Title: Picked up a new bambi killer
Description: the old fashioned kind

JT Metalworks - September 18, 2010 10:25 AM (GMT)
I'm finally getting around to archery hunt bambi this year. So last night I was at cabelas looking for a new arrow rest since I didn't like my spring loaded perch one and it's plastic tips had eroded away (again). I'm in the bargain cave and find a rest I liked, went to go talk to the archery guys to see if everything was in the package and ended up shooting another bow some guy was demoing on the range.
That was the problem...

My old PSE polaris express was a pretty wicked shooter. Double cams, lots of power, good feel - nothing really wrong with it besides being a bit on the tubby side weight wise, slightly noisy, and about as old as Franz.

So the guy asks me if I want to try this thing he was shooting. Not being one to pass up an opportunity to put wear and tear on other peoples gear - hell yeah!

2 hours later I've got mine set up for me, still shooting a bit low on the 13yd range in the store, and I've already made the phone call sealing the deal on my PSE's new owner. My shoulder is sore, but the Diamond Ice Storm is a pretty wicked nail flinger. Best of all, I got the cabela's guy to hook me up with another cash card deal (I already used one this period) so I got 150 bucks off the rig to boot. :D

It's archery opener today, right now it's about 1hr before sunrise and I'm headed out to the woods.

If'n it's a bow from Franz's period it'll be made of Yew Wood and be called a Long Bow! :o

Damn right, I still got mine. Are you still making strings E?

Oh, I don't need all the fancy do-dads, just like I don't need to talk about how mathews bows are so awesomely amazing because they're made with elf sperm on the interwebs.

No, I'd rather be out in the woods watching all the deer in the state spooked into Wisconsin from the influx of Hmongs shooting everything that moves...

Gotta love the big city wildlife preserves. I'm saving my tags up north for rifle season.

Is that a CNC bow with electric motors to pull the string?

JT Metalworks - September 19, 2010 07:24 AM (GMT)
Can't have any device to assist in pulling or holding the string - that's considered a crossbow and only gimps get to hunt with them outside the firearms season (which is one week in november).

They use water jet to cut these out, then they use a horizontal mill with pallet system to mill the contours and drill/tap the cross holes. There's video on youtube.
