The Story Thus Far:
Mutants as a race had received some form of salutary neglect from the rest of the human population. Of course there were those who opposed the very thought of mutants being allowed to roam, or even exist for that matter, but generally there was a fragile peace that spanned the world.

Xavier’s school continued operating with out a hitch, still under the headmastership of one Charles Xavier as he continued to strive for his ultimate goal of a truly peaceful mutant/human coexistence. Mutants still went in and out of the mansion, learning to hone their skills and following Xavier’s teachings of peace. The X-Men continue saving the world.

But the fragile peace they protected would not last. A shifting public opinion leaned towards mutant internment and several prominent anti-mutant figures gained power. One of the more notable events during this period was the emergence of Damien Lear (more commonly known as Vigilante) as a key player in this swaying of opinion. His crusade led him in direct conflict with the X-men on several occasions, even managing to infiltrate the mansion multiple times. His actions put the X-Men into the spotlight once again, provoking more human aggression by staging several deaths linked to the X-Men.

The peace was shattered.

Several speeches, including one by Vigilante himself, and congressional meetings later, the President appeared on the television with the verdict.

"After a countless number of votes and bouts, we have finally come to a decision. The toleration of mutants has gone on to long. They are not humans and shouldn’t be treated like ones. I believe the only good way to show the mutants how powerful the humans are is by force, and so the only action we can take is a war against all mutants. From now on all mutants are to be imprisoned and all those who resist shall be killed. We shall no longer tolerate the mutants living beside us. It is time we fight back!"

On a quiet Sunday morning, the constant drum of a machine that rolled its way relentlessly along its empty roads rudely awakened the sleepy suburb of Westchester.
A column of battle tanks slowly but steadily crawled along the two-lane street, packed all along the hull and turret with hitchhiking soldiers, all armed with M4 Carbines, M3 grenades and many steely expressions.

There had been similar scenes of military might being flexed, but this one was important. The target was Xavier’s School. Widely known as a mutant harboring facility now, the military had the go ahead to permanently shut down the school.

"ATTENTION XAVIER INSTITUTE. THIS IS THE UNITED STATES ARMY. YOU ARE SURROUNDED. YOU ARE TO SURRENDER YOURSELVES AT ONCE, LEAVING THE BUILDING IN SINGLE FILE. YOU HAVE TEN MINUTES TO COMPLY.”

The Mansion was home to many students and adults. Obviously they weren’t going without a fight. Conflict erupted, and the soldier’s engaged the school. Units specially trained for mutant confrontation raided the mansion, and quickly infiltrated the main building despite valiant efforts by the X-Men and students defending the outside. The soldiers swept though fighting the mutants they encountered with the intent of killing them. There were orders to retrieve some specimens alive, but that wasn’t the top priority of the soldiers, they weren’t about to go out of their way to capture anything when they could easily kill them.

The mutant defenders were outnumbered and outgunned as they fought against staggering odds. The entire United States Military power was pressing down on them…

Then it was over.

The bombers flew low over the mansion; and at the same time several explosives unaccounted for by the military tore through the mansion. The resulting explosion was devastating, almost completely leveling the building and the nearby trees. When the smoke cleared all that was left was the building’s foundation and some random pieces of wall that managed to stay up.

Luckily, most of the mutants managed to get out in time. But there were those who perished in the flames. The hopes and goals seemed lost, even the revered Professor Xavier had been lost. Without the common bond, many of those who had lived within the mansion walls drifted off, it seemed like it had been common knowledge that something so good couldn’t last. But there were those who tried to hold on. With no where else to go, and an adamant belief in virtues of the Institute and what it stood for, the few who did not leave strived for a chance to bring it all back together.

Three weeks later, and the warfront was quiet. The humans had won…for the time being. The world had followed the example of the United States and executed similar measures against their mutant populations. The Brotherhood was uprooted at the expense of many human lives, but neither they nor Superior X, were finished just yet. While the X-Men had a sort of pacifist idea, the two terrorist organizations were not afraid to end lives. Bloody battles were waged in the three week span after the mansion, and in the end the humans were able to claim dominance though they couldn’t completely stomp out the remnants of the mutant organizations.

Most known mutants are already dead. Others are being detained in mutant research facilities of unknown locations. And still others live in a constant state of fear knowing that they would soon join one of the aforementioned groups. Those mutants whose identities are still their own personal secrets try to continue their lives, maybe find a place to escape it all.

