Ok, let's have a bit of fun. Most of the folk here play Rollercoaster Tycoon, it's sequals or other similar games so let's take it to the next level...

Imagine you've come into an unlimited pot of money, but the catch is that you can ONLY spend it on Adventure Island. What would YOU do?

Rules:

1) You must keep the "feel" of the park, so you can't just rip everything out and put in the fastest coasters or the most thrilling or intense rides. Remember you're catering for families as well as thrill-seekers.

2) The park must still be profitable, so you can't simply say "Free rides for everyone", or have three operators per ride (unless you can justify it!).

3) While you can have similar rides and attractions to other parks, you can't have identical ones - so no "Nemesis" clones, for example.

4) Iconic rides must still exist in one form or another. This means the Big Wheel, Crooked House and Lighthouse Slip must feature. Maybe not as they are now, but they (or versions of them) must be there somewhere.

5) Don't forget facilities! Toilets, places to eat, staff facilities, offices, ticket counters and so on.

I think that's enough for you to be getting on with, but if I think of others I reserve the right to ammend the rules :)

I couldnt see a ride like this taking off in AI to be honest, in Alton towers Hex is so well themed and set in a buiding that just makes the ride amazing, i dont think you would be able to replecate such an amazing attraction in such a small area with not as much of a story and great theming behind it.

Not reali on topic but after seeing Pirates of the carribean 3 i thought it would be a great idea to use the bit wen the ship turns from uprite to underwater and so on in a Velkoma mad house style attraction.

Yer man i could imagine a crooked house themed mad house but i dont think it would be the best dark ride AI could choose from. Maybe a re-ramp of bobs into a dual/tomb blaster style attraction? it would have to have some scenery replaced with more obvious target scenery but things like the warewolf and the 3 "floating" ghosts could make ideal targets. Maybe with a "shoot your way through beelzee bobs traps" sort of objective.

Just a reminder that this thread is for you to design the park any way you like with unlimited funds, so if you want a Madhouse-based Crooked House, then so be it!

I'd actually forgotten about Hex. It's been quite a few years since I last visted Alton Towers, but I do remember this ride now and I seem to remember it scared the bejesus out of me!

I could see a tamed-down version working very well as a Crooked House replacement, though. In reality, I don't think a scaled-down version would be viable simply because £2m is an astronomical amount to replace a ride where simply gutting, remodelling and updating would be vastly more cost-effective and also it wouldn't be a crowd-puller in the same way as Rage was - but I could be mistaken.

a ball pool in the staff room (out to those who know about this one!) ideal for the geek off moments and return the log flume for the farewell practical joke!!!

maybe even a new height sign on the wheel, windows in the bus shelter and removal of the fireball ...

Right. Here goes...

Working from West to East.

So to start off, Southend Radio is being constructed, this would remain and the bottom floor which currently houses the toilets and a storage area would be made into a guest area, with toilets, lockers etc, much like the bottom of the dome at Thorpe.

The car park would be fenced off with a sliding gate and a small opening gate a'la the east staff room, and the gap between the fence and Gold Mine would be made into a proper gate. The staff room would be demolished and new parking spaces for both the park and the radio station would be created.

Gold Mine would receive cctv throughout the ride with monitors next to the control buttons, and a brand new sound system playing throughout the ride, with new scenery, much like George has already suggested.

The Lighthouse Slip, Drop, Whip Lucky Strike, sideshows, hot dog bar and Pans Base would be untouched.

Base would however be turned into operations control, each ride would have a phone link to be able to call through to ops control and they would then send security or engineers out, etc, would save a lot of useless things coming over the radio.

The Crooked House would be replaced with a Vekoma Madhouse, the theming has already been discussed.

The Choo would receive a proper paint job and the fence would be recoloured to fit the ride, but this ride doesn't feature in my long term plans.

Goblets would stay.

Sk8Borda would get new music, even if it's a new composition. No more Surfin' USA.

Pharaoh's Fury would have its smoke machine sorted out and set so that when switched on it released smoke either from the head or across the floor when the ride was switched to stage 3. Also a sound system would be put in playing Egyptian style music that would change pace with the speed of the ride.

Cow Jump would move forward to the edge of the Mini Mega and arcade, and the space behind would replace the storage space under the radio station.

