Hi all,

I just created a new demon that I plan to use in the TDE campaign which we're going to start this Sunday. I want to share it with you... Hope somebody will enjoy these nasty creatures. I got the idea mixing the Succubi as presented in the Warlords Battlecry RTS games and the Mord-Sith from the Sword of Truth saga (for the background). Here come description and stats.

SUCCUBUS
Succubi are servant demons have the sexy looks of the most attractive women, with beautiful faces and sweet voices. They usually wear very tight red leather vests on their perfect bodies. However they cannot conceal their demonic nature, having large bat-like wings that allow them to fly.
They are extremely cruel: they find intense pleasure in torturing the body and soul of the innocent. They are strong and cunning, fast and ruthless.
Also known as the “Gatherers of Soul”, they are highly-prized companions of their masters. Their seductive voices and beautiful faces are known to lure unwitting mortals to their deaths. The twin Soulblades of a Succubus, can rip the very spirit of a creature from its body, and this spirit can then be devoured by other Daemons to increase their magical power.
The Dark Powers created Succubi transforming the most beautiful and innocent girls with a wicked ritual. The victims suffer years of unspeakable tortures so that they develop a deep, senseless hatred for every living being. The tortures continue until the girls will is so twisted that they ask to become Succubi. The ritual involve dreadful deeds and pain beyond reason; once it is over, a Succubus retains none of her previous humanity.
In combat, Succubi can attack twice per round with their twin blades (during their Initiative phase and five phases later).

Cool demon, has something simulair with the official Hanaestil, a five horned demon from Belkelel. She's so beautiful that every male who sees here get most of the time crazy.
Intresting about this demon is however, that it indicates that cerain demons have one gender, since she never appears in some male form. THIS indicates that there is a certain order in the chaos of the 6 circle.

Strange about your demon is, that it asks "premision" to convert the girls to some demon. Demons aren't made by that. Their made of the souls of "Verdammenis*" people (necromaners, thugs and that kind of stuf).
Tortuing of people for converting is rather something for foul magic, I think. Does me think of the way of make some harpys. Their human bodys are also tortured.

*don't know right word in English, something like "cursed".

Now... can anybody give some official info on Succubi?

Seems like every idea I write down is already in the German rules... now I would really like to get my hands on them... and be able to do something with them... like reading the stuff perhaps dry.gif

I think in TDE, Succubi aren't really demons, but rather people, possessed by demons from Belkelel's realm or daimoides from Belkelel.
I'll try to look it up ASAP!

With that kind of background you could make them some kind of sekt (how do you write that?) of Hanaestil-worschippers (female that is).

I like the idea BTW. Maybey a plot for an adventure?????

It could be... for now I want three of them (somewhat more powerful than the stats written above) to guard an old tower. At the top there is a portal which can bring the party back into Aventuria - they're currently on another world. But it's very likely that they won't be back in 9 a.H. from what I know of WoA...

But stil I thank they would be a demon, but more a kind of vile magic. Demons don't torture for making demons.

I'm not sure, Grubolsch. In TDE, demons are "creatures" of chaos and diversity, so why shouldn't some "torturing demons" exist?

Especially those demons to Belkelel (among which you'ld probably find Succubi) are more often than not sadistic to the extrem - I recall a scene from Ulli Kiesows "Das Zebrochene Rad" (his last book), which would fit into that scheme....

Sartokos, afcours there are demon who likes to torture people. But they do this only becouse its their "nature". They don't do it to convert people into demons. Demons aren't made at that way. They are created from the souls of "Verdammenis" people. (something like "the doomed")
The only way that's maybe possible, is to torture them to dead, then recal them by necromantic magic, and then kill them again. There soul is automaticly doomed then, and they become demons.

I see your point, Grubolsch. Perhaps it's more vile magic than a demonic thing.
Anyway, I'll let my characters fight three of these beasts... You don't have to explain what they are exactly... wink.gif

If/When the supplements on Magic and Daemons will come out I will understand how these things works... For now, I think that the differences are too subtle for players who only have basic rules. Heroes will have to live knowing that the world they are in (which in the particular case is NOT Aventuria) is infested by some foul, vile, nasty creatures of supernatural origin. But they should draw their swords quick rather than ask themselves too many questions...

Again I'm not sure, Grubolsch... in my mind "Das Zerbrochene Rad" implies that during the (final) torturing, the evil mage (I'm referring to "Mengbillar" - as a character, not as a weapon) is turned into a lower demon....

I don't know the story of "Das Zerbrochene Rad", my German isn't good enough to read a complete roman of it.

Sorry, forgott this topic....

The mage was a follower of Borbarad during his return, and entered a pact with Belkelel, the adversary of Rahja.

After "misusing" his granted demonic powers even from the demonic pervertert point-of-view, he suffered mentioned torture as a "pennance" and to gather his soul to the Netherhells...

Considering your German - reading books (collections of short stories and novells) is one of the best way to improve - beside following films on German, but I would recommend that only if German is the original language, and that applies sadly only to rater few (good) films.

