Title: A different kind of Doctor...
Description: ...for a different kind of plague.
The Doctor - March 2, 2007 10:46 PM (GMT)
A strange humming filled the streets... the sound of, well the sound of time as it so happened. The Tardis slowly began to materialize and when it was done it onlt took a few seconds for the door to creak open. The Dotor stepped out, slipping on his coat as he did so, it was damn cold, one of many criticisms he had about Britain, but cold had sparked the discovery of Earl Grey, a thing that one of his nine alter-egos would be perpetually thankful for.
Stepping out of the alleyway he rounded the corner to find the bustling street of the glourious city... empty, absolutely empty. "And its a saturday too." He said to himself, he was alone because he'd left Rose back in two-thousand six so he could have some quiet time. (Seeing as how this is set before Dommsday if I recall properly.) "That can't be right." He blinked just to make certain he wasn't seeing things. Strolling over to a news stand he found it empty as well, sifting through the papers he found a local one and read the headline...
MYSTERIOUS DISEASE LAYS EAST CARDIFF LOW!
"The Doctor is in," He said to himself, "Oh, The Doctor is in."
((Leaving the stage set for another character.))
Kasana - March 3, 2007 06:11 AM (GMT)
*Smash Bang Crash*
"Oww!"
A voice filled the empty streets, a cardboard box laid upside down near the newstand; "stupid bloody box" she mumbled, staggering out dizzily; "Hello" she said to The Doctor, not realising that it WAS The Doctor; still dizzy from landing upside down.
Rubbing her head, she pulled out a small probe like stick; staggering over to The Doctor, she prodded him with it. "Stupid Weevil man! Bloody Weevils are everywhere now" she mumbled, prodding him once more. A slight bruise on her left temple, "Am I in Cardiff? Cause this looks ruddy like glasgow...ders very odd people der you know!" she said drunkily; she had been drinking a few bottles of whiskey lately, mainly because she had been forced to kiss her work mate after he used a spray on her.
The Doctor - March 3, 2007 01:48 PM (GMT)
"Uh huh." The Doctor mummbled, observing the newcomer, "Yeah, I think you're a little confused." He sniffed the air, "No this isn't Glasgow and I am not a Weevil, the bloody cheek." This last part was kept entirely to himself. Looking back at the paper he read deeper into the article as the woman continued to babble on to herself.
The House Of Commons has failed to coment on the strange disease which has left Cardiff's eastern quarter virtually abandonned, symptoms of the disease include loss of equalibrium, followed by vommiting and development of monotonse vocal patterns as well as a cataclysmic drop in body temprature..
The Prime Minister was unavailable for coment but reliable sources inside one of the emercency infirmaries set up in and around the city inform us that sufferers of the disease seem to lose control over facial muscles, rendering them a grim mask of neutrality. Once this stage of the disease is reached the infected people no longer seem to function at all, falling into a state which is similar to the stillness of a coma, however the victim is not below a concious level of thought.
New information will be published as scientists speculate whether or not this has anything to do with the perculiar craft which appeared over London at Christmas, this however is deemed highly unlikely due to the distance between the cities.
Folding the paper neatly The Doctor slipped it inside his coat, "You don't know if there's a hospital around here do you?" He asked woman, in her current state she probably wouldn't be much help but it was worth a try.
Kasana - March 3, 2007 11:45 PM (GMT)
Wincing, the effects wore off.
"The hospitals on the outer part of cardiff" she said, muttering as she pulled out the sonic probe she carried around; scanning the ground with it, "The rift...thats why there is more coming through; the rift is becoming larger" she murmured. Squatting down, she winced; her hand changing into a paw as she clawed at the cement.
"I'm not human if your wondering, well at least not entirely...I'm a lupine wavelength haemovaroform"
Transforming fully, she smelt the air as weevils surrounded the pair. "Ah well, there goes my plan" she mumbled becoming human once more. Looking at the weevils, her eyes flashed yellow slightly as two suddenly turned to dust. "I've looked into the time vortex within the hull of my ship...and I've seen the future, past and present...and weevils are not in it" she said quietly, turning to face the other weevils as they turned to dust; wincing, the yellow dissapeared from her eyes as she moaned slightly.
*Whirr*
The cardboard box appeared once more, opening up the door as she reached in; pulling out a bottle of water as she drank from it before tossing it back in as the cardboard box dissapeared.
The Doctor - March 4, 2007 10:16 AM (GMT)
"I'm not human if your wondering, well at least not entirely...I'm a lupine wavelength haemovaroform"
"I thought something was a little, well... off about you." To tell the truth he'd thought he'd smelled wet dog as soon as he set foot in Cardiff, it seemed as if he'd found the source. "Anyway, I'm off to see what's going on with this little bug that's been floating around, one of those 'take two of these and call me in the morning' type things."
