The RP-ing Rules
01. Your Username Your username will only be the First and Last Name of your character. Unless your character goes by 'Betty Anne' or 'Sarah Jane', in which case, please indicate it in your application.
02. OOC Speak Sometimes, in your RP post, you may need to mention something OOC (Out Of Character). If so, enclose it in double parentheses ((OOC)) or brackets [OOC], and mark it with OOC: Example: ((OOC: quick question…do they know each other?)) or [OOC: Hey Sally! Long time no see!]
03. Grammar and spelling Please try to use your best grammar and spelling. (This includes using quotation marks when someone is speaking.) In addition, don't correct someone's grammar or spelling in character. Mods and admins will watch for it in an application. If it looks like to may be a problem, they'll know when they apply. Not everyone is great at spelling and grammar, so leave it alone.
04. Your First Official Post Once you have been accepted AS AN ORIGINAL CHARACTER, your first RP post should be in Headmistress Andre's Office to get your schedule. (OMG, EXCITING!) IF YOU ARE CANON, simply PM Erin (any character with 'OOC Mommy' in the member title) to get a form and your schedule. Once your schedule is set, you're good to RP anywhere.
05. Starting a new topic When you start, the Topic Title should be interesting and eye catching. Something like 'New Kid' is boring. But writing using a lyric like, [A Little More] T.O.U.C.H M.E., is really interesting. The Topic Description should read 'Open' if anyone can come in and RP with you. If the thread is for someone in particular—say you arranged it in PMs or in 'Role play Request'—then their name should be in the Description. Once you're done with the thread—Open or otherwise—you should make the Description 'CLOSED'. (Or, if you're done, PM a mod or admin and ask them NICELY to close it for you.) [Your second code is 'Daintily to tread your ground']
06. Application Edits If you realize you need to add something to your application after you've started playing, PM Erin and tell her what you need to change. She'll edit it for you, as applications are closed once they are accepted.
07. Posting When you RP, it should be in the THIRD PERSON (he/she not I/me) and PAST TENSE (ran as opposed to runs). It makes life easier that way. When they speak, however, its OK to write 'I.'
08. Text Make your color something easy to read. If you really want to use yellow, test it out first. If you can't really read it, don't use that color. Also, don't use all bold/italics/underlines. Use them for emphasis.
09. Threads You don't have to only have one RP going at a time. Go ahead and have several going. As long as you can keep track, no one is stopping you.
10. Speaking When your character is saying something aloud, please write it in quotes, with the words bolded. For example: "Hi, Jack, Sally said, kissing him. "How are you?" The code for that looks like: | CODE | | "Hi, Jack, Sally said, kissing him. "How are you?" |
Always subject to change without notice
