Writing from prompts is loads of fun. It's also a challenging exercise in discipline and creativity.

Use this forum to post quick prompts you come up with, or to find a prompt from another TBNer to spur your own creativity.

What sort of thing would classify as a prompt?

Anything really, from a single word or phrase to something very specific. Or maybe one thought has stuck in your head but you don't have any story ideas for it. Post it here and see if it spurs someone else's creativity.

Here are some random things that I though might be useful as prompts. They can be used separately or in any combination that occurs to you.

Echo.

Shadows.

Grief.

Some lyrics:

" . . . I didn't mean to waste your time
So I'll fall back in line
But I'm warning you we're growing up
I heard you found some pretty words to say
You found you little game to play
and there's no one allowed in"

from 'Turpentine' - Brandi Carlile

Okay, that's everything from me for now.

I am doing this...

Have been piece by piece when I feel up to it... usually during lunch for the past 2 weeks. It is... interesting.

Thanks for the strange prompt. laugh.gif

Just hang on to what we've got...

That good? =D

And here's another one...Not necessarily the war documentary, but whatever pops into your head:

Band of brothers.

I went to a writers' workshop last month, on writing about locations. The first prompt was pretty interesting, so I reproduce it here as best I can remember it.

"Write about a place you know well, but can't return to for some reason. Write in detail, but without emotion."

The other one was simpler, but worth reproducing here: "Write about a weather event."
