The other wire welding thing I got rid of recently was my thermal arc mig, and you wouldn't take that if I paid ya from how you've bad mouthed them since the day I got it. So I sold it for a grand to a happy buyer. :D

With the sale of the thermal, I actually turned a profit. Buying it when I did, before the big price increase (thermal stepping on ebay sales that were basically wholesale price), then taking a single year tax deduction on the machine in `05, and then selling it for 80% of what I paid for it - I made out with positive cash flow and essentially got paid to own it for 3 years.

I've owed back taxes before too. Back before I learned you need to keep buying stuff for the business or else they pound you in the exit.

I was doing lift kits and dropped suspensions in trucks and there wasn't any overhead as I worked in my parents driveway (while I was living in an apartment and couldn't work on vehicles there). I owned all my tools, and there's only 2 hands on your body, so how many sockets and wrenches do ya need, right? Tax time came around and it nailed me because my payroll deduction was too high (which was supposed to compensate for my side work income) so I hadn't been paying in enough. BAM! $5K IRS bill... (it was a good year)

I didn't have 5K to give to the IRS, and I didn't know you could hire sleazy lawyers to negotiate them down, so I ended up paying in over the next couple years with no refunds.

Is this behavior we want to punish in this country? I went out and ran a business on the side of my normal day job and produced services for other people who needed them, while at the same time supplementing my income from a regular job I didn't think paid me enough to do the things I wanted to do. Isn't that what this country is supposed to promote? I didn't beg my bama for a bigger handout because my section 8 housing isn't good enough. I was out there working!

Right now the lobstah catch'n industry is going right down the shytah. Catch is down, price is down and cost is up. Have an order for fifty anchors from one boat and ten for another boat and some repairs. That's about half of what I should be doing in their off season. Got two other boats thinking about ordering but I ain't seen any money yet and I ain't holding my breath.