Mini Mega would have a structure built over the top, the track repainted. It would have a couple of lights inside, maybe on the train itself, showing the immediate track in front of you, also this would be completely covered by cctv for the op.

Ramba would stay as it is.

The Dodgems would be pretty much the same, but maybe remove a small amount of cars because it looks a tad cramped.

Claw. Firstly, get rid of the tacky fairground lights that rarely work anyway, and replace with fibreglass moulds such as on Scorpion. The speed of the ride itself would be increased slightly to stop it being painful and make it more fun, and maybe at the back where the trees are half a cave could be built to make it seem as though the dragon is reaching out of the cave. A proper sound system and musical score would be added.

Go Karts would remain for now.

The Wheel would go. A KMG Afterburner would be built in its place with the grass bank nicely landscaped with a waterfall.

Barnstormer would stay as it is but the trees would be cut back a fair bit.

Food bar and workshop would stay, but the roof and extension of workshop would be painted or foamed to fit in with the surroundings.

Scorpion would have a sound system installed.

Fireball would stay but be painted to look like a fireball rather than the ridiculous yellow and pink.

The tunnel would be themed to a railway style tunnel, just to give it some interest.

The Dock & Quay area would be removed entirely and this space used as a central staff area, with staff toilets, a staff canteen etc.

Treasure Chest and Pizzas of Eight and east tickets are fine as they are at the moment.

Rage would have extra theming added to the container and floor as George has mentioned and the back wall would be themed to a huge comic strip. Also, ops would have monitors showing all the blind spots.

Sky Drop would stay as it is and the space next to it could be used for the Jumping Jolly Rogers.

Sea Serpent, Roberto's, Viking Boats, chip shop, Candy Cottage would stay as they are.

Tidal Wave would have cameras installed at the entrance and throughout the queueline for the op to be able to see exactly what's going on, other than that it would be pretty much as is.

Green Scream is fine for the moment but would eventually be replaced.

Monsters would stay for now but would be removed fairly soon.

Dragon would stay as it is.

Beelzee Bob's would be rethemed. The Beelzee Bob character would still feature centrally but several of the scenes would be changed.

Archelon would have new sounds and music.

Flying Jumbos and Jungle Safari are fine.

Jungle Jive would remain and Adventure Golf would have one or two tiny adjustments, mostly signage.

On top of this, every single light in the park would be fixed and regularly maintained, it's annoying seeing a strip of 4 or 8 lights not working, or one or two floods out when they shouldn't be.

All ride announcements would be themed to fit the ride.

Ticket prices are perfect at the moment and the wristband structure is great, but cashiers would have to ensure people below certain heights were not getting the higher band.

That's the short term sorted out...

Medium term. Removal of the Choo and that space maybe used for an entertainment show. Removal of the Monsters for the same purpose on the other side.
Green Scream removed and replaced with a better coaster.

Long term. Gold Mine removed and replaced with a more thrilling ride, probably a Star Shape or Topscan.
New coaster on west.

That's all I can think of for now but I'm sure I'll come up with something else...

brad told me about that earlier! when i used to work at butlins we used to collect all the beer slops, spare crisps/popcorn etc in a bottle skip and the poor bastard would get dumped in it!

firstly I would remove the f1 karting.
what would people prefer a ride which you have to pay for or a ride which is included with the band price, I would put there a log flume as the only water ride in the park you don't get wet on guess what im talking about lol.

Then I would remove green scream and replace it with a new coaster called funny bones where it would be inside and have a few funny scenes.

Then I would replace sk8borda as its rubbish and I fancy a return of captin hooks pirate ship.

Then I would like to get the cow jump re themed it already has a great theme but it would end up like the bus at beano land chessington.

I would get rid of the arcade next to pizza of eight.

I would get a new kids ride like a mad house as hurri said. B)

I would make a new retruant at jj cafe but scrap the golf.

I would make a mini cinema with kids mini movies in it to replace blackbeards all at sea i would bring back mr smees boats as the jumping jolly rodgers are a bot dodgy.

thats all of it except the wristband prices they should be £15 for a big band
£10 for junior
and £5 for a mini.

A new fence looking identical to the one AI has got facing the road would go all the way to the 3 shells restrant and a new enterance would go there.

