So you played guitar hero. What were the controllers like? Wood? Did they have the slider touch pad thing that guitar hero world tour has?

Did you notice any new songs?

Actually, I'm sitting on a post that talks about how RT secured some exclusive songs to the arcade version but I've been waiting to publish it while I wait for pics of the guitars from RT. That might be a moot point now however. :)

I also found out that US distributors will begin receiving the game in two weeks - they will have demo models next week. I'm going to be dropping by my distrib. to check it out but it sounds like they have so many pre-orders for this game that you are going to find it everywhere.

Let's drum up a little more discussion:

Some questions for the lucky people that get to play this stuff at the show

Sega:

Between Harley and R-Tuned, which game do you find more entertaining?

It seems like response towards R-Tuned is good so far, I wonder how it would compare if set next to a Tokyo Drift

Konami:

All I can say is that I really hope we see GTI Club in the US. It sounds like fun and a nicely different take on all the racers that are out there. (speaking of which, I've noticed that they are starting to go a little heavy on those - much more than usual this year).

GVR:

It sounds like you were impressed with how this games looks in person, any mroe elaboration on that?

RT:

I am a little surprised at the BBH Special. I thought that only Sega would give that a go but it looks like RT is really looking to give them a run for their money in that arena.

Can't wait to see more on H2Overdrive

Nanotech:

What kind of issues did it have that you mentioned? Did it look as good as it does on the flier?

I've heard bad things about the GH:AC controllers, for one the strum bar has been sticking. The game also popped up with an XP error message and rebooted itself.

this is just what i'm hearing from friends.

here is a very low quality picture of the cabinet and guitars:

Back from the show, got my pictures transferred and will proceed to write up the show tonight.

Answers for Shaggy!

- Between Harley and R-Tuned, I would go for R-Tuned. Bear in mind that my views aren't representative of the general showgoers, and Harley got much more attention. Both are well worth playing anyway. As for R-Tuned and Tokyo Drift, R-Tuned looks nicer and plays better (I really dislike Tokyo Drift though), but doesn't have the name appeal.

- GTI Club is awesome, and the cabinet is very unusual and eye-catching. It would be a great shame if it didn't hit the US.

- Justice League looks better than the screenshots suggest - it's in HD and runs at a nice framerate. However, it's still clearly a budget title and the environments just don't look good. Of course, you should be too busy with enemies to worry about that.

- Big Buck Safari Special is basically a very large standard setup. Think of it as being an ultra-deluxe. I've got a picture.

- H2Overdrive is genuinely really good. More in the report.

- Didn't get to play Extreme Rally Racing.

It looks like the guitar hero controllers in that picture do not have a whammy bar, or start and select buttons.

Also the strap seem to go in the middle (i guess this would make it easier for left handed people to play). The headstock of the guitar is the same shape as the GH:WT guitar. Looks like there is not a slider pad either (it is hard to tell in the photo).

igo: yes the whammy bar has been removed.

the song list seems very crippled too many missing songs when compared to GH3 CS.

no word on exclusives yet..

dunno if anyone will be there for the last day but these are questions i have for Konami

ubeat/x for eu reps

Release update?
Any more test locations?
eAmuse at launch?
Upgrade kit release?

x for jp reps (they might not be there for the last day though ;-;)

will USB be used for EU/US machines?
with the fear of some arcades not having internet connections, will there be support for offline machines?
could players scores be saved to USB for offline machines for the final release?
can you add an option to disable the announcer for the final release?

gh:ac

Release update?
Final guitars design?
Final game version?
Online at launch?

edit;

Brick People looks so god damn fun!

I can answer that question on GH:AC

Release: less than two weeks from now. My distributor gets a demo model in next week.
Exclusive songs: Yes but from what I was told, they still haven't completed the playlist and will be offering free DLC to operators very soon so also it will have some online features at launch

50 songs total, 1 exclusive song was on the machine (i don't have the name of the song though)

there arn't any ports for connecting home controllers (a question that my local arcade had)

I don't have a picture of the other end of the guitar, but they've removed the whammy bar.

She looks so happy.

I heard there was a port for connecting another monitor to the machine. I guess they wouldn't see a need to connect the home guitars to the machine as then some ops would probably dismount the guitars that come with it and use the less sturdy home versions. Then again, I really hope that they don't charge an arm and a leg for the guitars but sadly the arcade industry excels at screwing ops over on the parts end (like with the $134 power supply I just had to buy which should have cost just $34 at the most but I am ranting here).

I like the style of the word arcade on there, it looks very Midway-ish

The arcade font on GH is actually exactly like the font on defender.(Posted Image)