It took two years of underground manuevering behind the scenes before the X-Men were able to rally public opinion towards a more docile approach on the mutant issue. Another year was needed for the Xavier Institute to be rebuilt on the foundation of the old building.

While radical acts of discrimination against mutants still occur, they are no longer backed by the Nation's government (openly at least...). The Institute has begun accepting registration for the new term with the condition that S.H.I.E.L.D. operatives be placed within the School to moniter activity and "protect the integrity of the American people".

In exchange, the Institute is under federal protection from outside interference including rioters, anti-mutant organizations, and demonstrations. However, the protection does not extend beyond the property.

With the recent instatement of new mutant protection laws life had the illusion of returning to normal, or rather, the new standard of normal had finally been set. Though human-mutant relations were still unstable and the occasional anti-mutant protest got out of hand and turned ugly, life stile seemed far brighter than it had. The mansion had been rebuilt and there was less fear in general, both in the eyes of mutants and humans, which made for a much happier living environment for both parties.

Of course, the Brotherhood and Magneto were always up to their old devious and diabolic ways, but nothing out of the ordinary, nothing the government or the X-men weren’t prepared for: a terrorist attack here or there, an occasional kidnapping or disturbance in the streets. Even they seemed to be benefiting from the new laws. The laws gave them even more of a reason to prove that mutants were dangerous and could never live in peace with humans. They were fueling the fire as usual…things were normal.

In fact, life had almost become “cushy” for the X-men. They spent their days training or teaching classes, not saving the world or running for their lives. Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters was flourishing once again under the protection of the government and supervision of SHIELD. There were more new students than ever insuring the promise of an even brighter, safer future.

SHIELD has been reassigned primarily to mutant protection and was on good terms once again with Xavier. However, Nick Furry wasn’t going to waist all his time and resources on protecting mutants, who in his opinion were more than capable of protecting themselves. Lately his attention, as well as Magneto’s and Xavier’s, had been drawn to excavation research concerning a large power surge in the Middle East near the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers.

What with life drifting along at a slow, comfortable, easy pace, no one was even thinking that any kind of unimaginable danger might be lurking on the horizon. Kids playing ball in the park, Women kissing their husbands good bye before work, and mutants enjoying a walk down main street without being lynched weren’t the least bit concerned that a greater threat than had been seen by the world for millennia was growing in some dark distant place, laying in wait for the time to spring and ravage the world with its power. This threat was far more dangerous than any rogue military group out to wipe mutants off the face of the earth, or any mutant militia trying to do the same to humans. This threat was something truly out of this world, and its delude of power was set to effect all of man and mutant-kind.

This force to be reckoned with is planning to teach the world once and for all that peace and happiness is just the calm before the storm!

The Change of the Wind

There is a familiar saying, that everything happens for a reason, but is that reason for the good?

Mutants: Individuals born with superhuman abilities which manifest at puberty. Many refer to them the next step in evolution, while others call them a disease to society. Since the world has existed, mutants have always been known to be feared by humans. As a result, there have been many bloodsheds and violence due to this discrimination. Some, however, believe in peace amongst humans and mutants alike. Others fight each other. Then some, just do as they please...

Not even a month have past since the riots in New York City and Russia. There are still news stories world wide as major stories and mutants have been blamed, especially the X-Men. This was all due to the murder of Russian Politician, Boris Schvets. Though it seemed like the X-Men member, Colossus, has murdered him, nobody knows that it was all the dirty work of Superior X. Since then, there have been many protests around the main gates of the Xavier Institute, harassing whoever had shown their faces outside, accusing the X-Men of being murderers. Colossus' whereabouts are unknown...

The real blame, however, was on two factions, Superior X in Russia and the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants in New York City. Their framing in the public has caused nothing but give the X-Men a new look on society, even to humans and mutants who had agreed to the X-Men's goals.

Superior X members have returned to their bases, only to sit and watch the trouble they have caused. Though their intentions are still unknown, they have proven they are forces to be reckoned with, no matter who one was. Little did they know, they had a problem on their hands...

