Title: Sky Drop
Description: Zamperla Drop Tower

You cannot miss the thing, it's big and colourful and is a poor drop tower in comparison to others located in the UK, but thinking about it, it does have the potential to be a fantastic drop tower if it was to receive a bit of TLC.

Now with the installation of Rage, it's a perfect opportunity to milk the theme and idea for all it's worth and go all out with it, which so far has not actually been done on Rage either, but I like to keep ahead of myself in ideas.

As both Rage and Sky Drop are tucked away in that crevice of the park, they basically could both work off each other and they could combine themes to create a mini-themed area of the park, it's an opportunity not to be wasted.

Sky Drop without a doubt is a tacky fairground ride, far from magical and hardly shows effort in the theming department, so to incorporate it with the Rage theme and give it a makeover really could make it something "sensational" in the drop tower community.

So, the basic idea would be that Rage is the Superhero who is there to save the day, but with any Superhero there has to be a villain, in comes Sky Drop, it basically could be used as a way of representing the villain and as both rides are close to each other it would work perfectly.

The ride would obviously need a complete makeover and to be themed up, which would be a task in itself as all the ride is made up of, is lights and blue metal and parts, so what sort of villain would work.

Something cheesy along the lines of Dr Vertigo, or the villain just being called Vertigo so in return the ride being called Vertigo or something silly like that, as that is what the Superhero comic genre is all about.

Then the ride could be themed around it, with the Sky Drop sign being replaced with something more fitting, the ride getting a more tasteful and themed look, such as all weird looking fake machinery about it, to make it look like some sort of dooms day device that Captain RageMan has to stop.

Then the wall from the back of Sky Drop, to Rage's Station could tell of the battle between then, so at the start near Sky Drop we'd have the tale of Dr Vertigo/Vertigo creating this world ending machine, then when we get into the centre the battle between the two characters gets under way then by the time we reach Rage we see Captain RageMan all victorious etc.

On top of that a new ride audio system could be installed, maybe even with an audio dialogue voice over to go in time with the ride sequence, for example, when your being bounced up and down rapidly you could have Dr Vertigo screaming how the machine is going out of control and so on, something to really submerse you and take you where no drop tower has gone before.

Music of course would be used to create a much more dramatic and impacting impression and atmosphere around the ride, a couple of music pieces that might work with the ride are located below, one piece is called Dance of the Knights the other is O Fortuna or something like that.

Ride Sequence and Un-loading

It would lead to a load of exciting little things that could be done, such as themed sinister looking restraints to make it look like riders are being clamped in for some sort of insane experiment, they could have little LED bars on top of the seats to make it look like riders are being monitored for psychological readings etc.

So, if I was to come back into reality the only thing that I would like the see changed on the Sky Drop that might possibly happen no matter how remote, is to see some decent restraints installed on it, the current ones are ugly, uncomfortable and horrid in general.

As you can see, another boring night in for me...

'More than 50ft'... Sky Drop is 21 metres, or roughly 69ft. I guess if you take off the lettering at the top and the height of the platform, it's probably about 50ft worth of running track.
