I often wonder why Microsoft and Sony don't have cheap XB360 and PS3 boards with interchangeable games. You'd think they'd be able to sell them at a much lower cost than the PC based boards like TypeX. At the moment it's only the Naomi in the low cost bracket, and it's getting very long in the tooth.
Yeah they are both neck and neck in the console war and i dont think they realize the arcade/LAN market right now. Im surprised the modding community has not developed something like it. Or maybe they have and we have not seen it yet?

Just for fun I priced out the hardware in our F&F Drift cabs, just to see what it cost them. Not including the security dongle and breakout boards, it came out to less than $200. The current obsession with PCs in arcade cabinets is well-founded -- you just can't get this kind of horsepower at this price point anywhere else. It also helps that there's piles and piles of engines already tailor-made for the PC, not to mention a lush and flexible set of APIs.
