As you can see here, in the older times the group Milano Nerazzurra was below the other groups but some years ago moved up with the rest. I preferred it when there was a group in the first tier as it made the Curva look even better!

History of Ultras Salerno, translated from ultrasalerno.it:

The phenomenon of tifo at Salerno began long ago in 1977, when groups of men who met at the Bar Nettuno and Bar Reale decided to make an organized tifo group. Panthers 1977 was born, made up of lots of youngsters and representing the first ultras nucleus in Salerno. In 1982, from the fusion of the Panthers with the groups Ultra, Warriors, Fedayn and Fighters the group Granata South Force is born. The GSF adopts the logo of a 5 pointed star in rememberance of the previous 5 groups.

With the GSF and in the old Vestuti stadium it is when the Sud's best times are lived, despite Salernitana's not so good results on the pitch. Historic derby's with Cavese and Nocerina are played while good friendships are built with Bari and Reggina. Salerno's tifo, especially after their promotion into B in 1990 is made up of lots of groups which all began around 25 years before. The club G.Plaitano (Giuseppe Plaitano was the first fan to die in a football stadium, hit by a missile) expands and becomes Ultras Plaitano, second group of the Curva Sud after GSF.

In 1990 the group 'Nuova Guardia' (New Guard) is born made from members from the area of Pastena, a part of Salerno that passionately supports the team. The Viking Guerrieri group, small but with a good Ultras style were the first group to have a website and were one of the leaders in the founding of the 'Viking Italy' ultras group.

The year in which Salernitana went to Serie A was meant to be one of the curva's best yet but the Sud will remember it for other reasons: lots of arrests for the directors of the curva (especially GSF) and the train carrying the ultras to Piacenza which burned and killed 4 ultras.

Nowadays the active groups in the Sud are: Nuova Guardia (which now leads the Curva), GSF and Fedelissimi, Old Clan (born from Ultras Plaitano), Igus, Viking Guerrieri and Ultras Vecchio Stampo.

History of Curva Sud Roma, from asromaultras.it:

Before of 1977 Curva Sud enclosed many different little fan-groups, all clever but divided. These were mostly formed by quarter people, and every group was singing its songs without a true coordination. On January 9th 1977 (Roma-Sampdoria 3-0), all these groups (Guerriglieri della Curva Sud, Pantere, Boys, Fossa dei Lupi), following the samples of the first ultras groups in Italy (between the first: Ultras Granata) decide to join together: Commando Ultrà Curva Sud is born.

Obviously the "old" Commando (which on the away games were used to bring the little stripe Ultrà Roma) was a REAL ultras group. On the stickers there was written: "With the heart in Sud, with the bars in nord" and you couldn't find Donald Duck or Cip & Ciop. And it's better to don't read the INSCRIPTIONS on the Roma's walls! The leader was Geppo, who took side when there was the need to take side. Since 1977 until 1987 C.U.C.S. teached how to suppor in Italy and in the world: at home, unite & continued supporting, all lined up if there were problems, no feeling with the A.S. Roma club. It was a different football, that's true. Pruzzo was running under the Sud after the score, that's true. Till 1985 there was no police when you go to the away games, that's true. By the way, there was good people and we were respected.

All crashed down in the 1987 summer, when Manfredonia comes. The Curva Sud, before he was bought, is compact to ask to the president Viola of not buy him, because he said several bad words against AS Roma fans and because he was condamned for having sold the matches of the SS Lazio team (in which he always played. Do you remember the 50 meters stripe "Viola, don't vomit on Manfredonia"? By the way, before of the acquisition, the Curva was compac on refusing him. But sadly Viola decides to buy him the same and the Curva Sud crash. Irrimediable, sadly.

C.U.C.S. share in two parts: the founders (or better, the most part of them), put a stripe with writtenG.A.M. (Anti-Manfredonia Group) that is, by the way, the "storic" Commando Ultrà Curva Sud, while the minor part, putting on the walls of the Olimpico Stadium the poster "The Commando has moved", found the "Vecchio CUCS".

