Title: Ultras in Slovakia
Description: About Slovakian Ultras groups

ultras24 - April 14, 2006 07:52 PM (GMT)
So if you want to know something about our scene, you can ask me .

The stronger ultras group is probably RBW (Red Black Warriors) , which are fans of Spartak Trnava (you probably know this team). Maybe second ( some ultras newspapers from czech republic give us on the first place in Slovakia with Spartak Trnava ) are we, Red White Angeles, ultras group of Dukla Banska Bystrica . Our page is www.rwa.ultras.sk . The very strong position has Slovan Bratislava, (www.ultrasslovan.sk) too. It s the most popular team from Slovakia of history . They have the most powerful hooligans in our country, but they are top of ultras, too ( RBW, RWA Slovan and Buldogs Nitra - fans and hooligans of FC Nitra www.ultrasnitra.sk) .

Rieco - April 20, 2006 05:17 PM (GMT)
Now, I too could tell you something about our home, ultras scene.

Perhaps even write a few description of each group, and a little from their history. If there would be any interest, ofcourse...

Tom - April 20, 2006 05:31 PM (GMT)
Of course I'm interested..
Tell me all about the Slovakian scène.
I also see tifo at the National Team, maybe you two can give some info :D

Miki - April 20, 2006 06:53 PM (GMT)
I would also be interested in "important matches". I live in Vienna, not far from Slovakia ;) , so I want to know where I can see nice coreos, good support and maybe also some riots.

Rieco - April 22, 2006 01:59 PM (GMT)
Ok I'll try to tell you what I know and what my friends from other clubs tell me.

Oh and let me set something straight, in no way are the Red White Angels the second biggest group in Slovakia... But first I should tell you something about our scene in general.

Now our football has been in a crisis the past few years. Lack of money, corrupiton, no will from the clubs to do anything, has led to a decline in both the quality of our league and with it naturaly the attendances. The last three or four years deminshed support in many clubs. But this year alot seems to be turning. Next year our league will expand from ten clubs to twelve, which should bring atleast increased fan interest.
The slovak fan is a stupid one as I say. Many people have no feeling of loyatly or maybee they just dont care. Another factor why ultras quite small in numbers is thanks to the media who tend to portrait us as vandals and troublemakers, with no interest in football, but our only aim is to destroy... Whatever the main factor is, the fact stays that attendances have dvindled.

The main groups in Slovakia come from Spartak Trnava and Slovan Bratislava, which are historicaly, the greatest clubs and the most supported ones. Slovan faced bancrupcy two years ago, which caused us to drop from the first division and spend some time int he second. Naturaly, fan support took a heavy loss. But this season is a definate way back to the top league and with that theFans and Ultras numbers grew.
Spartak on the other hand is enyoing a lucky season, fighting for the tittle. And thaks to that their numbers are as high as ever. This year they have defiantely been dominant thanks to their large numbers, but last season when they were stuck in mid table their attendances were roughly average....

After Slovan and Spartak, come a few other groups. A popular one was the far-right, fasist group from Kosice, Rebels, which almost ceesed to exist, since their Club went bankrupt and was relegateed to the thrid division. This year they too are headed for promotion into the top division and their support grows once more. Still they lack the quality of Slovan and Spartak.

A fine group are Banska Bystrica's Red White Angels, which can produce a very good standart of choreography, but lack the numbers of other groups...

that is about all in general, I will try to give you overviews of the specific groups...

ultras24 - April 23, 2006 12:40 PM (GMT)
rieco , my friend, do you think that we don t belong to TOP 3 ultras here ? :aight you described it as we are only one from many and the best are only spartak and slovan. it is not true. yes, you have great and the longest history, but it dont means that you are best at the moment. second league is your place, there you are the best, but in 1. league are only Spartak, RWA and Buldogs. When you win second division and you ll play with clubs as Dukla, Kosice, Nitra, then it will be possible to compare us for you . RWA RULEZ. that s all

Rieco - April 26, 2006 04:18 PM (GMT)
So as I promised I'll try to write something about our scene. As I said, it's far from decent. It's mostly quite poor, even when compared to neigbhoring countires or countires of similiar size... But things can hopefully only get better.
As I've said, it's mostly thanks to the image the scene has..... It's very dissapointing for me :(

So let's see what we have to offer.

I'll start with the lesser groups...

Club: MSK Zilina
Groups: YGF, Hooligans Goral, North Brigade

First to the Hools group. They'r actualy Polish, only a couple of them are actualy from Zilina. But the Poles tend to come do Zilina, or to a bigger away match, only to get beat usualy. They'r quite know as poor fighters....

YGF - or Yellow Green Fanatics.
They are Zilinas Ultras. They're numbers are around 150 and up. I've never seen anythign that spectacular from them.

I'll try to put more photo's in the actual galeries.

Club: Artmedia Petrzalka (or Bratislava as most of you know them)
Groups: Ultras Engerau

Now, one would expect that such a succesfull club would have a nice fan and Ultras base. Well, things can be different that they seem. Petrzalka is a 108 year old club, currently on top of the league. And yes they do have a Ultras group. If you can call them that.

One thing that it is hard for any club to have fans in Bratislava, since people have stopped to care about football in the past 5-6 years, and thjose who care are mostlz fans of Slovan:)

Ultras Engerau also suffers from bad communication with the board of directors of Artmedia, since the board is a bunch of a-holes who care very little about football and fans. The group could have been better if it had any way to present it self, last season when they were league champions. But since there is no money for flares, choreo ect. the group stay where it is. Nowhere.

