O´CC - January 18, 2007 12:25 PM (GMT)
Hello everyone. Maybe I´ve missed a topic that was already talking about this scene, but I would like to know a bit about the groups in this country.
A general review it would be great.
Thanks.

The fan-culture is still quite small in Finland, but it's growing more and more all the time. The biggest teams like HJK and Tampere United also have the best supporters. HJK has two supporter-groups. Forza HJK represents Italian style of supporting with lot's of tifos. Sakilaiset is the other supporter-group of HJK, they are more casual-style. Forza HJK has got about 200 members. FC Honka also have a pretty good group of fans called Hongankolistajat.
Here are links to some videos about finnish supporter-scene.

Yes we are going forwards with the fan culture and some day football will be much bigger than ice hockey in Finland.
swe_burberry - June 10, 2007 10:58 AM (GMT)
You know, all the Finnish people in my hood is talking a lot of football, and play very good. But still, Finland looks like more of a Hockey country then a Football country.
But:
I was in a pub and watched the Olympic final in 2006, Sweden - Finland, and there was about 50 Finnish people. But when i watched a football game betwen sweden and finland, it was about 100 finnish people on the same pub. I guess the Swe-Finnish is more intresting in football then the real finnish.

Most groups are "fan clubs".
http://www.sinikaarti.net/ (Sinikaarti, Tampere United)
http://www.stadinkingit.com/ (Stadin Kingit, HIFK)
http://www.sissiryhma.com/ (Raitapaidat/Sissiryhmä, TPS)
http://forzahjk.net/Kuvat.htm (Forza HJK, HJK)
http://www.geezershietalahti.com/ (Geezers Hietalahti, VPS)
There a few ultras or "firms"
HJKs Sakilaiset is maybe biggest casual group. FC Lahti have some casuals as well. There are usually little fights when these two teams encounter. In the past 116% Boys
http://web.archive.org/web/20040526111258/...kuustoista.net/ where notorious group as well. But FC Jokerit which they support went into liquidation over 5 years ago.
Grabbarna 09 (HIFK) ja TPS Young Boys are said to be ultras.
In ice hockey there are two ultra groups, Ultras Jokerit
http://www.ultrasjokerit.com/main/?m=&a=&t= and Ultras 06

I can honestly say that nowadays Finland has the best national team supporters in Scandinavia. Correct me if I'm wrong, but in Norway, Denmark or Sweden you can't see that good organized support than in Finland.

Why finnish fans here dont post pics and info after match weekend? I`m really interesting in finland scene. :cheers :correct
PS - HIFK now playing in 3rd division(Kakkonen), they playing in this group because they dont have team to attack 2nd division or they are banned and they cant play in upper league?? I know that they was banned 1970/72 but is this bann still active?
Pff, sorry for my english. ;)
And one more thing, why HIFK always playing on diferent stadium? There is so many stadiums in Helsinki but they dont have club stadium as i know?
HJK and Lahti are rivals as i know, but what is the relationship between HJK and HIFK ?
Greets lads! :cheers

Well. HIFK is one the biggest team in this country. But their football section dropped 1972 from Premier Division. Quickly they went into Fourth Division and between 1975-2006 hardly anyone notice that HIFK play football. But they have great history. They have win Finnish Premier league seven times, last victory was 1961.
In ice hockey HIFK is as well one of the biggest. They have played in Finnish icehockey league since 70s and people usually think that HIFK is icehockey team.
When fanscene started to rise in Finland in the end of 90s, IFK Supporters started to follow their football team also. 2005 IFK promoted from Fourth division and 2007 from Third division. Now they are in second division but it is still long way till Premier league.
There are many stadiums but municipality owns them. Teams, especially in lower divisions could`t really choose where they play.
There wasn`t really rivalry between HJK and HIFK since 1972. HJK was football club and HIFK ice hockey club (even they played football in the lower divisions). Many people support HJK and HIFK. Old people of HJK and HIFK don`t really seems each other as rivalries. But young supporters, especially casuals hate each other. There have been couple of riots between HJK and HIFK in the last years. One fight noticed in the press

Welcome! If you will come to Helsinki, go to HJK`s home match. Supporters and lads of HJK are in south stand.
I forget say that HIFK is finnish-swedish team (there is little swedish minority in Finland). HJK is full finnish team.
League Cup start in January. But we have for example tifos so few times that there aren`t anything to film.
DDFC-1919 - December 10, 2009 07:52 PM (GMT)
Of course i will come to some matches and i`m sure i will join some group after some time but for this moment i dont have favourite team.
At this moment i watch my life in Bulgaria i have one year more, its not little time and after this year i`ll be in Helsinki(90% sure,) for a long long time :beer

Respect for HIFK. Really great job. It's a good day for Finnish football when we get you guys back in Veikkausliiga. Proper derby for Helsinki.
Speaking of proper derbies, inter-TPS was quite a disappointment.
