Yesterday, Myron Cope, the longtime voice of the Pittsburgh Steelers died. He was 79 years old. he was a prolific writer. At one time he and George Plimpton were the highest paid freelancers for Sports Illustrated.For over 30 years he was theannoucer for the Steelers. His voice was distinctive, but he always tried to keep the game fun. He created the Terrible Towel, the profits of which goes to Allegheney Valley Schools, a group home for mentally handicapped adults. His son Danny is a recident of the facillity(has very profound Autism).
