I don't have info about experience or reputation of these surgeons with the exception of Mr Shackleford in Warrington (who did both my lumbar and cervical disc replacement surgeries) and I can highly recommend him.
Perhaps other members could provide feedback on the other surgeons?

Hi Lynda
You asked for feedback on surgeons using Active L replacement disc.
I had an ADR at L5/S1 using this disc last September by Mr Timothy at the Leeds General Infirmary. He is an excellent surgeon and very approachable, unlike some that i've come across over the years. I would recommend him to anyone needing this kind of surgery....... especially ladies ........he has the added bonus of being gorgeous too.... :D

Thanks for that info Liz,
I'm sure it will help people as it's always good to know what other patients opinions of our doctors are like. Personal recommendations count for a lot in my view and he sounds like a great choice of surgeon and handsome too! What more can a woman want. ;)

I have been recommended a C5/6 disc replacement by Mr JJD Bosma at the Royal Hallamshire in Sheffield, he has done over 30 ADR's and uses the Discocerv disc. There seems to be no mentions of this surgeon or type of disc on this site. Anyone know any more ?
Not sure if this is the right section for this post so mods please move if required.
Also a big thank you for those responsible for this site, it has been a true goldmine of information

Hi Darran and welcome to the forum but sorry that you needed surgery.
I have no information on Mr Bosma and have not heard of the Discocerv disc I'm afraid but that does not mean to say the are not very good.
The results of cervical disc replacement surgeries are very good and more and more surgeons are performing the surgery. Have you tried to speak to previous patients of Mr Bosma?
Regarding the prosthesis, it is difficult to keep track of devlopments and designs..if you get any information please share it with us.
Perhaps others will be able to answer you questions.
Good luck and best wishes
Lynda
PS I searched and found some info on the Discocerv prosthesis and have included it in post on 'More on Artifical Discs, manufacturers info', in 'Types of ADR' section. Let us know how you get on with your surgery with Mr Bosma Darran, others in your area may be interested.
