It was crowded. Hot. Extremely noisy. The air was pungent with the smells of sweat, body odor, perfume, hair products, dust, and the occasional alcoholic beverage.

The young Dominic Lareoux winced, and pressed in closer to the tall, strong body of his band member, Reece, hoping against all hope not to get swept away by the crowd and their endless sounds of chatter and laughter above the roar of the bands currently playing.

People pushed and bumped into him like he was invisible, which made the very shy, timid boy hunch and try to shrink himself as much as possible, making it even worse. He looked so nondescript, so bland - long, hay-blond hair that got into his face, a thin, long-sleeved tee that hung loosely around him in a nondescript color, his stonewashed jeans and black converse.

Maybe to others he looked like a stick. A walking stick, odd and extremely out of place, looking like he wanted to just disappear and never come.

Domi kept his eyes downward, focusing and memorizing the T-shirt colors of all his band members, trying to remember exactly what accessory they wore that would made them stand out and easier to find if Domi ever got lost.

Right now, he was staring studiously at the back pocket of Reece's jeans, that had a grungy black crown printed on.

"Dommie," The drummer Reece said his name, and Domi looked up. "Enjoy yourself," He advised the younger lad, and turned back forward. Domi's eyes dropped back to the jean pocket, his eyes tracing the outline of that crown.

"I never should have come," Domi muttered. Why? Why did he allow himself to be persuaded to come out here? He and Reece were the last to leave the bus. Where was everyone else? What was Cass wearing? And Davie? And Liam? Where's everybody?

Davie had wandered to the site earlier that morning, too early, when the techies were still scrambling around and fixing up last-minute stuff and making sure the technical aspects and equipments weren't being jerks. He had a few drags on some ciggs simply for the nicotine rush that would keep him awake a little longer, and because he hadn't had one in a while. He'd also contemplated a beer or two, but decided against it because beers were getting boring, and the taste rusty.

It's not like he slept much anyways. He'd usually catch a nap for maybe half an hour, or if he was lucky, an hour; just enough to get him by the next few hours. Then he'd take a nap again. Sometimes in the bus, sometimes under some tree somewhere, sometimes wherever was quiet and private without people disturbing him. It's not like anyone disturbed him anyways; he had that whole anti-social loner look when he went about. UNTIL...the Cheshire cat grin found its way onto his lips...THEN, that was a different story. But for now...

Davie pushed his way through the crowd, beer can in hand. He didn't know where he found it, but it fitted his hand perfectly. It didn't feel alien, though he wondered why he was holding it in the first place when he knew he wasn't gonna take a sip. He found Reece's bobbing blonde head amidst the crowd.

"Hey. Took you long enough," Davie said, completely ignoring Dommie's presence. "Beer?"

"Thank you." Reece smiled briefly, taking the can, "Eaten yet? Where are the others?"

Then, a small voice spoke from Reece's side. "H...Hi, Big Davie." It was tiny, as though too shy and a little frightened to even be speaking to his brother. Then the voice came a little stronger. "Where have you been?"

Davie shrugged in reply to Reece's answer. "Haven't seen any of them all day. You're the first. And no, I haven't eaten; not hungry."

Davie blinked at Dommie's voice as though it was alien to his ears. Oh. The younger Lareoux; him and his non-existent presence. And yet, the lady fans would die for him. Davie didn't get it; but he'd learnt not to question the ladies--it drove them away.

"Around," Davie replied curtly. "Does it matter?"

Domi teetered nervously on his feet. His brother's voice sounded rather agitated, and the young lad was rather torn between wanting to ask more and shutting up, in case he further aggravated his brother.

He opted for the latter, and looked to the ground. Because no matter how much he wanted to talk to his big brother, he knew better than to get on his lone family member's bad side. Besides, Domi felt he had no rights to anger Davie - Big Davie was everything to him. He began to sink into his vast bank of memory, rewinding and replaying every minute of the day, minutely scanning through to see if he had in any way bothered his brother to trigger that kind of voice tone.

Unconciously, Domi curled his arm inwards an pressed his thumbnail to his bottom lip, chewing habitually on the skin of his curled forefinger as he racked through his brain, analyizing the whole day and the days before. Did he? Had he? When? What? How? Why?

