SYLVESTRA
The Ancient House of Sylvestra, a House of medium-to-ancient age in England, is the most prestigious of the Australian Pureblood families, existing in the country since the 1790s. Only the Cossington and Lyall families are older, although neither possesses the Sylvestra family's influence, prestige or breeding. While there is a tendancy for older members of the family to view Muggles and Muggleborns as inferior, there is growing sentiment away from that, and one of the younger Sylvestras are even married to a Muggle woman.

RATHWELL
The Rathwells have been in Australia since the middle of the nineteenth century, and also place in the top five most powerful. The first ever Minister for Magic was a Rathwell, and the family has always been in a high position in politics.

COSSINGTON
Some of the original settlers of Australia after the convicts, the Cossingtons are the oldest (although not the most influential) wizarding family in Australia. They rank somewhere in the top five most powerful, however.

LYALL
One of the oldest families in Australia, only the Cossingtons are older. They also rank highly in the top five most powerful families, and many powerful leaders have been Lyalls.

PRESTON
A top five family, the Prestons have only been in Australia since the early 1900s, but have quickly become one of the most important families in the country. They are one of the two families who were known to have supported Voldemort during the war, and one member, Joseph, Beater for the Wollongong Warriors, has been disowned for his refusal to bow to family expectations.

A minor family, the McClellands originally hail from Ireland. They have been in Australia since the 1890s.

An old Barossa family, the Searles have been in Australia since the 1890s. There has been some controversy when an unnamed member of the family was thrown out of Wolfshaw for illicit use of potions in the 1970s.

DAVIS
The Davis family, a minor family despite maintaining pureblood status since at least the 12th century, hailed from the Lake District of England before emigrating to Australia in the 1830s. Their limited prestige comes partially from the fact that they tend to shy away from fame and fortune and status, and partially from their curiously short life span (which some view as evidence of a polluted bloodline).

Thanks! I just need a teeny bit more information - how are they related to each other? And how are they related to Gabe? Also, which team did Jeremy play for? There's twelve to pick from But the ones in New South Wales are Sydney Phoenix, the Wollongong Warriors (top of the league!) and the Riverina Rangers.

Ooh - slight issue there. If Allison was Healer of the Century in the fifteenth century, there's no way that her son would be in Australia - white people didn't even arrive until 1788, and the first family (the Cossingtons) arrived with them. So... either Allison would have to be from MUCH later (like, the 1700s or 1800s, and the 1700s is borderline!), or Alexander would have to be, like, her great-great-great-great-great-grandson or something.

Okay, so I've been working on this a while. Kind of. I got a little OCD about the family tree and all the names (an arduous and taxing, yet somehow gratifying and fulfilling task), but only a wee bit about the family histories. Yes, Ajax was from a pureblood family, though with a slight twist, and the Davis family is and was (for several centuries now) a minor family, and relatively new to Australia. But you'll have to wait for the goodies until some future date.
