Hi this is the test model for my new army, i hope to have every model this standard or better.

Things I like
-The yellow, contrasts nicely but still subtle enough to be elves, I used vallejo paints which are awesome
-The gems, hd some practice with my eldar but im glad i can still do them
-The skin, much lighter than 'Elf Flesh' which is comparatively dark
-The white, i used Vallejo's Pale greyblue which is perfect for shading white
-The robes decoration, especially the freehand rune which came out awesome
-The bases, he material i bought was well worth the money

Things i dont like
-The bowstrings, very fiddly and not quite taut, this will need practice
-The feather, could use more highlights than two
-The bow stock (wood) i like the colour and tried to add some woodgrain but its too subtle to be noticed

So those are the things im gonna change. Again any critique or questions are welcome, looking forward to painting the rest of the army up for the brighton doubles.

The painting is good, I don't like the clour scheme though yellow doesnt work with light clours like white in my opinion its more of a dark elf colour, you want more natural colours, but thats personal preferance

I understand what your saying but im intrigued as to why you think yellow is a dark elf colour, also you say natural colours, but yellow is quite natural i thought? The reason i chose yellow was i didnt want to do another blue elf army and yellow was something i hadsnt seen before.

the reason i say its a dark elf colour is its the colour of the dark elves in the citadel painting guide.

And yellow isnt really natural Natrual colours are Green, red and blue However primary colours are red blue and yellow its a funny system but meh. I just think the yellow isnt contrasting enough to the cloth maybe if you made the cloth darker rather than whit eit could look better again personal preferance.

I think we are going to have to agree to disagree, as i really love the subtleness between white and yellow. I completely understand what you mean though it was one of my worries the two colours would look rubbish together, in my opinion it came out alright though.

i think the yellow works really well, and i respectfully and completely disagree with yellow being a "dark" elf colour, i think youve done a good job with i spose an akward colour setup as yellow and white can be (for some) hard to distinguish, well done!

+UPDATE+
Hi ive finally finished a unit of archers for your viewing and my gaming pleasure.

Not sure i could say these were fun to paint as the sculpts are quite plain but i did learn alot whilst painting them, my skill in freehand has improved vastly for instance and although the runes are simple i am very happy with them.

I have made some changes to the bases, now sporting some lovely flowers, i hope this type of basing goes down well as it is (as far as im aware) completely unique.

Next up im painting some swordmasters, which i still owe rob cash for. These are surprisingly fun to paint and something different from archers.

yer well as things go, i will agree with my other comment, it all works really well the colours tie in very nicely, it is hard to paint yellow and white well, so good job dude!

Yea man well done, Ginga Ninja!

But yea swordmasters for me are really easy compared to cloth, i acually had fun painting mine even though they were mostly paintedto begin with, we should totaly piss around next saterday meet to finally have some relaxed gameplay.

it could of been the spell to give them stubborn + i dont think having small units of them really makes up for what a combat monster they can be.

in small units all they seem to do is the job of the spearmen to babysit the bolt throws and tbh thats just a waste of points. to be fair i would much prefer to get a larg block of phenix guard for a mage bunker and have some flanking white lions with maybe 2 units of 5 dragon princes this might just might be a list i would buy the models for lol
