If you've been shooting BP for very long, you may have already heard about this stuff. I've used it for years.
Mix EQUAL parts of rubbing alcohol, hydrogen peroxide, and liquid Murphy's Oil Soap. Stir well and keep out of direct light until used. (Dark bottles will work just fine.) Pour in the barrel and let it sit for some 30 seconds. Then force contents out through the nipple or vent.
This stuff breaks down BP fouling so fast and so hard that your first patch will come out nearly white! Does NOT promote rust and will NOT harm the stock or its finish.
Sounds like a very good tip! :)
Bull I have been shooting BP rifles for SOME years, all I use in my rifle is BP so I'm going to give this a try!! Thank you!!
man I need to get out and do some shotting to try this stuff out!! This state makes it so hard to get out and shot it's crazy. Back home I'll just go out in the frount 40 and I have a burm dug at 50, 100 and 150 yards but here I have to drive almost 2 hours to find a place to shot.

I know what you mean. I mixed up some of this solution 2 weeks ago and haven't found the time to go shooting yet.
Where do you go to shoot?
I go out the 8 to a place close to Jucumba. It's a long way but no one bothers me.
Because of the distance I usually take the dirt bikes and make a day of it. The area is BLM land and is authorized for off highway use. Your supposed to stay on the roads but it is right against the border and the Border Patrol has roads everywhere. :garfield:
I've never seen a BLM ranger there.
