With draft day approaching, the Mounties would like to announce several moves they've made this offseason.

In a blockbuster deal with the Revs, the Mounties traded away youngester Patrice Bergeron, Ladislav Smid, Ryan Flynn and Pekka Rinne for Joe Thornton. This deal brings in a bonafied superstar in Thornton who is signed for 1 more year.

Next, the Mounties signed a trio of free agents. Bill Guerin and Darcy Tucker bring some stability to the wings while veteran defenseman Derian Hatcher, a career Rink Rat opted to take the change of scenery and signed with the Mounties. All players give us more depth and help round out the team.

With the arrival of Joe Thornton, Pavel Datsyuk packed his bags along with Patrick Eaves who are off to Tillsburg for young forward Milan Michalek.

Finally, in a minor, cap saving move, Bertuzzi has been traded to the Great Whites in exchange for Scott Mellanby. Both players have 1 year left in their contracts before they become unrestricted free agents.

The Mounties are looking for 1 or two more pieces to the puzzle and will then be ready for next season.
