 They're idiots!

The Palentine - December 21, 2009 08:59 PM (GMT)
The show is facinating.....in a kinda awful train wreck fashion.

I love the way Snookie thought Gadafi was Lionel Ritchie

Bahgum - December 22, 2009 01:03 PM (GMT)
It does explain where Lionel Ritchie went during the 90s....

Their show is brilliantly illustrated by a Futurama gag line: "You've watched it, you can't un-watch it!"

As a New Jersey resident, I feel as though it's important to clarify that the morons on the MTV show Jersey Shore are from North Jersey and not my particular state of South Jersey.

Kenny - January 12, 2010 12:28 AM (GMT)
They're New Yorkers, actually; Jersey Shore's just where their vacation house is. Though the snobbery coming from a New Jerseyite (of all people) is rather amusing. :P

Philimbesi - January 12, 2010 01:18 PM (GMT)
North Jersey is basically NY Lite. I'm a Philly guy.

Don't fret old bean, I've been saying for years that the goobers in my state(south of the Mason and Dixon line) are not a fair representation of West Virginians from the Northern Panhandle. :P

Last week "the Situation" had a Lurker spot on ESPN's SportsNation.

Today,I saw the front page of one of those Celeb Mags(People, Us, ect). It had the inside scoop on the scandals and other stuff going of with the show, and implied there is a Sex Tape now floating around. Color me Shocked! Say it ain't so. :P

 No, this isn't a parody; it's the real thing, and it's currently airing on MTV-UK (which thankfully I do not get on Cox Cable).

I know!   I've seen trailers for that here, it looks so messed up, I love how one of the women says "I'll be on it, like a car bonnet" that's "hood" for our American cousins...

It's like a godzillian times more tacky and embarrassing than the original by the looks.

Having been out in Newcastle on a Friday night, I can promise you that it looks like relatively typical Geordie behaviour to me.

And no, I won't be watching the actual program to give you a proper assessment. I'd rather tip bleach over my face.

But what it does do is that prove regardless of race, nationality etc etc, there is inevitably going to be a proportion of cocks within that demographic.

And now that MTV is done with Jersey, they've elected to give Appalachia a try:

They're gonna be sending camera crews to your backyard, Palentine...are you fixin' to round up a posse to chase them out?

...By the by, us "suffisticated" West-Coasters pronounce it "appa-laysha", which isn't exactly authentic, but none of you on other side of the country seem to know how to pronounce "Nevada", so it's a fair trade. user posted image

When I first saw the photo, I judged them a bit for posing with inflatable dolls. Then I realised those were actual people...

Personally I've always found it annoying when people pronounce Oregon, Ore-gone.

To find out how to pronounce the names of mountain ranges and states of the Union, I obviously looked in

Amerika-boken.
[The America Book. Aide for emigrants. Valid and reliable information about the journey to America, the working and natural conditions in the different states etc. in addition to a Short guide to speaking the English language. With a map over the United States.]
by K. Zilliacus, Stockholm: Albert Bonniers Förlag, 1893.

but unfortunately I found its glossary/pronunciation guide rather lacking when it comes to geographical names. As a potential emigrant, surely I might need to be more specific than saying ämmerrikä or junaited stehts...

Governor Joe (now Senator Joe) pleads with MTV to think of the children...
