Zeke roamed into the garden, dressed in his combat uniform. It was an outfit he designed when cosplaying his favorite character for a game convention last year, and a lot of people said he looked just like the character. He wore a pair of black black dress slacks, and he wore a black, leather cloak. The cloak zipped downwards, rather than upwards, though it was usually never zipped all the way down, leaving room for him to freely move. The zipper usually stopped just below his waist, and upon both hands were black letaher gloves. He just stood in the center of the garden, curious as to what brought him to stop here.

He intended to just pass through after a few moments of gazing, heading to the pool. Heck, he was even goign to be in his swimming trunks instead of his combat uniform, though something told him to wear it before he left his room. He looked around, and slowly sat on the ground as he closed his eyes. He began to focus on the psionic energy around himself, and created the barrier around himself. Sighing heavily, the barrier shattered, and he had a frustrated look upon his face. No matter how hard he tried to make something else, something offensive happen, he could only create the barrier. Slowly rising to his feet, he began to wonder if he should just give up on development.

"I can't do it!" Frustraction laced his voice, and a hint of pain was detected.

Psylocke walked through the beautiful backyard admiring the flowers and such around. She was dressed in her usual attire, especially after just leaving the Danger Room. Her sash blew in the wind behind her, accenting her figure. She'd come upon a young boy quietly. She was a ninja and knew he wouldn't be able to detect her. She saw the frustration of the boy after he focused his abilities on some sort of force-field.

As he yelled out in frustration, Betts made herself known. She had experiance with force-fields being a telekinetic, though she didn't know what kind of abilities the young student held upon viewing. "Having difficulties?" she kindly asked from behind. She walked upon the boys side.

Psylocke was known among the mutants as being a no-nonsense warrior, though she didn't consider herself to be so uptight. With her friends and loved ones, Betts was a rather laid back girl. She had many times before kicked back with the likes of Gambit and Wolverine, sometimes even outdrinking the men. The students didn't know her like that. None of the newer members did.

"Perhaps I could help you, if you like?" Despite Psylocke's living in New York for many years, she still retained her British accent, which was odd with her oriental body.

Psylocke's sudden appearance threw Zeke off, but he quickly calmed down. He listened as she questioned him, and slowly stood up. He just looked at her, partially awaiting an introduction. When he got none, he knew it would be up to him to do so. Slowly he began to calm down, and he even physically displayed so. His arms fell to his side, and all frustration left his face. His mind even relaxed, all thoughts focused on her offer to train him.

"My name's Zeke, what's your name and powers?" He spoke with curiosity, just looking up at her.

From the looks of her, she was a warrior of some sort. He didn't exactly know how she could train him, but he was up for anything she threw at him. He needed to be able to defend himself, even if that meant training outside of his powers. He just stood there, thinking on what he could learn from her. He was now smiling, a sort of pride overcoming him as she had approached him. Sure, this was mostly out of his frustration, but she offered to train him.

"Whatever you can teach me, I'd like to learn." He spoke politely, no longer seeming agitated.

Psylocke was a bit irritated that the boy didn't know who she was. She'd always been one of the more understated of the X-Men... a Trait the Shadow King once took advantage of. Perhaps he was newer around the school; she gave him the benefit of a doubt. She seemed to have taken him off guard by approaching so quietly. She'd even snuck up on Logan despite his superior senses. Of course, she was once a skilled telepath as well.

"Elizabeth Braddock. I am called Psylocke. I'm a telekinetic to put it lightly." and it was putting it lightly. Since resurrection, Betsy's telekinesis was unparalleled, even by Jean Grey's standards. Though, she didn't have the experience and finesse Jean had.

Zeke didn't quite look like the other students, especially being clad in so much darkness. He quickly seemed to get over his frustration, eager to learn anything she may be able to teach him. She learned her abilities earlier than many mutants and had been using them for a long time. Not only that, but as many times as her power set had changed, she had to relearn abilities and learn the different ways the powers were activated. Surely, Zeke knew the basics.

Betsy crossed her legs and sat indian-style, patting the grass beside her for him to sit. She glanced over as she patted to her memorial garden. It made her bitter thinking of such things, but she passed it from her mind. She was going to live for the here and now.

"How is it exactly that your powers manifest? Is it a telekinetic shield of some sort?" Betsy didn't know if it was similar to her own abilities or something more complicated.

Zeke did as he felt he was instructed to, and took a seat beside her, sitting indian style like herself. He just remained still, looking at her as she spoke. He kinda felt bad he didn't know who she was, but then again, he really didn't know much about the X-Men to begin with. He knew of them, who didn't, but he didn't know specifics. He mainly paid attention to Xavier's school, not the team of X-Men that 'reported' to him. He just smiled as she introduced herself, and his smile grew even brighter as her powers were similar to his own.

