Today, I picked up my new Hypertherm Powermax 45 plasma cutter I got rid of the PM900s and the PM600, with the PM30 and the PM1250, I already have the PM 45 fits the need of a medium duty machine, to use on job sites. With a 45 amp output and a weight of 37#, the unit is highly portable and will cover about 90% of the plasma needs I have at work. Its a 208-230 vac single phase unit and has a 3/4" max cut rating and a 1" severance capacity. I have not used this unit yet, but have been using another PM45, the past 3 weeks at the VA hospital job, I've been working on. I really like this machine, very well made and the torch is very compact and easily usable with gloves on. The unit set me back about $1300.

Fortunately, I just happen to have a young fellow working at Lockede in Camillus, and he can haul that over here so I can thoroughly test it for you.
Which VA, Canandagua? I could stop by there and pick it up. I know you're real busy, and I wouldn't want to inconvenience you dropping it off here. |

Castle Point VA Hospital in Beacon, NY
Your generosity in offering to help me test the units is overwhelming, there is no way in good conscience, I could impose. It just wouldn't feel right. I have to make (3) 48" OD diameter x 16" ID diameter x 3/8" thick, burner adapter plates, to mount (3) retrofit burners on (3) old Superior boilers in a plastic factory down near Albany. That should give the PM45 a good workout and overall product test. After they are made they will have to welded to the boiler face, the the burners bolted to the adapter plate. If the PM45 can't do the job, then I used the PM1250 and send the PM45 back. jack |

Nice looking machine. I have the hperthem 600, cut's 1/2" severs 3/4, hardly use it but on SS and aluminum. I find for messing around project building , which is what i do, the consumables to expensive.
Plus I need heat for jobs so the torch is still my favorite... Perhaps when they get it right and go solor power I'll get interested in them again... |
