So what is the latest news. I guess a lot of the dead were killed by the forces of order opening fire with guns.
1312-FRFC - February 1, 2012 08:15 PM (GMT)
CNN is on my TV at the moment, some good images their of the disgusting riots.
Semper Fidelis - February 1, 2012 08:22 PM (GMT)
so any info wtf happened there!?!?
sad... :(
CuntenGothenburg - February 1, 2012 08:26 PM (GMT)
Is it true that most dead are security officers or are they mostly fans dead?

Really strange how this ended so bad. Seems like police dont even care about whats going on. You can see a big riot squad standing at the running track close to away section, but they do nothing.
Can it have something to do with this revolution, which supporters of Al-Ahly, who got attacked, have played an important role in?
ex-AG 98 - February 1, 2012 08:29 PM (GMT)
security forces dressed as fans? it's sure to be political, fuck all to do with football.

Like you say, maybe possible that security did not offer "full protection" to Al Ahly supporters due to their part in revolution. Many reports that Masry fans taking knives into stadium too.
eurokremce - February 1, 2012 08:33 PM (GMT)
one of the players "the game shouldnt be played, the govermant dont care about people lifes, they only care about money. the security didnt protected us, one of the fans died in locker room next to me"

most the victims reportedly died from suffocation or head injuries.

something very suspicious about all this :si
Brann - February 1, 2012 08:47 PM (GMT)
Riot in Kairo as well between Zamalek - Ismaily.
When they heard about what happend in Port Said, fans of Zamalek started fire in their national stadium. This match is now suspended.
Semper Fidelis - February 1, 2012 08:48 PM (GMT)
"A security official said fans of the winning side rushed the field, chased the losing squad's players and cornered their supporters, throwing stones and bottles at them. Most the victims reportedly died from suffocation or head injuries."
hmm 70 killed by throwing stones and bottles!?!? come on...

exactly, it's bullshit.
either the police/army have killed a lot of people or a lot of people have died in a heysels style crush but I suspect the first option is most likely.

Looks like that.
Locking Alhy fans in, police refusing to allow emergency services onto the scene.
Never convince me that this wasn't politically organised/set up.
kronstadt - February 1, 2012 09:17 PM (GMT)
some people say that al ahly fans are students and socialists who were very active during the revolution. in videos we can see that police are doing nothing when al masry fans attack al ahly fans. sure there is a political context.
aty - February 1, 2012 09:18 PM (GMT)
Probably a set up by the state against the Al-Ahly ultras that played a crucial role in the revolution.
DannyBhoyAntifa - February 1, 2012 09:36 PM (GMT)
A member of parliament for Port Said, Albadry Farghali, blamed security forces which "did this or allowed it to happen".
"The men of Mubarak are still ruling. The head of the regime has fallen but all his men are still in their positions," he said on television.
"Where is the security? Where is the government?"
In Cairo, another match was halted by the referee after news of the Port Said violence. It prompted fans to set parts of the stadium on fire.

It is not hard for security agents to infiltrate/manipulate big disorder.

Thats a very plausible theory, your probably right to an extent.
But so many undercover cops? It sure seems like its planned when the cops on the field dont do anything to stop them from invading the pitch.
Im just surprise at the extreme amount of corruption & how little they care about human life.

you don't need many.just one is enough to tell some lie and we all know how lies can spread.
maybe these port said fans are mubarak supporters and with the help of the police, was easy to attack al haly supporters
Red_Dog - February 1, 2012 11:13 PM (GMT)
It's clear that this is not the end of it.
Al Ahly has a massive amount of fans all over the country, the next time these two meet will be interesting (although I already expect retaliation in the coming days).
Sickening stuff.
BBBulldog - February 1, 2012 11:15 PM (GMT)
this stinks of acab setup all over.
but of course every article in media is about ultras riots. repeat it enough and it just becomes 2 groups of fans smackin each other and somehow 73 people died.
M.AbdelKader - February 1, 2012 11:21 PM (GMT)
Most of deaths were because of suffocation while running, most of the rest was due to getting attacked with knives and so, Police kept watching and did nothing while our mates were dying there, it's believed that there are political reasons due to Ultras Ahlawy's members activity's during the Egyptian Revolution and after it and their brave actions against the cops during clashes, also because last match their intro was "أهلاوى ثورجى" which means " Revolutionary Ahlawy ", Field Marshall Tantawi the head of the supreme council of armed forces met the players when they reached cairo and when they asked him if the mayor of Portsaid or the people responsible about security there will be punished he said that "That isn't in our plans right now"
May Our Friends souls rest in peace, pray for them !

Yes, many news media are already leading this story with just pictures of small, normal ultras actions. Some pyro, smokes etc, instead of focusing on actions of acab and security.
italyclown - February 1, 2012 11:25 PM (GMT)
easy and clear to understand.
ex regime attack rebels with the help of stewards/police
a program riot to kill and arrest "rebels" of the revolts
a revenge of the system, a tactic of the intelligence with invisible murders.
in last times, army and police monitored and repressed every egypt ultras groups.
waiting trustn1 for report.