He turned back around watching the strange woman glow and subsequently vapourise several Weevils, "What did you go and do that for?!" He demmanded, jumping at her suddenly, forcing her back against the news stand, "You think just because you're eyes saw something they aren't meant to see you have the right to kill off the less fortunate species' willy nilly do you?! Looks as if I found myself another stupid ape, dog, whatever the hell you are!" Striding over to one of the surviving Weevils, whose lower body had been vapourised, he thought that if she was going to be judge, jury and executioner she could at least do the last part right.
"I'm sorry." He said simply, the creature reached up and it's hand brushed against his cheek, he felt a surge of thought, "He's a she." He said to himself and placed his hand over what was left of the Weevil's mid-section, "And she has... had children." Bringing his hand back up he tapped a nerve in the Weevil's neck, sending it to sleep instantly, at least the poor thing could die peacefully. Getting back up he strode away from the scene and toward where he had been told the Hospital was.
"Right," He said as he passed Kasana, "I'm going to go save some lives..." he stalked away, finding the psychic paper in his pocket, he'd need it to get into the Hospital. "Unless you think they might be better off dead as well!" He yelled back to her before he rounded the corner.
Kasana - March 4, 2007 10:23 AM (GMT)
Kasana bolted after him, "WAIT FOR ME DOCTOR" Kasana shouted.
OoC||Italics are mental messages, Bold Italics are thoughts ^^
Doctor...The Face of Boe...well...he said to say hello if I ever ran into you
She rubbed her head slightly, "Stupid weevils, I've seen your atomic structure and I broke it down; you don't exist in the 'upper' world, come up once again; I'll tear dna apart and turn you into a dalek" she murmured as she caught up with him.
"I'm coming with you, I know cardiff better then you"
Heading for the hospital, the black trenchcoat she wore flailing behind her; "I wasn't born on earth, I was born on Raxicoracofalapatorious" she said; "The Slitheen homeworld, my parents were slavery but when the krillitanes attacked; I was able to escape and steal parts to build my ship and put the time vortex in it" Kasana added.
She was one for killing, not saving, but this was an exception; seeing The Doctor after hearing everything about him, that was one thing; but helping him was another.
The Doctor - March 4, 2007 11:16 AM (GMT)
"WAIT FOR ME DOCTOR" You'd think she'd get the message
"Oh, not had our fill of viol-- wait a minute, you know the Face of Boe? Nevermind, I mean tell him hi from me if you see-- look, I'll cut you a deal now, you can just tag along with me while I save the world and whatnot, on the condition that you don't do that again, Weevil or otherwise. Cause I swear if I see a glint of the Time Vortex you'll wish you'd never seen it." He walked briskly onward, muttering to himself as he went, Kasana right behind him.
"It appears in what? A couple of days, so its not from Earth, my history's a little rusty but I don't remember a plague in 2007. Drop in body temprature either suggests the body becomes too busy to heat itself OR, this is a big or, the virus feeds of the body's heat to sustain itself. Suggesting either its sentient or it's a hive mind, radius of infection would suggest the later..." He continued on along various lines of thought for some time, building up a profile of the disease in his head. "Ah, here we are." He said as they found themselves outside the hospital in question.
Running up the steps he found himself face to face with a particularly menacing looking soldier, "Oh, I'm sorry, ID." The Doctor quickly whipped out the psychic paper, identifying him as a Doctor John Smith. "That's my assistant," he said pointing back toward Kasana, "Come on." He said beconing her inside, once the door closed behind them he waved his 'ID' in front of her, "Psychic paper." He stated, "But you already knew that didn't you? Care to see what this disease is all about then?"
He moved on, untroubled and unchallenged by the various phsycians rushing around the place, he spotted a door marked 'Viewing Platform' and strolled on through, they came into a darkened room with a glass pane at its end and small control station directly in front. Tapping a few keys The Doctor swiftly mastered the primitive technology, the lights sprang to life, revealing a huge hall on the opposite side of the glass. And inside stood rank upon rank of utterly motionless, utterly neutral looking 'patients.'
Weevil leader - March 4, 2007 11:31 AM (GMT)
He was sat there happily in his tunnels asleep. When suddenly something stirred inside him. It was a throbbing pain. It was great. There were cries within his head. It was his fellow weevils those of his clan and others. Some were stuck on the surface world. They were in great pain and sorrow.
He felt it in his head. It was driving him mad. He could feel the pain. They were being torn limb from limb, particle from particle. someone powerful had killed them. He went out into the region of sewers that was theirs to own. All of the group members were like that, they all felt the same pain of those poor weevils. Then the pain stopped except for one little pain. It was a female she was in serious pain.It was his partner. He knew it was her. He could tell. He didn't know how.