The Vecchio CUCS believed that, as Manfredonia was now part of AS Roma, he couldn't be hissed. The most part of Curva Sud believed the same (and today Curva Sud hiss Del Vecchio, Roma player who scored 20 goals!!!!), in spite of what happened. The CUCS-GAM, instead, wanted mantein the beginning line ("Manfredonia hangman, we'll never love you") and with its stripes (as: "Manfredonia give us quotations" (of the bets, n.d.a.) continues the contestaion against Manfredonia during the pre-championship and during the most part of the championship. Worse troubles happen during Roma-Genoa on september 2nd 1987 Italian Cup at the Flaminio Stadium: when CUCS-GAM raise a stripe with written: "Unworthy, take off that T-shirt", there's a very violent brawl between hundreds of fans and two guys are stabbed too. Obviously from that moment on (and, in my opinion, this is the moment of the factory-football beginning: EVERYTHING IS POSSIBLE, because poeple let that everything can be possible) everything changes: all the groups go back to the originary positions: the Fedayn, which even if they have been always a bit isolated always took part to the activities (their '70s motto was great: "to destroy everything that is not yellowred !!!), don't partecipate anymore to the songs and support by their own, the Boys take out their old stripe again, the CUCS-GAM, to defend itself from the Vecchio CUCS who protest the paternity of the Commando Ultrà Curva Sud license its name and doesn't support when Manfredonia is playing, vindicating the choice for heart reasons.

The Vecchio CUCS, by itself, change its seats on the hystoric wall of the Curva Sud, beside the Monte Mario tribune and consider the CUCS-G.A.M. as gone out.
The CUCS-G.A.M. when the "dull" doesn't play, obviously, support the team normally. In the end, stop to protest when the "dull" excuse himself.
But the division is done and it doesn't matter that the "dull" stop playing due to cardiac problems . The most hard & radical party of the CUCS GAM, at the yell of "Rome & glory", separate, forming "Opposta Fazione", group that refuse every contact with the other groups, "guilty" of having betrayed the ultras ideal. The politic enter in the curva and the Curva Sud, from the left (in the '70s) goes toward the extreme right. Even if the supporting return to be unit again, the most part of the old ultras give up and take back disgusted. The most radical boys of the C.U.C.S. who don't recognize anymore in the group share in several groups forming on political ideas basis (and this is the reason why you can see lots of celtic crosses) or friendship basis. The situation has radically changed at the first home match of the 1999/2000 season. The CUCS has been replaced by AS Roma Ultras, formed by young guys and old people from CUCS. AS Roma Ultras lead Curva Sud for three years with good results, nice choreograpies & new songs but due to misunderstood with other Curva Sud groups they guit on 2002, March 1st. It seemed that their story was over but as nobody wanted to be the leader of the Curva Sud they joined again in the summer of the same year.

The history of Irriducibili, translated by me from irriducibili-inter.com:

The group Irriducibili was born in the 1988/1989 season hanging their banner on the railings and followed by a strong support of young men that loved (and still continue to love) Inter and therefore sing for them in strong voice. Around a year and a half after the group 'Skins' left the Curva Nord because of continuous arguments with other groups in the curva and with the constand repression of modern football. In this period of time the Viking group was situated to the left of the curva, replacing the area where the Skins were and where the Vikings were before came the Snakes coming down from the higher section of the 2nd tier in the Curva Nord.

Around 1992, our group became part of the Curva Nord and year after year we continue to grow in terms of colour, organisation and number of members but in 1997 the real improvement arrives after the fusion with the Zona Nera group. The group, Zona Nera has around 20 members and with a good experience of life in curva seeing as there leader had been in the Curva for 22 years and their youngest member had spent 10 years in the curva, therefore the Irriducibili had strenght and trust in the Curva now and in organisational sense we grow in an exemplary manner too. With the arrival of Zona Nera we adopted the logo of the Muttley and our numbers continue to grow (also away from home we are usually the most represented group), at home we are also important in the making of coreos. Our favourite drink is beer (alcohol in general) and the things we hate the msot are: Milan, Juve, Fiorentina, Roma, Napoli, Brescia, Bologna, well lets just say we hate everyone apart from Lazio, and then there are others who we don't hate or like. A loyal salute to blue and white Rome!!

In the 2002/2003 season we participated even more at away games, we made new flags, two sticks and material. In 2003 our away banner is changed, adding an Italian flag to the side but for some stadiums it is to big so in 2004 a newer, smaller one with Irr' 88 on it is made. We want to make sure that you know that 88 is for the year our group was made!!