The staff room would stay where it is, the light house would get better themed like it once was and have cctv put inside so there is no more graffetie. The drop n smile would stay where it is but have a slightly different coulor put to it, The Whip would have a good paint job and have new ride annoncments like all the rides will. The DCGMine would be completed with that miner on top replaced by the pigdogs on the moving corks.

The Choo would be repainted to fit in with DCGmine and the crooked house would stay as it is but with moving floors and new animanic windows except the playing bears would stay as they are. The Radio would also stay as it is. Southend rock would be bigger and repainted to a brown type rock. Pharaohs fury would have new smoke machine going off 2wice every ride circuit. Sk8borda would have a slush machine next to it and the claw would be themed so it looks a bit more like a claw the same way scorpion is. The cow jump would still be next to the claw and the bowling centre will be rethemed to go with Devils Creek just like the arcades.
MMMega would go and be replced by this type of coaster but be better themed.

Jungle jive and adventure golf moved to west where southend rock and tatoo and face painting.

AND green scream refurbished.

and I Would Make my managerial team: Me- Owner Rock-Manager Hysterix-Assist Manager And Hire Hurri as my head of Art!

I would get rid of a few rides in the west side and make the west bigger and build a children's zoo. I would change the colour of Drop n Smile. Replace the Might Mini Mega and Big Wheel with a Log Flume. I would move Scorpion and Dragons Claw to the east side. Then move Dragon, Flying Jumbos and Water Wars to the west side. I would change the parks opening time. The park would open at 10 peak days and 11 off peak days. I would keep closing times the same for both peak and off peak days. I would give some rides a repaint to make them look a bit better. Thats what I would do if I owned Adventure Island.

I would get rid of dcgm after 1 season and bring in a new inside puppet one, like the pinnochio one at disneyland.
Since I own ai I must own sealife aswell.So get rid of sealife and buy the beach, all the beach ideas would go where 3 shells is.

in the new land a Charcater land.
With ALL the fantasy rides in it ej cow jump etc.

also id get a new kiddies coaster in the new area.

also a shopping centre at the end.

This means more fences will be needed to go right around the new area. Which means Jungle Jive Cafe will have a small extention going under the road that is currently behind the cafe and will have a back enterance leading to the new area. Which also means a new entry to the golf which will have no main ramp to the side of the cafe! And will have another underpass going under the road,which is the main access route for the new area!

I will then add a wild mouse like This

Since Sea Life Adventure is now attached to AI then i will make an extension to it and put in some really big and exciting fish like sharks!

The cafe inside the sea life will get a make over and a small extension.
This will all be attached to a puppet theatre and workshop attached to one side so the front of that building is facing the current AI and the back is attached to the new part of sea life!

The car park will be bigger and will be outside the fence!
And the sea life will cost extra but will have a special offer with the Big Adventure Band which will cost £25 on its own!

A new coaster will be put in along the road side like the B&M

It will be the same type as infusion at Blackpool!

Then a new AI stage would be put in the blank space in the middel of the new coaster and the puppet theature which will have later plans!

And thats it FOR NOW! :lol:


Ohh forgot to mention: new lights would be put in as identical to the ones we have now!

the irdes to be made better are: ill put the themed barn stormer train on mighty mini mega and paint the track the same as barnstormer now and call it the barnstormer 2 with a bit more new themeing mayb caves,waterfalls and stuff AND THATS WOT I WANNA DO TO ADVENTURE ISLAND :)

Oooh, if I owned t'park I'd turn it into Adventure Iz It-land. It would be fronted by that Naomi Campbell (She would pay tribute to the past mascot Snappy, she is as snappy as fook so would do very well) and it would be completely overhauled, Oooohhh! Would change some of t'ride names and themes, Rage would be called "Shares" as it has loads of drops just like the current economy. American Whip would become "S&M the ride" and this would lead the park to introduce various MP's as mascots to front the new ride theme. Over t'hill would become Over Arrr Phoenix, as you follow her around on a pissed up night out. Would also change all staff uniform to bright pink and yellow, this is to make them camouflaged within the park if they encounter any threatening customers, I always have staff safety in mind, go bastarding me!

Finally I'd build a 1000ft super doooper mega whoopdy doo daa zippe de day 400mph sex machine woodie coaster. Would be fooking brilliant.

Alternatively I'd just bring back all t'past rides that were total cack just to make people think they had been blasted back 40 years into the past. Would make wristbands two shillings to confuse the bastards even more, ohhh!
