Physical Description: Jess is tall for his age, and still growing. He's got the look of a kid going through a growth spurt, with all his limbs just a little off-balance. He's got a lean build and is stronger than he looks. Though he is as fast as he looks. He's got a round face and an easy smile and a perpetually tousled look, as if he always just got out of bed or off a broom. He really doesn't give any attention to his appearance, though he knows he's a 'cute kid' and isn't above cashing in on that. He tends toward muggle jeans and t-shirts, and they are always wrinkled from never being hung up.

Personality: Jess has one goal in life: to be the absolute best. He loves sports, especially Quidditch, and works at it with a single-minded passion. In fact, there’s really only one thing that saves him in this regard, and it’s that he honestly does love sports. He’s not out to become famous or to beat everyone else; for the most part the only true competition he sees on any field is himself. In part because he knows he’s good, and in part because he doesn’t really care how good or bad anyone else does, as long as he does better than the last time he played. He’s more than a touch arrogant when it comes to his own skills, and when he shows genuine appreciation for someone else’s talents it can come as a bit of a shock.

Some people assume that Jess has a short attention span, but the opposite is true: he gets hyper-focused on things. If the class/subject/matter at hand isn’t what he wants to focus on at the moment, then he simply has no time for it. But once he gets into something, there’s no stopping the boy. He’s almost never seen sitting completely still. It’s even rare to see him sitting at all.

Jess is fearless and headstrong. This applies both on and off a field of sports and he sees himself as something of a vigilante when it comes to bullies of any sort. This can get him into trouble at times, as he rarely stops to asses a situation before barging in and trying to ‘save the day.’ He’s brash and rarely stops to consider much before making a decision, and while trusting his instincts serves him well in sports it’s a hit-and-miss way to do things in real life. His personality often comes off as loud, boisterous, and over-the-top, but he tells himself that he’s cute enough (physically and personally) to make up for it.

History: Jess was born and raised in Australia to a muggle-born witch/wizard couple in Trigg. His was the only magical family for some distance, the larger community being located in Perth, and they lived like their muggle neighbors for the most part.

Jess was the first-born of the family, and his early years can be most accurately summed up in two words: “Slow down!” Jess would get into anything and everything he could, but more than anything he loved going down to Trigg Beach and watching the surfers there. He took up the sport as soon as he was old enough and hardly a day would go by when he wasn’t outside on the waves.

When Jess was 7 his twin younger sisters were born and they were about the only thing that could make him sit still. His mother told him he couldn’t hold a baby until he could sit perfectly still for five full minutes, and for young Jess that was the hardest thing anyone could ask of him. But he did it anyway. He loved his sisters and when Ruth fell off a changing table he managed to quickly and awkwardly levitate her before she hit the floor. It near gave his mother a heart attack, but the girl was okay and it was the first time anyone can remember him intentionally doing magic.

Jess entered Wolfshaw at 11 where he was finally allowed a broom; before his parents had been afraid to let him loose in a muggle neighborhood on one. He took to that as passionately as he had once taken to surfing and pretty much proved that his parents had been right to deny him before by constantly getting in trouble with his flying.

A tragic coincidence saved Jess from experiencing the Darkness at Wolfshaw. Just after the Fae arrived, but before they became obvious, one of Jess’ sisters died in a home accident and he left to go home and be with his family. It was intended to be a short leave, but once it became clear something was wrong back at school his parents convinced him not to go back. He watched, worried, and fretted, but all from a safe distance, and returned to school for his fourth year.