I'm quite new to this message board, so please do excuse me for my inexperience.
I think succubi are indeed demons, that is if Aventurian demons at all resemble our own myths. But I'm sure you are familiar with the succubi, so I'll skip that part. What I've been wondering is, why do people always forget the incubi (sort of a male counterpart for the succubi). They are at least as important as succubi, and yet I haven't seen any info about them. Besides, if modern RPGs claim to be aiming at equality between men and women, shouldn't there be something for the ladies aswell tongue.gif. Joking, of course, but anyways, I wonder why incubus is almost never mentioned in lieu of the popular succubi.

Because most RPGer are male and straight (at least all RPGers I know off)... Incubi are not so hot to us, I guess biggrin.gif

And I surely know what succubi and incubi are in our myths. In DSA they resemble them but are not the same.
Succubi and incubi (not sure if these exist, probably they do) are more similar to vampires caused by demonic posession.

What kind of a demonic spirit are we talking here? And could it be that a very powerful mage could summon the spirit in question to possess another being? Also I'd like to know if the spirit of the succubus/incubus travels after the demise of it's former host. If so, it might be possible for a powerful mage to make the demonic spirit manifest in a "lesser form" as a punishment, or in the hopes of interrogating the wretched spirit. I think if it were possible, the requirements would be high, e.g. you'd need a highly skilled demonologist with a vast knowledge in possession and domination (mainly to hold the foul spirit caged, against it's will inside a physical body). If there is info about such spirits in any of the supplements for DSA, then I'd look for there, as basically, from what you've told me, succubus is just another wandering spirit with a twisted and foul personality.

First of all, you should know that Aventuria has changed ingame in the last 15 Aventurian years.
There was the resurrection of an incredible powerfull evil sorcerer, called Borbarad. This malevolent wizard was referred to as being "the demon master".
He 'created' (or reestablished) many before then unknown ways of demonology.
One of these ways is the idea of 'daimonids'. Daimonids are semi demonological beings, born out of the mating of living creatures and demons. There are many, many, many different kinds of daimonids.
Succubi are possessed by demons. Therefore, mostly a mage with quite some power -probably due to a pact with an arch demon, which is something like a 'demon god'- summons these chaotic beings and attaches them to a -very likely unwilling- human being.
As Borbarad has not only changed the ways of performing demonology, but actively breached the frontiers of the spheres, which made that demonology is far easier than before his return. This makes it more easy to perform these kinds of magic.
The consequences of this are, that before these 15 years, demons suffered from being in the realm of the living. Now they do not dwell here anymore in agony, but can be free and enjoying their manifestation.
This means, that in very unlikely events, the succubus spirit might break free.
The Succubi and Incubi are from the realm of Belkelel - Mistress of the Bloody Extasy, also called Dar-Klajid. Belkelel is the arch demon who stands for uncontrolled lust and torturing extasy. The most important difference to her counterpart, the deity Rahja is, that Rahja allows everything, as long as all the involved people agree to the things that are going on. (Needless to say: demons are NEVER okay for Rahja... even NOT if all parties agree.)
Hence Belkelel stands for rape and the likes.

Before these 15 years, there were no such things as succubi. So, it is VERY important in which era you are playing your campaign.

It's a bit of a chaotic answer, but I hope it helps!

First of all, sorry for this comment to be so late. I largely forgot all about this topic, until recently that is.

So... this is almost exactly as it is in physics; the second law of thermodynamics. Entropy here, obviously concerns the breach, the breach of demons that were held close and now were let run rampant. The demons flocked from the Netherhells, and this sudden change created balance between these two planes, somewhat.
Borbarad seems like a nasty fellow. Most of my knowledge about the previous editions come from the PC games so, my knowledge about the subject is limited. In Shadows Over Riva there was a twisted, sinister wizard's tower in a marsh crawling with dangerous beasts and creatures of darkness. Okay, it was basically a tower made out of stone sitting in a swampy place, and the beasts weren't THAT horrifying. The mage was a worshiper of Borbarad, and had an altar dedicated to him. Borbarad seems to be pretty popular among the "freelance" demonologists and cultists, of course.
But you know... nowadays in Aventuria (34 Haal is it?) some of the academies are thinking of making use of demonology. They are beginning to see different aspects in it; demons might be good for other things besides merciless killing, atrocities and mayhem.
In Aventuria pure "evil" does not exist. Therefore it is impossible to say, as of just yet, what may come of this all. Let us hope that Ethra doesn't turn into Netherhells nr. 2. biggrin.gif
Besides, then we would have to resurrect some cheesy angelic, goodie-good archmage from Alveran. Yech... this starts to sound like some horrible shonen anime or an EMO's fantasy. I mean darkness among light is cooler than light in the dark, well I'm no goth, nor a heavy-metal-listener, so I might not know, but that is my opinion ninja.gif . So... guild mages, remember - moderation, it is the key in almost anything!

Thank you! And Thank you even more if you went through the trouble of reading through all that text.