The Brotherhood have returned to Genosha and decided to lay low for a while. While many of the members have decided to take a break and chill out, there are others that have begun to plot out their next plans, beginning with Berlin, Europe. Things had seemed to be going well with the Brotherhood. Magneto, Brotherhood leader, should be happy and satisfied. After the riot caused by the Brotherhood in New York City however, little did anyone know, an unknown man had placed a tracker on Brotherhood member, Marcus Blue. So are things really going as well for the Brotherhood as they think?

Meanwhile, behind closed doors, S.H.I.E.L.D. agents aren't getting it easy either. A lot of conflict behind closed doors, concerning the agents were permitted to kill without provable need during the New York Riot. Though in the public, have continued to take part in pacification duties along with federal law enforcement. What else could S.H.I.E.L.D. have up their sleeves? Better yet, they could easily be up someone else's sleeve at the moment.

Ever since those riots, people have been talking. Not just people walking down your street, or people in gossip groups. These people are people who have been waiting at this time, awaiting for the moment of something drastic such as this to occur. Now, these people are able to unleash something so destructible that it will leave a mark on all mutants alike.

After proven the innocents of Colossus, he was once again a free man. All of this was done thanks to Superior X, who had "managed" to find a tape revealing that it was a shapeshifter that had murdered Boris Schvets and not the Russian X-Man. All of this was a scheme to get the X-Men to find a trust with Superior X, therefore could possibly work together in the future. Meanwhile, a year after the death of Dann Chapman, fellow buddies Cymbalist and Quickstrike had set off to Genosha without telling a soul. Their goal was to find the murderer of their friend. Not known to either X-Man, they had found Loki, Brotherhood member and Dann's killer. Will they find out she is the one who had taken someone important from their lives.

Speaking of deaths, that isn't the only death the X-Men had to go through. Fellow student, Coin was murdered by current Glass Fox member Mime while Tim Finnegan, former teacher at the Institute, had hung and killed himself in the mansion's kitchen.

The time was a very hard one for the X-Men and it didn't help when Brotherhood member Chameleon had snuck in and stabbed a student named Devon. Not only that, but had her fall from the attic. Thankfully, Devon had survived the attack and Chameleon was dealt with thanks to the efforts of Storm, Ivy, and newly Xavier member Dead Eye. However, Devon must be in a wheel chair after the attack. The event had still affected the X-Men, due to a student was almost killed all due to a Brotherhood member sneaking into their mansion. The mansion defenses have been more secure since then.

Meanwhile, the Brotherhood takes a new direction with the faction, being into a more organized group and having it to join the Brotherhood be of more hard work. Mystique, Swarm, The Scream, and Dream Catcher have re-opened the Darkholme Foster Facility and keeping it to train young mutants into becoming fighters for the Brotherhood. Trainees include Paraylsis, Flare, Knight, and the sole male at the moment, Quicksand.

Acting as the world wide Brotherhood Terrorist are Blue, Loki, Juggernaut, and returned members, former Brotherhood leader Pyro and Sabretooth. This group continues to get bigger, which means a bigger threat to human kind. While with Lightfoot away for the time being, Glass Fox co-leader Rayn is current leader of the Glass Fox Commando, Brotherhood's newest faction, along with Hybrid, X-23, Animorph, and Mime. Though it seems as of lately, returning members, Pyro and Sabretooth have a problem with the new Brotherhood and Glass Fox, such as Soren and Rayn.

Though things in the world had begun to get even harder for mutants. It was revealed that Operation: Sentinel was brought back and in full force, along with new models. These new models are at a human size and are given the ability to shapeshift, therefore no one knowing of their presence. They had begun to act as spies across the globe, including at Genosha and possibly at the Xavier Institute. It's currently unknown if these sentinels have new powers as well if the giant sentinels are at large as well. It had seemed to taken refuge in the Savage Land. At this time, it's unknown as to exactly what is going on over there. Though it was revealed that these sentinels had captured many mutants and have used some as experiements. Some of those mutants include the Morlocks, Gem Stone, Night, Prince of Night, and even Brotherhood member, Blue as well as Brotherhood leader, Magneto. At the moment on Genosha, a shapeshifting sentinel continues to portray Magneto and fool the many citizens on Genosha. The person behind the sentinel activity is still unknown.