And next year too, we will continue to work to stay the BEST.

Pescara Rangers' history

L'idea di creare un vero e proprio gruppo ultras organizzato a Pescara girava da tempo, e nel frattempo il Pescara lottava, per la prima volta nella storia, per la serie A, con conseguente entusiasmo a mille. E' il Novembre 1976 quando un gruppo di amici, circa una decina, che dal 1971 seguiva le partite con il Club Fedelissimi, il gruppo che sinora aveva guidato il tifo pescarese, ma che si riteneva non più al passo con i tempi, fonda il gruppo. L' età media non è elevata, circa 17/18 anni, ma l'entusiasmo e la volontà non mancano. E così una volta deciso il distacco dai fedelissimi, sulla falsa riga di quanto sta avvenendo presso altre tifoserie italiane, chiediamo un primo aiuto e supporto ad Angelo Manzo, il maggior esponente della tifoseria pescarese, che già guida il riuscitissimo Club Excelsior, nato da poco tempo anch'esso. Peraltro un po' tutti noi frequentiamo l'Excelsior durante la settimana, essendo il ritrovo più "caldo" del tifo in centro, e quindi siamo già conosciuti nell'ambiente. Ciò facilita non poco la nostra iniziativa, che infatti viene accolta con entusiasmo da Angelo Manzo e i suoi più stretti collaboratori, tant' è che immediatamente il Club assume la denominazione di Club Excelsior - Pescara Rangers, scelta dallo stesso Angelo Manzo, ove il club Excelsior stava per la sezione "adulti" e il Pescara Rangers per la sezione "giovani" di un'unica grande realtà quale poi si confermerà essere per tutto il campionato 1976/77 e i successivi. Un'organizzazione assolutamente esemplare, grazie all'appoggio di persone serie ed appassionate come lo stesso Angelo Manzo in primis, oltre al presidente di allora della Pescara Calcio, Gianni Capacchietti. E grazie anche al nostro immenso ed inesauribile entusiasmo, oltre che una volontà senza pari, che nel giro di un solo anno ci ha portato ad essere il gruppo ultras più ammirato, invidiato e tra i più temuti d'Italia, bruciando letteralmente le tappe. All'inizio la denominazione di Rangers non ci convinceva molto; in tutta Italia non esisteva alcun altro gruppo con tale nome e quindi ci sembrava non appropriato ad un gruppo Ultras. Infatti i nostri tentativi di cambiare denominazione furono numerosi, ma fortunatamente furono tutti ostacolati e pazientemente annullati da Angelo Manzo, al quale, tra gli altri, va il grandissimo merito di aver letteralmente inventato questa denominazione per il tifo italiano, con molta lungimiranza. A conferma di ciò non passa molto tempo che altre tifoserie cominciano a copiare il nome Rangers, a Pisa, Empoli, e Genova in primis, ma la nostra originalità è sempre stata e sempre rimasta nel tempo immutata, soprattutto nella particolarità di avere il nome della città davanti: PESCARA RANGERS, e non Rangers Pescara. Una vera unicità, senza tempo.

