Title: Omen of Silence
Description: Emma
Dream Catcher - December 28, 2011 08:08 AM (GMT)
The mutant world lay in chaos. Every faction had risen up in some form or another in reaction to the Mutant Registration Act. Hell, even SHIELD had taken action recently. Only one had kept themselves hidden. The Hellfire Club. Not a word or raise of a finger had come from them since the announcement had been made. And for a faction full of power-hungry billionaires that loved to hear their own voice, silence was never a good thing. So Dream Catcher had taken a stop in between her vacation and returning to the Asteroid. Renting a room in the hotel nearest the Hellfire Club mansion, she settled down for the night and allowed her mind to wander, searching for the mind of someone that possibly had answers.
It wasn't long before a dream was found. Dream Catcher entered it silently, remaining subtly as part of the scenery. There was no need to make her presence known yet. The dream itself was of no consequence to her. Just a random serious of events built by a stressed subconscious... Rather, she turned into the subconscious mind, the source of the dream, and began to sift through the memories, thoughts and feelings that were hidden there. As a result, the dream itself began to change... different characters appeared, scenery shifted, and the random sequence of events began to get a little more specific. It was changes that most minds wouldn't notice. Just the strangeness of dreams taking full affect. However, this wasn't most minds, was it?
Emma Frost - December 29, 2011 12:30 AM (GMT)
Emma was not normally a dreamer though every once in awhile her mind took off on its own as her mind summoned up a dream scape that was sometimes too much for her to bear as poor moral choices sometimes returned to haunt her. However tonight was a rather pleasant dream about some prince charming that had a familiar look but she could not place the face to save her life, that was of course until she notice subtle changes and when she focused she felt the presence of another mind. It was to late to close off her mind altogether but she managed to begin placing up all the walls need to keep the spy from gleaning any more information.
Once Emma was sure her deepest thoughts were safe she opened her mind and quickly found the intruder though the woman was rather had to find, she had implemented herself so well that Emma would not have even noticed if she was anything but a telepath. The dream scape shifted and changed to something new and with it Emma pulled the intruder into the change as she was ready to confront the mental spy. The scene was straight out of a Japanese movie as it appeared that they two women were located in some hidden mountain side locale. Emma sat in a lavish high back throne made of elegant black stained Cherry Blossom wood. She was dressed in an all white kimono but it seemed that the woman's rather...eccentric taste had morphed the traditional garb into something a little more revealing.
"Hello my foolish little spy, you have made a grave mistake entering my mind and digging through my thoughts. Who are you?" Emma said in a cold yet leveled tone as she crossed her legs in a lady like manner.
Dream Catcher - December 30, 2011 05:30 AM (GMT)
A few thoughts she reached for, were inaccessible, her mental fingers brushing across the seamless barrier. She didn't push, not wanting to draw attention to herself, and continued sifting through the parts of the subconscious mind that weren't protected. Then suddenly the world around her shifted violently, and the manipulator found herself thrown to the ground in front of an elegant throne. The even more elegant woman that perched atop it was clearly the owner of this dream... and Jaalel had to keep herself from swearing when she realized whose mind she had intruded on. Emma Frost... one of the strongest telepaths known. But it was far too late to withdraw now.
So, she took it all in stride. Rising to her feet, she faced the woman, hands folded behind her back as her own clothing changed to the traditional garb of a Black Foot shaman. "Dream Catcher." She replied simply, the symbol of her namesake appearing suspended above the woman's high-backed throne. Emma might be a telepath, but this was Jaalel's domain. Frost might be the owner of the mind... but Dream Catcher was the master of the dream.
Emma Frost - December 31, 2011 09:11 PM (GMT)
Emma smiled as the woman's control of her surroundings showed a great deal of power and strength. This was not quiet the astral plain but it was a domain of the mind though it was not one that she was was as familiar with as it was one that she did not explore. The woman offered up her mutant name which appeared in the grain of the wooden throne of the former white queen which was again impressive and worthy of praise. "You are quiet talented Dream catcher and your skills are rather impressive however it does not address why have you entered my dreams and thoughts so haphazardly."
Emma while confronting the woman in her dreams was also reaching out with her mind trying to trace the woman's wave pattern back to its source. Once that is accomplish Emma would then try and force her way in and gather whatever she could before the woman noticed the intrusion and flee to the confines of her own mind. This was a rather difficult task as she could not let Dream catcher know what was happening while also keeping her out of her thoughts much to the same effect the woman must keep Emma occupied while trying to find the weakness in her defense.
"So who do you work for and what are you after?" Emma said as she remained motionless as outside the temple it began to snow lightly.
Dream Catcher - January 16, 2012 06:16 AM (GMT)
Her biggest weakness when she was in someone's dream was that it left her body unconscious and unaware. Not only that, but it separated her subconsciousness - which was in the other person's mind - from her consciousness, which was left in her own body. Even if Emma was capable of tracing her back to her own mind, Dream Catcher was powerless to stop her. But that didn't really matter. Not to Jaalel, anyway. She had no secrets. And she was just returning from an extended vacation... her recent activities would hold nothing of interest.
