Hello Brian

So sorry to hear of your loss, life can be very trying both physically and emotionally and you have certainly had your fair share. My thoughts are with you.

Hope to see you at Ellie's class when she starts up, I don't think I am much ahead of you with progress so we can be a "right pair" together.

Take care and I hope things settle down for you soon in every way.

Dawn

So very sorry to hear about your mum, Brian, and so soon after your dad's death. I am sure you are right when you say that things would be better to cope with if your back was in better condition.

Thinking of you and your family - such a sad time for you all
Love Gilly xx

Thank you all so very much for your kind thoughts which are really very much appreciated.
I had another very bad flare up on Wednesday which has calmed a bit after a massage earlier today. The new mixture of drugs are helping with the intensity of the sharp pain but have little effect on the constant dragging pain. Sometimes I think that it's gone away only to find it creeping back up on me.
I can't believe after having two operations I'm still in this amount of pain and told back surgery isn't always going to take away the pain.
I hope everyone else is as comfortable and pain free as possible.
With thanks and regards
Brian

It can be a matter of learning to manage long term with chronic pain. I'm glad that the meds are helping a bit. You are not alone in going through this (not sure if that helps) but it can be such a lonely thing that the thought of not being the only one helps me.

Hi Brian,
you are doing all the right things, when medication doesn't work then you switch your medication.

I'm trying to relate to the dragging feeling that you're talking about, I can't put a finger on that one at all.

It's not 12 months since you've had your surgery, and I think that 12 months you've then got to look at it and say that you've got to put up with some of the pain but this can be residual for up to two years before it goes away.

I'm sure you're doing the right type of lifestyle, no heavy lifting, twisting or bending except from the knees. Getting into your new posture can be difficult and can take a long time. If you think there's anything further that I can help with, then please e-mail me
very best wishes,
Alastair biggrin.gif

Hi Brian
Hope you coped with the funeral today and that you weren't in too much pain both physically and emotionally.
Think I know the pain that Brian means Alastair, it is like you are carrying a 56lb sack of potatoes all the time and like it is putting all the pressure onto your lower back.
Hope you manage to get some pain relief soon whilst you are waiting for your pain management to be sorted.
Take Care
Gilly xx