The X-Men had been aware of this, as well as Cymbalist and Quickstrike going to Genosha. Knowing that the two X-Men could get killed being in enemy terrority, Professor X, Gothica, and Psylocke had gone off to Genosha to inform Magneto and to get their comrades back. However, during the flight to Genosha, their jet had been attacked by the newest version of sentinels and had taken Professor X and Gothica hostage back on the Savage Land. While Psylocke had managed to escape, with the sentinels assuming she was dead. Psylocke, with no direction, just so happens to end up on the Savage Land, and it looks that the sentinels will not be her only problem...

Back at the X-Mansion, the X-Men come with a conclusion that they need to find more on these sentinels, though at the same time, search for their student Night and also protect the students at the Institute. Field leader Cyclops assembles two teams to go out on the field. One of those teams consist of Archangel, Shred, Gambit, and the untrusted Emma Frost. As their mission is to go out and search for the Night and Prince of Night. The other field team would consist of Cyclops himself, Storm, Havok, Iceman, and Shadowcat. As that team is to go out to Wyoming to investigate any possible sentinel activity. Exactly what they will find can be a turning point as well as to who is the sentinel's current main target?

Meanwhile all the other X-Men that consist of current headmistress Jean Grey, Rogue, Beast, Ivy, Nightcrawler, Colossus would join with staff members Spectre, former human, Vince Cross, Lennox, and counselor Breathless to put the mansion on lockdown until the problem with the sentinels would be solved. There is bound to be trouble among the mansion as Kaldieoscope, Lysek, Blue Rose, and Maiya may realize with being stuck inside.

Outside of this, there seems to be yet another mutant threat in the works, all dealing with a man named William Stryker and his group of Purifiers.

While a mutant group makes a comeback. The Black Queen has returned and resurrected the Hellfire Club, the first members being James Gilbert and Turk Blue. There's surely more to come, however, it seems as Superior X has their eye on Selene and the Hellfire Club. What do they have in store for her? And is the Superior X the only ones having their eyes on the Hellfire Club?

Who is the next mutant to be captured? What will the X-Men find? What will the sentinel acting as Magneto cause for the Brotherhood as well as Genosha as a whole? With leaders from both the X-Men and Brotherhood captured, will both factions be able to survive?

The sentinels plans have begun to go in motion:

First, Genosha had finally been attacked, surprising each and every mutant on Genosha. After a long fight within Genosha, only a few mutants had made it out alive and those remaining mutants headed to Genosha.

Meanwhile, the X-Men had regrouped back at the Xavier Institute with information that can lead them to where the sentinels were coming from. However, there was no time to think, as the X-Mansion was also attacked by the sentinels, with the same result of Genosha, most at the X-Mansion were taken by the sentinels. Only a few had made it to Muir Island.

The X-Men and Brotherhood were not the only ones being attacked, the returned Hellfire Club mansion had also been attacked, though the members wearabouts are still unknown...

Meanwhile, the Purifiers continue to plan their first step to wiping the mutant race clean off the map. Reverend William Stryker knows that whatever happens first, it must be done so well that it will leave the mutant race in shock. Their first targets being the X-Men.

SHIELD MTF and Superior X had begun to fight amongst themselves. SHIELD, trying to help innocent people and get them out of the way of Tempero and the Superior X's plans, whatever those plans are right now remains a mystery. However, not too far by, the sentinels are getting ready for their next attack, believing they got rid of the X-Men and Brotherhood completely, their next action comes into play.

Despite the differences between the X-Men and Brotherhood, the two decided that it was best to work together to stop this sentinel threat. One team headed to Manhattan, New York to battle the sentinels, while the other team of mutants headed to the main sentinel base in the Savage Lands. The X-Men and Brotherhood were not alone though, as mutants worldwide would assist in stopping the sentinels. Such as Superior X and the Hellfire Club making their way in Manhattan while SHIELD's Mutant Task Force made sure to help out in the Savage Lands.

In the end, the sentinel threat was destroyed, or at least died down for now. This was a once in a lifetime thing to have so many mutants working together, regardless of their differences. They had accomplished a lot. After the sentinels were destroyed, all factions and solo mutants went back to their own separate ways.

However, during all this commotion, the students at the X-Mansion were being attacked by the Purifiers on Muir Island. Only a few students were able to make it out alive...

One month later, everyone is trying to move on and accomplish their goals. The X-Men are still citing through some issues, due to the Purifier attacks and the Brotherhood are still rebuilding their ranks and Genosha. However everyone is moving on.

That, however, does not mean that another threat awaits in the darkness for mutantkind...