"I'm here out of sheer curiosity." It was true she worked for the Brotherhood, but they weren't the ones that sent her. No one sent her. "The whole world is in chaos. Everyone - mutant and human alike - have shown themselves in some way. Everyone except the Hellfire Club." It wasn't like them not to take advantage of the chaos the world was in. Rise up in one solid stance or another, showing off their big sparkly faces. There was a reason for their silence. Dream Catcher wanted to know what that reason was.
Emma Frost - January 16, 2012 09:44 AM (GMT)
"You know what they say about curiosity? Instead of lurking around in my dreams I wonder why you did not approach me face to face? It is so unseemly to invade someone's thoughts without at least trying the traditional ways to gather information!" Emma said as she had no problems with being hypocritical from time to time. She did not practice what she preached nor would you make any efforts at least with out good cause. However she was still confused as to why or how the woman knew of the club not that it was beyond reason but only those involved with the under world workings or that of some of the elite mutants knew of the clubs inner workings.
"Why oh Why do you want to know about the Hellfire club? Not to mention why do you believe I have any connection to the club?" Emma said as she began to change the scenery to something far more interesting as weapons appeared out of then air all around them. Emma stood from her throne and walked over to one of the racks of weapons and pulled off a rather intimidating Katana and began to twirl it slightly as she tried to put in place the true weight of the weapon and once she was happy she stood in front of the young Dream catcher as she weighted to see how she would react.
Dream Catcher - January 16, 2012 10:12 AM (GMT)
"Curiosity killed the cat." Jaalel repeated the age-old adage that was most commonly referenced when someone went snooping about where they didn't belong. But as she continued, an amused grin lifted the corners of her lifts. "But satisfaction brought it back." The second part of the quote that people tended to forget about. Of course they only remembered whatever suited their purpose. Why didn't she ask? Where would the fun have been in that? "Oh come now! If I had strolled through those gates and asked you what you have been up to, would you have honestly told me anything other than tea parties and galas?" Jaalel wasn't that stupid.
The world around them began to shift, but even though Dream Catcher wasn't the cause, she was still fully aware of every millimeter that lined this false reality. Weapons? They would be useless against her. But as the White Queen began to examine and adjust a katana, the young Native felt it would be smartest to play along, at least for a little bit. "The Hellfire Club has always been of interest to me. And with my recent inheritance, I thought I'd take a closer look. But just when I'm about to ask some questions... Poof. They disappear, right out of society." Lies, all except for the inheritance part. If she remembered correctly, the entire Blue family was part of the Hellfire Club's social network, for all she knew that membership was part of the inheritance. She hadn't exactly looked into it that much. Jaalel moved to one of the walls, her fingertips trailing along the blades. Reaching a pair of sais, she slid them into her hands, the lengths taking on an octagonal shape, the prongs rounding ever so slightly to be easier to spin. "I honestly wasn't searching for you. I searched that fancy mansion of yours for any minds that were resting. I can't even begin to describe the honor it is to have come across such a beautiful, brilliant mind as your own." She turned to face the woman once more as she spoke, arms sweeping out to her sides as she bowed at the waist. A gesture of mockery and sarcasm... but Dream Catcher wouldn't be herself without either of those. Straightening, she waited.
Emma Frost - January 21, 2012 08:11 AM (GMT)
Emma was no pro with a sword but in this lavish dreamworld she did not have to be as she was no longer held back by the confines of her mortal body. Here she could defy the very laws of gravity and alter reality with a mere thought or whim. Here was were gods and goddesses played for sheer entertainment and it is for that reason that she did not try and wake herself from this dream. She wanted a little entertainment and who else better to find that in then a worthy advisory.
Emma smirked as the woman bowed in a mocking sorta of way as she let slip from her mouth pretty little lies. Emma did not need to be a psychic to figure out when someone was lying to her. If the girl had tried to reach Emma then she would have reached her and that was as simple as that though the former Kings and Queens were less than competent in their recruitment of fresh talents. Emma had a knack for finding the diamonds in the rough and if she had came across the woman under more favorable circumstance then she would have offered her a place a her table.
Emma paced slowly in a circle making sure never to show the woman he back unless she wanted to allow the woman an easy win. "The Hellfire Club has a history of vanishing from the spotlight from time to time but we have never truly left and if your interest were genuine then I would have had no problem sharing a few things with you. However you would have had to join the club first... but that is hardly a draw back considering all we have to offer. I am now in control of the club and the time for sitting and waiting is soon coming to an end but what role we will play in the days to come will remain secret to only myself and those that I trust. Would you be interested in joining me?" Emma asked as she took a quick step towards the girl and brought her sword down at the girl where the shoulder met the neck. It was a move that would no doubtly kill its victim if it landed but this was the dreamworld and so here nothing was what it seemed.