Reece noticed the familiar posture his friend assumed when he was thinking, and tried not to disturb him. The taller man turned his attention to Davie.

"Then how many have you had?" He asked with a teasing smile, lifting his can of beer in such a way that his actions indicated the subject of interest.

Riley walked into the party in tight black jeans and a black leather jacket. He had a white v-neck tee shirt. His hair was slicked down in front of his eyes, which had black eye shadow on heavily. he looked around for anyone he knew. He wondered if Desiree was there at the party, or Cass, or his brother. he didn't see anyone at all, but who could? the place was packed with people. It would be easy to spot him since he was so tall. He bobbed his head to the music and then went over to the food area. he got a small plate and started to put a few food items on it.

He loved when there were parties like this when there was a large group of people who all enjoyed music like he did. But he usually enjoyed the parties more when he was around people that he knew. he yawned lightly and started to eat a little bit. His eyes scanned the crowd looking for familiar faces for what seemed like the hundredth time. The party reminded him of a time when he was younger and in high school. He thought about the day that he went to the party that changed his life. That party is where he met his first crush, as far as riley's crushes go.

Riley finished the food on his plate and then looked around one last time before giving up and sitting down on a chair that he had found. he had zoned out and was day dreaming about nothing in particular. He let his thoughts go wild. He ended up thinking about Desiree. A smile had grown on his face. He always smiled when he thought of Desiree. He couldn't help it. He hadn't known her for very long, but he always thought about her. He often thought though that maybe it was just a crush. he had never had a real true crush before. He jumped lightly when he felt a soft tap on his shoulder. He looked around and smiled lightly when he saw who it was.

"Fifteen," Davie broke into a grin, then adding quickly, "I'm kidding."

Oooh!!! That look on Dommie's face was EPIC Kodak moment, the type where some big company would give prizes out to whoever wins the "best talk-bubble slogan" contest. The funny things people come up with... "Shit, dog poo!!" or "Why's Tanner naked?" or anything else along those lines. Davie always had a round of good laughs when he read those stupis talk-bubble thingys. And he'd make up a few stupid ones of his own--too obscene to posted.

Davie knew that pose; he'd seen it too often. With that silly grin still plastered on his face, Davie ruffled Dommie's hair. "Oh come on, I'm not gonna eat you. Relax. I'll just let Mr. Renton deal with you. He should be around somewhere..."

But one thing Davie just couldn't understand; why exactly was Dommie always paranoid about pissing people off? Pissing people off is a part of life, or at least part of Davie's life (he had that face, ya know?). And it's not like anyone would be so pissed as to blow your brains out anyway.

"T-T-Tanner?!" Domi winced then relaxed as Davie ruffled up his hair, then stiffened right back up as he heard the name of the most notorious, right-down dirty guitar god. Mr. Sex Icon, Mr. Guatanamo-Ain't-Got-Nothing-On-Me-For-Two-Secs.

Tanner Renton. The too-perfect and exact opposite of everything that Domi is.

The tiny, timid Lareoux inevitably shuddered, and huddled closer to Reece.

"What have I done to Tanner?" The boy whispered, both his thumbs pressed against his lips as he tore through his every memory once again at double speed, terrified of what he might have done to have raised the too-brilliant, too-confident, overwhelming guitarist.

Reece watched as Domi just got two steps closer to Panic Mode, and shook his head imperceptibly at the boy practically squishing himself against his arm and staring wide-eyed at the ground like a zombie, his lips trembling as Domi muttered to himself at such speed it was absolutely incoherent.

"Now you've done it." Reece said, flicking his eyes from Davie, calm as a cucumber, to Domi, who looked like he was fretting for the safety of the world. The huge contrast between the brothers couldn't be bigger. They need each other, Reece knew, though Davie could stand to be a bit more gentle around the ultra-delicate, sensitive soul of his brother.

Davie watched with a smirk, tugging gently at the gothic-styled cross hanging on his neck with a hand adorned with three tribal-roped bracelets. Good ol' Dommie and his inredible ability to hit Panic Mode in two seconds. Hell, ONE. But Davie was used to that--as usual.

