Chantico Forest Chantico Forest is spans the north-west area of Xanctsu Island and was cut off from Majitsu Forest only because of the growing difference in trees. Cikuq Bay Facing the less turbulent waters of the Atlantic Ocean, Cikuq Bay has generally always served as a quiet place. The beach is very sandy, and is surrounded by cliffs all around which create caves. Akemi Mountains The Mountains are generally hit hard with snow in the winter and can be treacherous to venture through during the winter. Many caves run through the mountains, some leading to dead ends and others acting as shortcuts to various areas about the mountains and even further into the heart of the mountains. Arenkko River Arenkko River lies in the heart of Tecchni Meadow, splitting the meadow into two portions in the summer. Arenkko Lake Connected by Arenkko River, Arenkko Lake serves as Kaono's water source. The water is fresh and pure from the lake and, though generally frozen over (except for summer), it also serves the inhabitants of Kaono with much food. Although it is frequented by the inhabitants of Kaono, wolves are generally seen by the river when following it to come to or from Drachitu Forest (when travelling from the north). Drachitu Forest Spanning the entire south-eastern portion of the island, Drachitu Forest is vast and consists mostly of tree-covered flats and rolling hills. Nahtonui Lake, which opens into the ocean, as well as the eastern coast of the island border the forest. It spans northward until reaching the southern banks of Kiaquo Lake. Majitsu Forest Spanning the south-western portion of the island, Majitsu forest is well resourced with Kiaquo lake near its heart and many caverns lining its coast. The Town of Kaono Once the sight of a watchtower, the town is located at the most north-eastern point of the island. When it first became available to the public, it was used mainly as a camping ground for hunters, but was later expanded into an actual town when the project came into play. Various people from northern parts of Canada, the United States and Russia (and some colder-climate areas of Europe) began to come to the town to start a more rural way of life. Here, dogsled is the only means of transportation aside from walking (no skidoos, because the inhabitants would have to travel to Newfoundland, Canada, to get the gas to power them). Jack's Diner/Tavern In the heart of the town is the most well known and visited building. Jack's Diner rests on the first floor of the building. Open 24 hours, it has many happy customers who come for their morning coffee or a full meal. Above the diner is Jack's Tavern, open 24 hours as well, though it sees less traffic. Xanctsu Island's Wildlife Research Institute Near the edge of town, the building closest to the island's wilderness, is the headquarters for Project TWIG. A large grey building with mirrored windows reflecting outside to keep what is inside hidden. Heavily guarded. Not by personnel, but through technology. Passwords must be used to open doors, followed by fingerprint identification. The Forlorn The dog kennel. Where the new shipments of sled dogs are brought when they reach the island. The dogs fear this place, as it is where their fate is decided; whether they go to a good home, or a bad home. The best dogs are sold to the highest paying customer and the weaker dogs are sold for whatever price the kennel owner can sell them for. The dogs are placed in cage-like pens with high walls (which are also place a foot below the ground) to avoid any escape. The Conditioning Circle The training grounds. It begins with a wide, long straightaway until the wide track leads to three different trails, each crossing over each other at certain areas over the course. The course circles the entire town of Kaono before returning to the start and the wide straightaway. This is where teams, new and old, come to train.