Dream Catcher - January 31, 2012 03:20 AM (GMT)
Join her? The thought had never really occured to Jaaelel. Sure, thanks to Blue she had quite a bit of money now, but she had never planned on using it for herself. The forced vacation, perhaps buying herself a new motorcycle... but a majority of it she had planned to put into the training program, to keep from draining the Brotherhood's resources. However, Blue himself had been part of the Hellfire Club, wasn't he? Not the Inner Circle, to her knowledge, but could it really be all that bad? While her thoughts were spinning, she responded methodically to the strike, stepping to the side and pivoting her body as she brought her own sword around to block the attack.
"What exactly would that entail?" It was still difficult to picture herself as part of the Hellfire Club, but there had to be some advantages to it. The Brotherhood could always use a set of eyes and ears in the different factions. And it would give her something to do beyond training. In a fluid movement she brought her own sword down and up, deflecting the other woman's sword out of the block and up in to strike at her waist, just between her hipbone and ribcage. She wasn't stupid enough to accept an offer the moment it was made. Especially not from them.
Emma Frost - February 7, 2012 06:01 AM (GMT)
Emma smiled as the woman inquired further into what she had to offer which was the ultimate goal. Emma doubted that the woman was willing to turn her back on the brotherhood which would be an issue but the woman's talents were impressive. It was not the first time that the brotherhood members joined the ranks of the club none had yet been given a permanent place with in the inner circle. Money, Power, and skills were the three founding blocks of the club but sadly these ideals had caused a great deal of turmoil which she had decided to change with the absence of Sebastian and Selene. The future was looking bright for the club and not to mention beneficial for all those involved.
Emma watched as he attack was deflected and the woman aimed an attack at her side. The movement was flawless and if this were the real world the attack would have done some damage that was if she was not able to transform into diamond fast enough. However since this was a realm were the rules did not apply she was able to do what she was about to do. Emma simply did a back flip as she dodged the blow like something straight out of the matrix. She landed gracefully a few feet away with a look of pure delight on her face. "I could provide a worthy ally by helping you with your powers not to mention I can open doors for you that the Brotherhood and Magneto could not dream to achieve. You will be free to come and go as you please as long as you do not attempt to pull the wool over my eyes ... because I would have little issue with leaving you in a permanent coma till the end of days." Emma said as she waited for the woman to make the next move hoping that the display would bring out the woman's more creative side.
Dream Catcher - May 16, 2012 05:38 AM (GMT)
So the woman had traced their mental link back to her consciousness. Fair enough. The fact that she was part of the Brotherhood wasn't much of a secret. The sword twirled effortlessly in her hand as she glided to the side, circling around the elegant woman. The offers tempting... Very tempting. But a change of loyalties would take a lot more than a simple conversation. And when it all came down to it... "I don't need help with my powers." The statement was made simply, with no hint of emotion attached to it. A fluid movement cast the sword away from her, arcing towards her opponent. Every spin released an additional sword, which in turn multiplied as well, and in the blink of an eye a full circle of swords had surrounded the White Queen, closing in as they spun in unison.
That was only a fraction of the events occurring simultaneously. A flurry of snow flowed down the walls, pooling across the floor like fog, before swirling in a funnel between them, stretching back towards the ceiling. A crash of thunder, a flash of lightning, and a heavy downpour of rain threatened to flood the room they were in. Yet somehow, Dream Catcher seemed untouched by the drastic weather, except for the wind that toyed with her hair and clothes. A mild display of power for her... yet still a promise of more to come.
Emma Frost - June 30, 2012 02:17 AM (GMT)
So much time, so little to do was the thought process of Emma at the moment as a different side of the white queen began to awaken in her, a side that few had ever seen and one even more should be terrified by as it was far more unstable than what the real world could imagine. Emma was even more impressed by the vast power the woman commanded in such a place especially against a powerful telepath like herself the world was flawless and with each change that took effect doing so seamlessly without any inclination that anything was out of the ordinary. However as Emma knew what was happening she would be hard to fool or deceive but that did not mean she was unable on the contrary she was not as strong in this world as she was in the real world which gave Dream catcher the home field advantage.
The swords were pressing in on her which was a rather bothersome annoyance however with cunning she would was already working on avoiding as the floor behind Jaalel began to rise up in a a liquid state with deadly silence that was twice covered by the sudden storm now brewing in side the dojo. It shape was humanoid at first and as the swords closed in every closer to Emma, it began to form into the exact likeness of the white queen herself. In truth it was the real Emma Frost who had laid hidden within a fold of the dream world as a puppet or illusion faced the woman on her behalf. However this Emma was dressed in something more
fitting. In the blink of an eye the puppet was torn to pieces before their eyes as it gave one more terrifying scream before ending up in piece on the floor. The real Emma however would waste no time as she reached for the back of Jaalel head where she would throw the woman against the opposing wall with enough force to at the very least destroy the beautiful dojo. However she knew that Jaalel would not be so easily tricked so in the back of her mind she began to reconstruct a small portion of the environment in case things went sour as she had no idea what the woman had planned for the storm which now covered her from head to toe in water.