"Would you breathe, kid? I'm kidding. " Davie said, staring down at his brother, only because he was a couple inches taller AND Dommie had that horrible tendency to slouch and crouch and pull into himself and trying to make himself disappear. And as an afterthought, Davie added, "I"m always kidding. Almost always. You want a drink? Food? Something?"

Davie didn't always know how to react to Dommie's presence; he never quite knew what to say. But he always said all the wrong things that would drive Dommie far, far away. Now was one of those times where he simply felt awkward around his brother. His BROTHER. The same one he's been living with his entire life. God save us all...

And then, and then...!!! Davie said it was all just a joke, and for an inexplicable reason that Domi couldn't solve all his life...

...it was gone.

Like a switch that had just been flipped off, Domi was instantaneously normal again. It was extremely visible how his shoulders would suddenly relax and his whole body would follow suit. Like all the pressure suddenly being released, Domi eased up, straightened up a little, and dared to look up.

Big Davie was joking. He's not really mad. I know that voice. He's really, really not angry with me.

Domi smiled a shy, little smile, one that curved his rosy lips up just a little, but showed expressively in his eyes. His smile may be small, but the happiness in his honeyed eyes was never more vivid. It had a kind of breathtaking effect, the kind of effect that seemed to make him glow, transformed him into a near-invisible being on earth to a radiant, gentle, beautiful person. Beautiful...because 'handsome' was not quite the word that can be associated with someone of Dominic Lareoux's build and features. No, he looked too pretty to be called 'handsome'. And when he smiled, he was downright angelic in beauty, especially if the lights shone on him just right.

And it was rather infectious. Reece couldn't suppress a smile himself and reached out to pat Domi's shoulder encouragingly. That's the way, Dom. Show the world your smile. The smile that must have made Davie promise to protect you always. The smile your mother gave you.

It had been a long day, but thankfully, now was the time to party.
Kick off days on warped was always the best, because, to be hon
est, who didn't love having a big crazy party with a bunch of peopl
e you will spend the next four onths with? Yeah, Chucky liked this
sort of thing. He was a social-fucking-butterfly, and parties were h
is favorite thing since sliced bread (and vegas, but we'll get to that
later). He walked over to the large crowd, realizing it was practically
like a mosh pit. A little too into, huh? He shrugged it off and jumped
right in, wondering if there as any food arounf the place.

he kept asking someone every so often, but everyone seemed a lit
tle pissed. That was warped for you. Chucky was positive he wasn't
going to make any friends today, but was hoping he could prove hi
mself wrong. He needed some friends to survive. Chucky felt asth
ough life was impossible without friendship, so he searched on ward
through the crowd, smiling the entire way as he asked peoples nam
es and what bands they played in.

After about half an hour of this, Chucky got bored and sick and tire
d of asking, so he just floated around for a bit, asking for names
whenever he got bored. After a few, he laid eyes on a lskinny, sa
ndy blonde boy that put him in the mind of a tell, skinny kurt coba
in. So, sure, it was just the hair, but whatever. Close enough. He w
alked up to him, practically interupting his conversation to talk to
him. "Hey, what's your name?" He asked with a wide grin, hoping
for a more lively response then all the others he had gotten.

JUST ONE NIGHT COULDN'T BE SO WRONG
you make me wanna lose control
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

It was early in the night but the Warped Tour kick off party was already crowded with people, bands, fans, tour execs, and a fair few bloggers and media types, including Miss Jeanette Mason. Her eyes scanned the crowd. The editor wanted some good info on the inner workings of the party. He was even considering sending Jeannie and Vee on the tour if they did well. Jeanette would be more than happy to go. She loved the music scene and it would be fun to report on. Not to mention that Warped was chock full of hot men. The Arrows brothers, for one. Ophelia Underwater's entire band basically, minus Vee's former rival and the band's lead singer Cassandra.

Again Jeanette's eyes roamed over the crowd. dozens of bodies pressed against each other in the mosh pit. Several other people crowded around the food and drink tables or lounged against a wall or in the booths and on the benches around the room. On one of the plush leather chairs near her sat none other than Kerosene and Candles' bassist Riley Arrows. Perfect opportunity for a little inside info. Jeanette tossed her hair back over her shoulders and put on her sweetest smile as she crossed the distance between them and tapped him on the shoulder.

