Hiya,
smile.gif
Just to let you all know that I have an appointment on Monday with Dr Jayne Gallagher at LBH on Monday! I don't really know what to expect to be honest...? In a lot of pain, I did too much yesterday and am now paying for it today! I know you guy's will be able to relate to that. Anywho, I'll probably be around today and tomorrow as I'm just resting!
Love to all,
Lyssie cool.gif x-x

Hi Lyssie

when i went to the pain clinic we did a lot of talking about how to cope with pain and how to pace yourself on bad days, it was not so much about medications but about coping skills, I don't know if that is what will be the case for you but I hope it is of benifit to you biggrin.gif

I'm sure that Carole is quite right, a lot of it is about pacing and also there will be some conversations about the actual medications that you are taking.

Best,

It depends on which model of pain management that they are using. Most hospitals that have a specialist pain management team focus on a multi-disciplinary approach and looking at medication is only a small part of this. It is an avenue of treatment that is worth trying to see if you find any benefit from.

Hiya guys, thank you Carole, Alastair and Alison biggrin.gif
The information you've given me is extremely helpful! So thank you,
Mr Lam said they'll be able to sort out appropriate painkillers,
As well as mainly helping the physical and psychological side of things,
And coping strategies, groups, etc.

I've been so busy talking about myself I haven't even asked how anyone else is!?

Lots of love and hugs,

Lyssie cool.gif

Hi Lyssie
I am plodding along as I always do. going back to doctor on thursday (if I can get an appointment) as the problems with my neck are now stopping me from getting any sleep, I am used to not sleeping because of my lower back pain but this is so irratating it is tingling all night and my arm feels like a dead weight so can not get comfy. but I will survive. dont like taking Zopiclone.
Hope your well this cold sunny morning.
no accidents over the weekend. I still think of wrapping you in cotten wool to keep you safe. lol
xx

Hi Carole, I hope the Dr appointment goes well and I hope you're able to actually get an appointent too! That's not pleasent that your neck isn't letting you sleep sad.gif I didn't like taking Zopiclone either, it gave me nasty side effects like metal taste in my mouth, dizzyness and other things. You have enough lower back problems as it is and all you need is neck problems! *gentle hugs*

It was soo cold this morning (so wrapping me up in cotton wool would go down a treat lol), which actually brings be onto my appointment (I'm in agony from trecking it to and from London dry.gif )

The appointment was at 11:30 and the Dr was SO lovely, she's referring me for 2 things locally - pain specialist physiotherapy, and pain specialist psychologist for CBT. And has also changed my meds around a bit: Amitripyline changes into Duloxitene and add BuTrans patches plus normal Tramadol as I take it I'm still allowed to take, and Paracetamol, she said that she recons the slow release voltarol that I take wouldn't really take any affect on me as my pain seems to be very nerve type pain. She wants to see me again in about 2 weeks, and I am very happy with that and the appointment biggrin.gif

Rest for me now and GP in the morning at 9:20 to get my new meds prescribed and talk about my urine problems!

*Lyssie takes a deep breath - siiigh* So tired, early night tonight tongue.gif

Love Lyssie x

Hi Alison,
I have my patch on since yesterday smile.gif Should *hopefully* start helping in a couple of days I think. I am so tired! Can't sleep again or I wont sleep tonight, lol. I have another appointment with Dr Gallagher on the 23rd of November, expecting a call from the secretary later today about the CBT and physiotherapy so I can ask my insurance etc.
How are you?
Lyssie xx

Hope you get as much relief with the Brutrans patches as I have Lyssie. They have really kept me going over the past year. I have been unable to tolerate Tramadol and Cocodomol so these have been really good. They take a couple of days to kick in and make you feel a bit sick but that wears off, but when I change my patch I always do it at night so that I sleep off the sickly feeling rather than have it during the day. Hope things go well with the CBT and physio.
Take Care now
Love Gilly xx
Ps you may manage to get some sleep with the patches as they can make you a bit drowsy - hope so xx
