Since I've been looking to get into more arcade items, a good friend of mine recently gifted me a setup that outsources JAMMA boards to an RCA hookup so I can play legit arcade boards on my television screen at home. It's working great and it's helping me gain some understanding on how to manage JAMMA. That being said, I did have a few questions if people could help me out:
1) My most obvious question comes with the game controls. The board that was gifted to me along with the setup is Mortal Kombat and I have two arcade joysticks modeled after the Street Fighter 6-button layout. The first three buttons work perfectly, but none of the bottom three work at all, meaning I have no low kick or punch in Mortal Kombat (the top three operate the high attacks and block perfectly). The sticks attach to the setup with a parallel port plug-in. Does anyone have any input on how I would be able to get these other three buttons working or does it sound like I'm out of luck since I am using a parallel port as opposed to housing the controls in a cabinet?
2) Is anyone aware of how I can access internal game menus with such a setup? With my experience with arcade cabinets, I know there is usually a button situated somewhere near the credit switch that activates an internal menu. Is this routed to a location on the board, or is this an example of being out of luck since I won't have a cabinet?
Many thanks to anyone who can help out.