He set off to the surface to find her. She had his descendants in her. He climbed up a ladder and pushed open the manhole cover. There was a blast of light in his eyes. It temporarily blinded him. He blinked his beady eyes, and looked around. There was the body of someone. He rushed over and saw the remains of his wife. She was dead. The children too. He howled. Looked up and saw two people walking off. He followed them.
Damn the surface walkers.
Kasana - March 5, 2007 05:14 AM (GMT)
"Psychic paper."
"Its just a piece of paper that influences people, big woop; I'm a lupine wavelength haemovaroform" she said sticking her tongue out, walking to the edge of the viewing platform.
Doctor, The Face of Boe...well...he said that soon...when the time was right, he'd tell you his great secret
"Sir, can you get me and my colleague suits and take us as close to the victims as you possibly can" Kasana said, waving her hand slightly; using telepathy to influence the man, Mr Smith and herself were handed pressurised suits as she put hers on.
"Well, come on; arent you going to see the virus up close?"
Walking down stairs to the victims, pulling out a tiny camera as she took shots of the victims, slipping it back in her pocket. She looked around, moving towards the victims. Damnit...its no virus I know of, but this virus shouldn't exist til the 51st century. The young werewolf knelt down infront of a few of the victims. Staring at the floor, "May god save you" she whispered.
The Doctor - March 7, 2007 07:50 PM (GMT)
Looking one of the patients in the eye, The Doctor appeared to be starring at something, "Look at the eyes." The Doctor said, "The pupils they're dialated, like the lights are too bright, but its almost as if the body's switched itself off. Put itself on standby." The Doctor knew to what Kasana referred, "Maybe it is, maybe this is meant to look like it, maybe someones trying to throw us off." He tapped the patient on the nose, "No reaction. Not a sound or movement, as if the nerves are just... dead."
Suddenly the thought of the Face of Boe crossed his mind, he'd sort of switched off to be truthful, he'd barely caught Kasana's message. "The Face of Boe's old, even when put next to me, soon could mean when I'm another nine-hundred years gone by for him. Anyway, lets have a closer look." He leaned back toward the patient and was shocked as fingers clasped around his neck and rose him off the floor. "You... know what?" He choked out, before ramming his shoe into the poor man's stomach and dropping down as he fell, "Someone's definately trying to throw us off."
A hand sprang toward Kasana, but The Doctor swiftly pulled her away as the entire hall of people lurched toward them. "The door." he said flattly running toward the fixture in question and quickly pushing a somewhat reluctant Kasana through, "There's a time and a place for violence, honestly." He quickly locked the door after he was through. "Well that was different, you don't have any idea what just happened do you? Cause I don't."
Kasana - March 7, 2007 09:53 PM (GMT)
"Well that was different, you don't have any idea what just happened do you? Cause I don't."
Kasana sat down, sitting there; concentrating hard.
Scanning all the patients, she transformed into a werewolf; smashing through the door as she stood there, transforming back. "Stop...stop!" she said, continuing to attempt to use Telepathy to try and stop them.
The yellow in her eyes flashed, "STOP" she shouted as they stopped; "good...stay in your casings until I send for you" Kasana roared, walking out. Wincing. She had tapped into the mind of whoever was trying to throw the doctor and herself off their trail.
"Oh god...my head" she moaned, slumping down on a seat as she reversed the damage of the door using its atomic structure. Wincing, she clutched her head as she suddenly poured the thoughts of the mans mind into the patients as one of them hit the ground. Kasana quickly stood, setting off the fire alarm as everyone but herself and The Doctor evacuated.
She sat there, staring at the ground; her hair suddenly became fairly spiky, using telekenesis to spike it up as it remained that way; "C...Come on Doctor...lets get out of here..." she said trailing off.
The Doctor - March 24, 2007 12:35 PM (GMT)
Knowing that this young woman had been driven practically mad with power hurt The Doctor deeply, it practiuaclly tore him up inside, she could have been anyone she wanted, but she decided to be a killer. The Doctor had already left, a sample of the disease in his posession, it would take the Tardis about a quarter of a second to figure out what it was and about half an hour to figure out a cure.
Treading down the steps he could hear frantic cries from behind he scribbled a note and left it on the steps for her to find,
Its clear to me that, try as I might, some people are just too stubborn, I gave you a chance that most people wouldn't have, but I'm at my wits end, there's no known cure for your condition... other than death I mean. But if I ever find one, you'll be first on my list. I hope you find whatever it is you're looking for, even if its just more death, but you'll find me there.
The Doctor
He left the note on the top step, where he knew she would find it and then he went on his way, same old life, last of the Time-Lords.