"Hi, I'm not intruding, am I?" Jeannie extended a hand to her young man. "Jeanette Mason, Mint Magazine." She flashed Riley a winning smile that stopped most men in their tracks. Jeanette knew how to use her looks to her advantage. Men were easily manipulated when you were pretty. She didn't really want to manipulate Riley into anything... yet, but she didn't want to be told to bugger off either. She wanted to get something good for the article on the party that Mint was putting out. Riley was a good first candidate for her journalistic prowess after all.

Ah the kickoff party! Desiree was so excited she would squeal, and she had on several occasions so far today. Parties were one of the teen's favorite things to do, and ones that involved musicians were even better. Tonight was going to be awesome and Des was really looking forward to letting loose and having a good time. And Riley was going to be there, so it was bound to be an amazing night.

After a funfilled day of shopping and such Des went about getting ready. She spent her time, wanting to make sure she looked perfect for the party. Being hot was important, especially in front of so many guys. Not that Desiree was boy crazy, but she wasn’t asexual either. The redhead put on a tight pair of grey jeans, a sexy sleeveless blue shirt that had a sparkly sheen, and a pair of bronze pumps, curled her fiery locks, and put on some subtle makeup. After a quick look in the mirror Des assured that she was indeed a head turned and left for the party, toting her essentials in her pockets.

Once at the party Des got herself a long island iced tea and walk around. She searched the crowd with her pale blue eyes, looking for a sign of Riley as she sipped the deceptively sweet drink. A couple of those down the hatch and the redhead was going to be dancing on a table, and that was exactly how she liked it.

Spotting Riley the teen smiled and headed over there without a second thought. She set her drink down and quickly walked up behind where her friend was sitting, putting her hands over his eyes. “Guess who?” she asked playfully, grinning with excitement. It wasn’t a hard guess, but Des was having fun. As she was waiting for a response though she looked up and saw another girl standing before him. Who the heck was she?

Riley saw the journalist sit down after tapping his shoulder. He studied her movements and everything about her. "hello.I'm Riley Dylan Arrows" He simply said. He was always very careful about what he said to journalists and just whomever wanted an interview. Riley held a lot of secrets and he was determined to keep them safe. He gave a soft smile at the journalists. "no, not at all."

Riley liked to keep a mysterious tone about him. He thought it made himself interesting. "how are you today, well, tonight?" He asked. He wasn't paying much attention to anything but Jeanette. He jumped lightly when his eyes were covered. He took a few breaths of air and smiled. "Desiree!" He jumped up and turned around. "i knew it was you! i remember that smell of your perfume."

He hadn't been this excited to see someone for a very very long time. He smiled and drew her in for a hug. He wasn't really being careful and he knew he would pay for that later. "i didn't think i was gonna be able to find you in this large group of people." he smiled and looked at her. "you look amazing." he smiled sweetly and looked at her.

He turned his attention back to Jeanette. "i'm sorry." he smiled and sat down again pulling Desiree down onto his lap. He smiled. "did you want an interview?" He asked simply. "or maybe you just have a few questions..." he said.

The other girl was fast forgotten when Riley jumped up and grabbed her in a hug. Des wrapped her arms around her friend, wearing a bright smile as they embraced. She was little surprised by his admission that he remembered the smell of her perfume, but forgot all about it in her excitement at seeing him. Her bassist buddy was one of Desiree's new favorite people and she could not wait to spend the night living it up with him.

"Thanks, you look pretty good yourself," the redhead responded happily to the compliment. She did look amazing, and it was nice to have someone notice. It was no real shocker when Riley pulled her onto his lap. Although the two barely knew each other they were rather comfortable together. Des was just one of those people who could be at ease around anyone, and Riley felt like someone she had known forever. They just worked well together.

Oh, she's a journalist, Des realized with relief when Riley asked the girl if she wanted an interview. It didn't make much sense for her to be jealous of another girl around Riley. After all, they were just friends. But for whatever reason Desiree felt possessive over her friend. He only needed one knockout girl in his life, and she was that girl. Looking at the journalist the redhead merely smiled, not anticipating being recognized or anything of the sort.