She was a telekinetic, and he was telepathic, though perhaps they weren't all too similar. Shrugging, he began to think about her question, not even sure how to answer it himself. All he knew was he gathered psionic energy around himself and withing his very being, though he didn't know exactly what it was called. He hadn't talked with anyone about his powers, nor had he tried to talk to anyone about it. He had been wanting to meet with Professor Xavier and see if he could give him some insight to his powers, all he really knew was the barrier he could create and his telepathy, which was really picky!

"I guess it's telekinetic, though I'm not really sure myself. I know it's not an elemental shield, and the only other thing I really know is it requires a lot of concentration, so telekinetic......or psionic is all I can think of." He wasn't even sure of telekinetic and psionic were two different things, and his own ignorance to his powers showed.

Psylocke nodded along with what the boy was saying. She understood much of what he said. Psionic abilities were generally the same with how they worked. Telekinesis and telepathy both required great concentration, which is why most of the Earth's psychics practiced meditation. It was difficult for a telepath to have a clear head, especially when so many thoughts were trying to force their way into the telepathic mind. A Telekinetic had to learn to project the abilities in certain ways, not just defying gravity all around.

"Concentration is key in any psychic abilities. Clearing your mind of any arbitrary thoughts while maintaining an even breathing. This is difficult in a battle where quick thinking is required. When I was a telepath, it was a constant struggle to keep everything out of my mind. Now, it's deafening silence." she paused, "So let's try creating your shield again. Can u make it just in front of you and not surrounding your entire body? That way maybe you'll have more strength in it. A shield is no good if anyone can break through it." She wasn't sure how far his abilities went, but any psionic ability has great potential. If he could use his shield in one place, not everywhere, he may also be able to shift it into other useful things in the future... With proper training of course.

"Alright." He spoke quietly, focusing on his Psionic Barrier.

Slowly the energy began to form, at first in front of him. Slowly, as more time began to pass, the barrier circled him, and completely surrounded him. Due to how close Psylocke was, when the barrier was created, not focusing purely around himself, the barrier extended to max width, also circling around her. Sitting there with his eyes closed, he focused on nothing except that, his hands resting lightly upon his knees. He kept his barrier up until either time expired and he lost his control, or until she told him to. He was student, and she was his instructor, that much was already clear to him.

Fortunately for him, focus was something he never seemed to lack, even in the middle of stressful situations. Perhaps he had enhanced focus, though knowing him, he was probably just trying to come up with another power. Forgetting the subject, he kept the barrier surrounding them, the violet energies shimmering in the light. Slowly the barrier gave way, shattering as Zeke's eyes slowly opened. Instead of appearing like shattered glass, the barrier dissolved like sand, tiny specks being all that was visible for a few moments. Slowly looking over at her, he wanted her opinion on his barrier, knowing she'd probably want to test it's endurance next.

Psylocke watched as the psionic barrier glimmered to life. It was a beautiful shade of purple, not too different than her own psionic manifestations. She watched as it engulfed the two of them. It was a definitely plus that he could make it manifest over more than one person, but it probably made it a weaker shield. Her eyes were wide watching his progress. Then, at once, it shattered into speckles, showering around them.

"You have no idea what kind of potential you hold." she hoped it would give him some sort of confidence in his abilities. "Now, if it isn't too taxing on you, do it one more time... and exclude me, if you can." She wasn't aware if he could exclude her, but if he couldn't than he was in trouble in close combat.

Clinching her fist, her mind formed a sword out of thought, surrounded in the fuchsia telekinetic energy. She would then pierce his shield, testing its endurance as he had anticipated. "Don't feel bad if it shatters instantly. My telekinetic abilities are unsurpassed."

"I should be able to put it up, I didn't make it last the full time last time." He spoke without confidence, closing his eyes once more.

Slowly the barrier began to form, just like last time, eventually covering himself. This time it was confined, leaving about 2 inches between his body and the barrier. He looked over at Psylocke as the sword appeared, and just waited, knowing what was to come. He simply kept his focus, awaiting her to test the endurance. He didn't know what to expect, though he waited for her to either press the blade against his shield, or strike it. She had said he had great potential, and he wanted that to be true.

Just sitting there, he kept focus on the shield, taking into account how long it had already been up. No more than a minute, nothing that would cause it to become unstable. He kept himself as calm and focused as possible, wanting to impress her. If his barrier could withstand her sword for even a few moments, that had to mean something. If her powers were really unsurpassed, then even wishtanding it for a few seconds meant he had what it took to become a great psionic user. Hopefully she could train him, and if she stuck to that, through her training become more masterful in his powers.