Nati ufficialmente nel Novembre 1976, siamo rimasti per varie partite casalinghe nel settore dei distinti dello stadio adriatico, in affiancamento ai vecchi Fedelissimi. Ma la divergenza d'ideale, nell'intendere il tifo, con essi si fece sempre più ampia, sino a sfociare nella decisione di cambiare settore, allo scopo di renderci più riconoscibili e, allo stesso tempo, verificare come avrebbe risposto il pubblico pescarese alle nostre sollecitazioni innovative. IL suggerimento di Angelo Manzo, pienamente d'accordo con noi, fu quello di trasferirci in tribuna, anello superiore, per così spargere il tifo in tutto lo stadio, visto che nei distinti c'erano i fedelissimi, e le curve erano già calorose di per sé. E' il Marzo 1977, partita Pescara-Como, quando i Rangers si presentano ufficialmente ed in maniera del tutto autonoma, come traino del tifo Pescarese, insieme al neonato gruppo "Ultras". I risultati furono molto migliori di quel che speravamo e, partiti con un gruppo che, in totale, raggiungeva si e no le 150 unità, arrivammo a fine campionato e ai successivi memorabili spareggi di Terni e Bologna, con il gruppo composto da circa 1000 unità, riuscendo pienamente nell'intento di dare una svolta la tifo Pescarese, che ora si identificava unicamente con noi. Dopo la promozione in serie A, lo Stadio Adriatico fu ampliato iniziando dalla Curva Sud, e fummo costretti momentaneamente in Curva Sud per tutto il campionato di serie A 1977/78, mentre i Fedelissimi rimasero dapprima nei Distinti, e poi in Curva Nord, a lavori terminati. La svolta e l'assetto definitivo avvenne l'anno successivo. Con lo stadio ormai terminato, la Curva Nord tornò definitivamente ad essere il tempio del tifo Pescarese, come già nelle intenzioni di qualche anno prima, presidiata dal PESCARA RANGERS e dai vecchi Fedelissimi che avevano appena cambiato denominazione in Ultras, mentre i vecchi Ultras si erano definitivamente uniti a noi, sotto un unico nome e striscione. L'obbiettivo che ci eravamo prefissi due anni prima è centrato in pieno. Tanto più che il Pescara vince di nuovo il campionato di Serie B. Per la squadra allenata da Angelillo (e per tutta Pescara) c'è la riconquista della serie A dopo lo spareggio contro il Monza a Bologna. E' un anno importante perchè vede il consolidarsi della Curva Nord, questi sono anni in cui la tifoseria pescarese incominciava a farsi conoscere in tutt'Italia per i suoi esodi massicci al seguito dei propri beniamini....Nello spareggio, si mobilità l'intera città: 40000 i pescaresi presenti a Bologna, e questa viene ricordata come una delle più massicce trasferte della storia. Grazie anche al successo di serie A, all'entusiasmo, all'esperienza acquisita nel frattempo, diveniamo una curva che fino a qualche anno prima potevamo solamente sognare ed invidiare ad altre città. Ora avviene, invece, l'esatto opposto: persino i capi della tifoseria romanista, amici di alcuni di noi, vengono spesso a spiarci nell'attività infrasettimanale e a chiederci il progetto per il nuovo striscione dei CUCS, sul modello di quello nostro, altra assoluta novità in quanto a grafia.

Con la retrocessione in B del 1980, ed il mancato immediato ritorno in Serie A, inizia il calo della curva, dovuto a numerosi abbandoni. La delusione è indicile. Siamo ridotti a quasi la metà, si sopravvive, insomma; ma quando arriva addirittura la retrocessione in serie C del 1982, con l'umiliazione di 12 sconfitte consecutive, è la fine. Si è toccato il fondo . Tutti i gruppi, ad eccezione dei RANGERS si sono sciolti. Rimane lo zoccolo duro della tifoseria che si raggruppa sotto lo striscione dei PESCARA RANGERS. L'esiguo numero dei componenti fece si che regnasse armonia ed omogeneità nella Curva. Solitamente il gruppo era composto di circa 300 unità nelle partite casalinghe, ma si riusciva quasi sempre a trovare 60/70 persone per le trasferte. Si possono ricordare le trasferte di Terni, Livorno, Ancona, Nocera, Benevento e Caserta dove abbiamo riconquistato la Serie B. In realtà in molti hanno abbandonato lo stadio per la grande delusione, ma non i RANGERS. Prova ne è che non appena il Pescara riprende quota, tornando in serie B in Curva Nord, i RANGERS, peraltro mai assenti del tutto nemmeno in serie C, tornano ad essere un buon gruppo, perlomeno accettabile, guidati dalle seconde linee visto che il gruppo capo originario ha abbandonato del tutto. Durante il campionato 1983/84 l'entusiasmo si riaccende in seguito alla promozione in Serie B . Contribuì ad incentivare il ricrearsi dell'entusiasmo anche l'imprenditore Gino Pilota che in vista del suo ingresso in società cercò di accattivarsi le simpatie degli Ultra, contribuendo economicamente all'organizzazione delle trasferte, di alcune coreografie e all'acquisto del nuovo striscione. Il numero dei tesserati in questo campionato arriva quasi a quota 500. E' una fase di transizione, che dura qualche anno ed ha lo scopo di mantenere in vita la curva come meglio si può, compito caricato sulle spalle dei soli PESCARA RANGERS, poiché gli Ultras si sono sciolti definitivamente ed alcuni dei loro capi si sono uniti ai RANGERS stessi. Nonostante il periodo grigio, si riesce ugualmente a lanciare in campo nazionale un'innovazione che poi sarà puntualmente copiata da molte tifoserie, a testimonianza del successo della stessa. Si tratta dello striscione nero con la scritta bianco-celeste-blu, striscione che oggi con i colori di ciascuna società si può trovare in quasi tutti gli stadi d'Italia. Nel Campionato 1984/85 il Pescara offre un calcio spettacolare che riavvicina la gente allo stadio.. E' incredibile come gran parte dei tifosi biancazzurri preferisca lo spettacolo ai risultati eclatanti, così i tifosi tornano allo stadio grazie al gioco espresso dalla squadra allenata da Catuzzi. Il Pescara termina il campionato cadetto al settimo posto, avendo divertito e avendo riavvicinato la gente allo stadio.

