Most Venomous replaces Mr Morayarty, the Moray Eel who has been moved to Sealife Weymouth.

It features fuzzy dwarf lionfish, fox faced rabbit fish, leaf scorpion fish.. I'm not making these up!

So is it "The UK's No.1 Venomous Fish Attraction Based Within A Non-Merlin Sealife Attraction Despite the Similar Name and Similar Entry Fee"?

And can you not just go to Swallow's in Rayleigh and see a much greater variety of fish (and now reptiles too) for free? Ok, so they don't have sharks - but I think their indoor Koi tanks might even be a tad bigger... and as it's £6.50 cheaper (i.e. free) to enter, and their Cafe has prices that don't require a mortgage to feed a family of four, I know which I'd rather visit which is why we're not renewing our family annual pass this year. Not to mention the totally unjustified price rise!

Sometimes it feel like certain members of Stockvale went to the P.T. Barnum School of Business which states there's a sucker born every minute! You just can't charge premium prices for tacky seaside attractions.

We ALL know (whether we acknowledge it publically or not) that if something CAN be done on the cheap at AI, then it IS done on the cheap. Hence the lack of theming, the million and one missed opportunities to be a fantastic park, etc... but at least AI is still fun!

At Sealife, even the fish look bored! The sand barely covers the floor of the Ray Bay or the shark tunnel (the MAIN exhibits!!), many of the fish in these areas are injured, the decor is faded and WELL overdue a touch up, and the whole place just SCREAMS tacky! Is it an aquarium? An indoor play area for small children or a tacky seaside restaurant? At the moment it fails miserable on all three fronts. Pick one and stick with it for crying out loud!

Right at the start of this thread I was REALLY excited by a massive project that was going to put Sealife well and truly on the map. You can blame Southend council for delays re mini golf but come on, are people really expected to believe that the council put that aging relic of Kiss me Quick and Donkey Rides on the Beach ahead of a 21st century internationally acclaimed conservation project? If ANYBODY believes that they seriously need their head's examined!

Hmmm.... not really sure where that rant came from so I'll stop now! smile.gif

Various parts of the aquarium have been repainted.
I agree it could be better but that can be said for any attraction anywhere, there's always something that can be improved. Sea-Life Adventure is a fairly good aquarium, kids enjoy the play centre and the play&pastry offer with Waves Cafe is well received...

The reason less work has been done than perhaps could have been is because SLA is waiting for the extension. When that happens, I can only imagine it will receive a full renovation and necessary improvements will be made.

As for 'kiss me quick' - I've seen loads of guests at AI with those hats recently! Old school is cool, apparently.

I've seen the plans, it looks good. I presume this puts the extension plan to bed, though..

it sounds brilliant.

as waves is changing to three shells could it mean it is becoming a chain of restaurants and more could be opening around the area.
