Title: TESTING COMPLETED

Franz© - September 4, 2007 12:58 AM (GMT)
It's beyond my wildest expectations!

Even though that rottin Marko blew Jonsey's Chinks into ICE and had the hauled off, Jonsey perservered in his dark basement workshop and created the Air Polisher Kits according to Egon's plans smuggled across the border.

When I got mine I just had to screw it into the 20# cylinder and add appropriate air connectors.
This thing works like a charm ahead of the plasma cutter. My testing indicates a popcorn fart has 100 times the water content of compressed air coming from this device.

I didn't even have any trouble applying the sticker.

Do we get to see the details of the vital innards of the polisher or is this still classified information? :D

Main - September 5, 2007 01:16 PM (GMT)
I'm guessing that you might have to send in $19.95 plus $9.95 shipping and handling to get that information.

FRANZ-OLD-MAN.........what's up with the 20 pounder cylinder ?

I was screwing around with a few designs of my own (only because I had a spare barbque tank that I couldn't get filled anymore because it didn't have the dummycrat "OPD" crapola on it).....

I kinda' think I could get that damn thing to "out-perform" the famous "FRANZINATOR" !...............

(No, I'm not telling you how)..................

Franz© - September 15, 2007 04:09 AM (GMT)
Nephew, I tell ya, it's almost like I think you been hangin around with that nitwitt Scumley over at SlowFlushingTurds or something.
First that damn fool & his azzwipe buddy Shady run around sayin how they are engineers and the Franzinator can't work cause they never saw one commercially made. Now, you go claimin this thing may oputperform the Franzinator.

Complete total frozen snott I say. The two devices are totally different. They operate totally differently, and they function at different places inthe airstream.

The Franzinator is a seporator that operates on temperature change, and the polisher operates by slowing the airstream.

Dammit boy you best jump in the funeral vehicle and go hunt that gaspipe weldor back up so you can get some understanding of drips in gas lines.

You been out in the hot sun without a hat again?

deadbodyman - April 14, 2009 12:17 AM (GMT)
Franz ,what is that and what does it do and why do I want one so bad? It looks like something I would build that everyone laughs at but want to use or borrow when they find out what it is and how well it works.

Mostly it's a crude immitation of what they call a drip in the natural gas pipping industry. There's a lot of them on every system in cities, and they capture and store the condensation as it flows along the line till a truck comes along and sucks the liquid off.

On the other hand it's a first cousin to Shlerp sitting in an inverted attitude.

As best I understand the physics, when a flowing gas stream is slowed slightly it drops liquids its carrying. That's why you normally install a T and a dripleg when you turn an airline up. The large cylinder here just slows things down a little more than an elbow does.

Since the air is entering from the bottom, and has to travel all the way to the top to get out, and since it also has more space to hang around in the compresed air lets go of a lot of the liquid that is being carried along the line. That liquid accumulates in the sump portion (dripleg) and you have drier air coming to the tool or plasma cutter.

Next month we may build another propane tank project if I can score some free silica gel. Naturally it will be self reactivating with an onboard heater and timer device.

Then again, I might just get hung up on perfecting the build it yourself soda blaster, made from an old fire extinguisher. I'm thinking of franchising the plans for that like Berkweer did with his nonfunctional sandblaster for the physics chalenged.

Of course I can't really get on the soda blaster till I finish the gravity cabinet media blaster incorporating the eductor system to feed the media back to the containment chamber from the bottom of the cabinet. Then I gotta install a system on the cabinet to minimize unnecessary flying dust. I just can't see spending a lot of energy to deal with dust when it isn't necessary to create a cloud in a cabinet to begin with. That way I can cut back on expended carbon credits.

If only it would warm up a bit I could get to some of these projects.

tackit - April 14, 2009 04:22 AM (GMT)
franz what if the tank was cut in half and a plate was welded between the halves and the top half was filled with antifreeze so the plate would be coller than the bottom chamber....condensate would form on the plate and drop to the bottom of the tank no?

What would be really cool is if you could plumb a heater core, have a fan and run feed and return lines to the top half of the tank. maybe it would work  .

Naw Tack, the polisher is a secondary device for removing water downline from the receiver.

Many winters back I did up a Franzinator 2.3 I think with a copper coil wound around the outside so I could pipe fluid thru the copper coil for additional chilling. I hooked that to a JetSpray cooler and it definitely performed well.

Now if somebody livin in a swamp wanted to do that today, he could pick up one of the $20 desktop chillers from Surplus center and a fountain pump and have some god results a lot cheaper than back when I did it.

Franzinators operate on rapid chilling to remove vapor and condense it out of the airstream between the compressor and receiver where you can acheive max temperature change. Once the air sits in the receiver and cools to room temperature you have to go really cold to pull any more water out.

The polisher removes water that is already liquid traveling the piping system.

It's also more a single tool device whereas the Franzinator is a system device.

Jack when are you going to let the boys over at WA know you come here?... In all the time I went to WA I never once read a thread made by you mentiong TBT. When I came her in April? I was flabergasted to read threads toe typed by you that dated a year earlier...

Does it have to do with your friend that you wanted to make my friend and his glued together sodablaster plans...for $9.95 ?

Now i'll post a dozen

Jack I don't think there is over 3" of 1/16 brass rod on that job, and I didn't use solder because it wouldn't have withstood the mechanicle load, and because the hole in the iron cap was overdrilled so solder wouldn't bridge the gap. An old leadladen head like yours should know solder can only bridge so far.

Thanks for the 2 feet of white crap you sent me. We finally found the Bobcat today, it was under a tarp in the snow. I had the helpers shove it in NotA building for the rest of the winter.

About time you showed back up after your NewYear drunk. Joanne sent a pic of you in your new leather jacket, but as a courtesy I didn't post it. Are you glowing yet? I figure you should look like a strobelight in a snowstorm.