Psylocke smirked as the shield became visible once again. She could see that in a few years, his powers could expand greatly. She'd seen people in the past with similar abilities. They eventually were able to mold the shield, and even keep it turned on full time, always having a skinlike shield at all times. And if he could extend that over others, he would be a master of defense. His telepathy as well, but Psylocke was unaware of that ability at the time. Her own mind was closed off to any communication of telepathic prying.

She raised her katana above her head and very slowly lowered it onto the shield. At first, she was simply resting her katana on it, without any added pressure or focus at all. It seemed able to withstand that, but then Betts applied a great deal more pressure upon the shield....

At first the barrier held without problem, but the the pressure was applied. Through sheer force he maintained it, though it lasted mere moments. Suddenly it shattered, unlike last it, it was spontanius and forceful. He turned to face her, a look of dissapointment upon his face. He wanted to hold out until he lost control, not until she broke it. He felt a bit flustered, though he brushed the feeling aside. He needed to keep his emotions in check, especially when it came to his powers.

She was more powerful than he was, and his powers were still greatly under developed. He tried creating it again, just to push himself, but he couldn't create it. He relaxed, knowing these limits existed due to his lack of experience, also knowing they'd vanish as he became more experienced. He'd keep praticing until his powers grew, and even then, he wouldn't stop praticing. With some lie Psylocke trainging you, and someone like Molly as a friend, one had to push themselves.

"How was that Psylocke?" She spoke through small pants, being slightly tired already.

Psylocke's sword didn't shatter the shield as quickly as she expected. It held up for several moments, making her grin. Even under the power she was applying, it withstood a few good moments. She assumed that among his friends and peers, whose power was generally less than that of an X-Man such as Psylocke, that his shield would stand up against the worst of their attacks, as long as he could keep up his concentration. And the X-Cadets were more so A.D.D. than the more experiences, which could knock his seemingly unwaivering concentration off.

He seemed disappointed, though Betsy wasn't sure why. Everyone had to accept help at some point in their lives. There was a time in Great Britain when Betts needed training from her friend Alison when her telepathic powers first began to manifest. "I thought it was quite impressive. To withstand my psychic katana is something to be proud of, especially when it normally cuts through... virtually anything with ease." she could tell his was tiring out with his breathing and body language. "Are there any more... offensive skills you have? Or anything that could be used to help others in a battle?" She was referring to any kind of battle skills more so than other gifts, but his other gift would also be very useful.

He just listened to her praise his barrier, though he couldn't bring himself to smile. What she said next killed any joy he felt from the praise, he was indeed, as useless as a stupid barrier. She was wasting her time training him, and he didn't know how to tell her that. Slowly standing up, he just allowed his body to become limp, no movement happening what-so-ever. Finally he looked over at her, his body almost seeming to have stayed frozen for some time. He just shook his head, a look of sadness on his face.

"I have no offensive powers.......but please, teach me! I don't want to be useless, I have......someone I want to protect!" His please was out of desperation, and his look conveyed exactly how he felt.

A lightbulb flickered on. No wonder he was so eager to learn to control his abilities! There must've been some sort of girl in Zeke's life. It would also explain why he felt so down on himself. Betsy was just as much a sucker for some good gossip as any of the girls on the Estate. "Oh no, I cannot go on with any training until you spill the beans about everything!" she then looked around to make sure no one could hear.

"Okay go. Tell me everything, and then I will teach you some hand to hand combat...." she figured it would be a nice enough incentive for him to confide everything in her. She couldn;t control herself. It had been so long since anyone had confided much of anything in her.

OOC: srry short sad.gif epic fail on my part. I wanted to give u more to work with.

"It's nothing, just a small crush." He spoke quietly, embarrassed to even admit it.

He had hoped that would be enough, just to avoid going into further details. However, it wasn't going to be enough, and he knew it. Even though she was an X-Man, she was still female, and gossip was their thing. Sighing, he knew she had to know, and his face turned red. He had just met her, but already he liked her. She was his age, a mutant as well, and she was the most beautiful girl he had ever met. Of course, he'd never confess this to Molly, but he wished he had the guts to. Looking at Psylocke, the mention of hand-to-hand combat was alluring.

"Even though she doesn't need my protection, I want to keep Molly Hayes safe!" His voice was shaky from his embarrassment, but every word was true.

He cared for the young Hayes girl, even with the small amount of time they've spent together. There was something about her, she seemed so, independant. She acted as if she was already an adult, even though she claimed to hate them. Her little hats was another oddity about her, for her collection seemed unending. From the moment he meet her, with Cloak and Dagger, he wanted to be her friend. Now he wanted to protect her, now he wanred to be her shield. The hold she had on him was new to him, having never before been drawn to a girl to where he wanted to keep them safe.

You're being such a dork Zeke!