L'anno successivo, 1985/86, vede Catuzzi alla guida del Pescara, risultati altalenanti e inattesa retrocessione dopo un deludente campionato che spegne anche quelle ormai poche fiammelle di speranza. Per il presidente e l'allenatore sono dolori con la tifoseria, la retrocessione in C fa esplodere il malcontento dei pescaresi. L'anno incomincia subito alla grande: il Palermo non può iscriversi al campionato di serie B e il Pescara viene ripescato!!! E' il segnale preciso che la rinascita è alle porte ed infatti alla scadenza del decimo anniversario dei RANGERS arriva l'altrettanto indimenticabile Campionato 1986/87, il quale vede ricrearsi una Curva Nord semplicemente fantastica ed incredibilmente numerosa, grazie all'attività eccellente delle seconde linee. Sia del VECCHIO RANGERS, che del vecchio ULTRAS, mentre anche gli ultimissimi capi originari rimasti attivi lasciano il posto alla nuova generazione. Dopo la deludente stagione avutasi l'anno precedente e dopo alcuni anni di letargo sportivo si risveglia l'entusiasmo tra i tifosi e già alla prima di campionato, ci saranno oltre 10000 persone. I cori, i canti, la scene d'entusiasmo sono ancora vive nella mente di chi ha vissuto quelle giornate nelle trasferte di Vicenza, Parma, Bologna, Cesena e l'ultima ad Arezzo. Nel 1987/88 il pubblico è entusiasta del gioco, forse un po' meno dei risultati. Resta comunque attaccato alla squadra e soprattutto a Junior e Galeone; l'obiettivo per tutto il campionato è e resta la salvezza che viene raggiunta con successo. Nel 1988/89 Tifosi in delirio, formazione competitiva, Galeone a guidarla, la serie A. I risultati poi favoriscono l'entusiasmo: al "giro di boa" il Pescara si trova in zona uefa! Poi in 15 partite non riesce a vincerne nemmeno una!!! Conseguente retrocessione in B.Negli anni 1989/90 ricordiamo le pesanti contestazioni ai vari Castagner e Mazzone fino a quando non torno il "Gale" che centrò la seconda sua promozione (la quarta del Pescara) nell'anno 1991/92. Di conseguenza la Nord, ed i Rangers, tornarono nuovamente alla ribalta nazionale per presenze, assiduità e organizzazione. Il club in quegli anni toccò record forse mai più raggiungibili, (1500 tesserati); erano i tempi del Bar Montecarlo: da lì partivano in quel periodo le iniziative dei Rangers. Ma come tutti sappiano, purtroppo il futuro non fu tenero e si sa, quando le cose vanno male calcisticamente parlando, tutto ciò che gli gravita attorno ne risente terribilmente. Il Pescara quell'anno a metà del girone di andata era già retrocesso, con dietro tutti gli scandali delle maghe e delle intercettazioni telefoniche. A Galeone subentra Vincenzo Zucchini che sarà confermato per la stagione successiva 1993/94 insieme to di Eugenio Corelli. I Rangers in quel periodo, nonostante la retrocessione, e la penalizzazione di 3 punti, non si persero d'animo, riuscendo ad organizzare il tifo in curva nord e portare più tifosi possibili in trasferta. Ci furono pesanti contestazioni verso la dirigenza e dalla serie A del 1992 rischiamo di ritrovarci in C1 se non ci fosse stato il miracolo di Rumignani e la mitica trasferta a Cosenza.