At home games they'r numbers can fill the small home sector which is up to 200 fans. Not much and the number of actual Ultras is much smaller. We'll see hwne they'll wake up.

Club: Trencin
Groups: TBC - Trencin Beer Crew

Trencin Beer Crew are the only SHARP ultras groups in Slovakia...
They'r numbers at home games are around 100 at the max,

More and naturaly better groups to come, so stay tuned :)

Rieco - April 28, 2006 04:04 PM (GMT)
So let's continue the stroll throug Slovak groups...

Club: MFK Kosice (Formelny 1.FC Kosice)
Groups: Psychoboys, Rebels, Tigers

Kosice were a big club in the 90's, the first Slovak club to play in Champions League. Their support was quite large, but since they'r boss was tied to some mafialike dealings the club later went bannkrupt and the ultras with them. Right now they are in a state of reforming once more.

Psychoboys & Rebels
Are from the older era, they were the Ultras group while, the Rebels still are a active hools group. The "oldschool" Psychoboys are returing once again as Kosice near promotion.

Mentality: Far right, hardcore fasist. You could find anything from the SS Totenkopf to Celtic crosses and even swasticas. For me they are porbably the most hated group in all of slovakia

Friendships: FC Nitra and Sparta Prague

Tigers

Are a group that existed in the past, but now has mostly taken over the ultras scene. They edge somewhere between a Fan Club and an Ultras group...

Club: FC Nitra
Groups: Bulldogs, Trogari, Nitra Hooligans

Nitra are a city with a football tradition, allthough they may lack the numbers of Slovan or Trnava, they still can put on a decent show, when they want to. Numbers can reach pretty high, atleast for normal Slovak standards, couples of hunderds.
The mentality is rightwing, with a definate slant towards fasism, atleast from a number of fans.
There is a friendsihip with Kosice and Sparta Prague

Club: Dukla Banska Bystrica
Groups: Red White Angels, Neu Sohl

I probably shoudl ask my friend, Ultras 24, to write something better.... But as for me Red White Angels are one of my favourite groups. Not only cause of friends, but since they can put on a very good choreography.
They are practicaly apolitical, no ideology one way or the other., just football.
IMO, the thirds best ultras in Slovakia...

More, still to come

Rieco - May 3, 2006 07:21 PM (GMT)
Let me finish the walkthrough of Slovak Ultras with the top two groups.

First

Spartak Trnava
Groups: Red Black Warriors, Northside Patriots, Southside Patriots, Division Spartak, Asocialni Chuligani (Asocial Hooligans)
Friendships: Banik Ostrava

Right now they feel as on the top of the world. Spartak have always had a big crowd suport and are the second most succesfull Slovak club, CL Semifinals in 69. Their mentality is apolitical, but they like to fight especialy with Slovan and Nitra...
This year they have been good, their quality comes mostly from numbers, since their Tifo is almost the same each time. Either it's Something like : A.C.A.B or Stupid Police, or Spartak Trnava, or the third variant Spartak Trnava + Banik Ostrava. They can put on a good pyro when they want and they are heard everywhere... See for your self.

Slovan Bratislava
Groups: Ultras Slovan Pressburg, Brickfield Casuals, Slovan Hooligans
Frienships: Brno(Czech), Klatovy (Poland)

Historicaly the biggest club in Slovakia and probably with the biggest number of fans. Things went downhill after relagation and near bankruptcy as the old ultras almost dissbanded. Now they are gaining in numbers once again and there are things to look out for as we head to the first division.
Best Hooligans in Slovakia, by far, and we can also create som good pyro effects, but nothings special when compared to other countries. Choreography is not too great since it seems that there isn't enough creativity...

Mentality is right, to far right.

Sobi27 - February 9, 2007 08:05 PM (GMT)
MFK Kosice (ex-1.FC Kosice)

So there are two ultras groups and one hooligans group.
Ultras ´n´ hools in Kosice have rightwing mentality but they´re not all the fascists. In the past were on the stadium some fascist flags (celtic cross...) but now not.
Our friendships are in Nitra (also Slovakia) and Sparta Prague (Czech Rep.).
In the past were Kosice´s ultras scene one of the best in Slovakia (1996-2002) but 1.FC Kosice went bankrupt and ultras with him. Now the new club were quite good supporters, one of the five best in the country.

Ultras groups:
Ultras Kosice - number of these fans are 50-100, there are young supporters (in the age of 15-23), they´re going on football and basketball.
VIVA Kosice - number of these fans are 10-40, they´re so old fans (in the age of 25-35), they´re going only on football.

Hooligans group:
Rebels VSS - number of them are 20-60, in the age of 17-30, they´re going on football.

rumsterdam - January 13, 2008 11:47 PM (GMT)
Im Partizan Belgrade fan. Some 10 years ago (maybe less) we were in Kosice, to follow our handball club. We had a good fight with some skins in front of their gate.
Few things that i remember(all we were too drunk) are that we broke them and all glasses on their gate. They had blue-yellow banner REBELS, which was not in colors of their handball club (or im mistaken).
Is there is some of Kosice fans to explain me, how they saw that fight (from their side)? If is possible to be friendly explanation.
Thanks
