The second leg of the 2014 FIFA World Cup second round qualifier between Myanmar and Oman was abandoned shortly before half-time due to crowd trouble.
Myanmar fans began throwing rocks and bottles in protest at referee Ryuji Sato's awarding of a 39th minute penalty, which was successfully converted by Ismail Al Ajmi.
The crowd ignored Myanmar Football Federation President Zaw Zaw's appeal for calm prompting the abandonment of the match with Oman winning 2-0 on the night and 4-0 on aggregate.
Oman went into the match at the Thuwunna Youth Training Centre with a healthy lead from the first-leg courtesy of strikes from Amad Ali Al Hosni and Al Ajmi and the duo were again on target in the first-half of the second leg.
Al Hosni, who had a stint in Europe with Belgian club Charleroi, opened the scoring in the 22nd minute before Kuwait Sports Club striker Al Ajmi converted the disputed penalty.
According to FIFA sources the match will not be replayed and Oman will advance to the third round of qualifiers.

Numbers? 25-30.
Crowd? Pretty small. Maybe 500?
Security? Kosta.

MCF complain about those Y-side banners to club/security who then forced them down? Bit wank if true, but happy to hear a response
IhateHumans - August 14, 2011 05:30 AM (GMT)
Seems like that doesn't it.
President came to abuse us for calls of "nigger" and that the game will be called off if continues, one bloke nothing to do with MCF and even admitted not having been to a game for 10 tean years said to the president about the communist banners. Pretty comical.
We would never ever tell anyone to take opposition banners off even plastics like our visitors yesterday.
Kinda hurts that accusation Anon.
But I understand how it would have seen, and also our president is a shocker when it comes to people skills.

poor effort by yarra side
close to how many of us came from sydney for a friendly
IhateHumans - August 14, 2011 09:53 AM (GMT)
There was about 40 of them in that group, from my understanding that's probably their core at any games, a league included. What I don't understand is why they took their banners off, and why they packed up before the final whistle.
They were loud at times, but so is anyone in a group over 5 blokes in that stand. Their chants sounded original but couldn't understand them.
Off topic, was there any VPL games played on saturday? I distinctly remember few years back that there was some kinda rule that if an A league club plays there can be no games in the metroplitan area that day.

Bit hard to expect to them to come out when its played at 3pm whilst half of Victoria is playing their own game. Looks like there was more of them than MCF tbh.
Never heard of that rule IHH, sounds BS to be fair.
That YSIDE Fila style banner looks pretty mad.
IhateHumans - August 14, 2011 10:28 AM (GMT)
Did you expect there to be 50 MCF? We hardly get 20, so 25 is ok.
Really until Victory comes the communists have by far been the most vocal away fans for the last 5 years if not more. Also their numbers were better then prestons in their good days. I'm talking about an actual organised group.

Idk, just thought MCF would pull a bigger number v Hearts, you had a decent turnout in shit weather for the Croat Derby.
why are they communists? I thought they were Antifa/pro-palestine/Bob Marley, etc
IhateHumans - August 14, 2011 11:45 AM (GMT)
I'm pro-palestine and I don't mind Marley but I'm certainly not commi. Who knows what internet site they got their ideas from or what books. We might aswell put gestapo banners up lol
As a appropriate on the terrace as someone with a Muslim brotherhood/jihad mentality :)

What I ment to say is why are you calling them communists? But I saw what it was about when i read above, and the other thread.
Probably just a misunderstanding, I think they were trying to be smart about it. if they are a youth group like U12 says they probably dont know any better.
Kinda like those guys who walk around with che guevara tshirts just because the 'look cool'.