In questi anni il ritrovo del gruppo era presso il bar Le Nazioni e con la stagione 1994/95 ci fu l'apertura di una propria sede in Via Puccini. Ed il 1994/95 fu un anno turbolento per i Rangers, con il Pescara sempre nei bassifondi della classifica e con l'arrivo di Franco Oddo che subentrerà a Rumignani, contestatissimo dall'intera piazza. Ci furono screzi nel direttivo di allora e, dopo alcune riunioni ed allontanamenti di alcune persone, si costituì il VECCHIO RANGERS, inteso come un ritorno alle origini, più che come un rinnovamento. Decisione che è emersa per la volontà di cambiare la concezione e la struttura del club, condannando la commercializzazione dei club che hanno portato al disunimento della tifoseria e all'abbandono delle generazioni più vecchie, con l'intento di formare un vero gruppo con un numero di aderenti limitato per sostenere la squadra e l'immagine della città. Ma dopo non molto tempo una mazzata si abbattè sul gruppo che venne più che dimezzato dalle numerose diffide di quell'anno. Da quel momento, per un anno, venne esposto lo striscione Rangers rovesciato per rispettarele numerose diffide subite, ed in trasferta si decise di non portare lo striscione. Con lo scadere delle diffide vengono ricomposte le fila e in quel periodo ci ritrovavamo al Bar Silvan (1995/96). Era il Pescara di Oddo, che da campione d'Inverno, si salvò alle ultime giornate. Da ricordare le trasferte di Reggio Emilia, Benevento e Parma (col Cesena). I Rangers tornano ad essere un gruppo compatto e si riadottò la classica denominazione Pescara Rangers. Nel 1996, l'anno del ventennale, furono molte le iniziative del gruppo. Si ebbero molti complimenti per il materiale realizzato (sciarpe, cappelli, libro) e in più ci fu l'evento della festa organizzata alla grande, e con la squadra del Pescara del 1976 al gran completo. L'età media del gruppo era di 25-26 anni, ma si riuscì a formare anche una nuova guardia grazie ad una ventina di ragazzi dai 15 ai 18 anni. Nel 1997 ci fù l'apertura della sede in Via Messina, ammirata da tutti: era un vero e proprio punto di incontro e di dibattito, dove il lavoro di tutti è servito per renderla accogliente ed efficiente. Sono gli anni del Pescara di Rossi e in seguito di Viscidi (1997/98). In quel periodo molti di noi hanno abbandonato il gruppo che venne tirato avanti dai ragazzi della nuovaguardia, appoggiati da 4-5 membri più adulti del direttivo. E' nell'ottobre del 1998 che ci fu una svolta. Dopo alcune riunioni tra tutti i gruppi della nord si decise di ritornare alle origini: Vennero sciolti tutti i gruppi, per ritornare sotto la guida della "madre", ovvero il Pescara Rangers. Ci volle tempo per assemblare e cementare le diverse mentalità, ma fu anche utile il buon momento del Pescara che mancò, quell'anno la promozione per un punto. Il resto è storia nota, con il ritorno di Galeone in riva all'Adriatico, ritorno non fortunato. Per il gruppo c'è da segnalare il cambio della sede ed un'organizzazione sempre in cerscendo, grazie all'entrata di esponenti della vecchia guardia che fungono da supervisori verso i più giovani. Quest' anno festeggiamo il venticinquennale: sarebbe importantissimo festeggiarlo con il Pescara ancora in serie B.

The Brigate Rossonere group was born from a fusion of the 'Cava del Demonio' and 'Ultras', two small groups in the Curva Sud.

The first outing of our group banner was on the 19th of October 1975 in a Bologna - Milan game. The Brigate Rossonere have always followed AC Milan in all the matches played at the San Siro, and in all their away games.

I have a little question about the Zona Nera Group. I know an Italian ultra who told me some years ago about this group. Now I read this in your text:

My question is. Why did the Zona Nera gave up their group to join another one?

I think for the same reason as Skins did, pressure from other people...
