ps (just because you seemed worried about it) Tercets can be varied, according to most sources... although: Regarding the order of the key words in the tercet: Jorge de Sena, a Portuguese poet, indicates that the first line contains words 1 & 2, the second words 3 & 4, and the final line words 5 & 6, in that order. The sestina by Philip Sidney, cited below, uses this order. Other sources specify 1 & 4; 2 & 5; 3 & 6. Sestina writers seem to have felt freer to alter this part of the pattern than the strict rotation and interchange of the end words in the six sestets. From the wiki, of course. |

Ooh, I have a question! It's more about syllables, but since I'm writing Haiku, I'll put it here:
Say you have a word...like "rhyme." It's one syllable. So what if you put "-ed" on the end, so it's "rhymed"? Does that make it two syllables, or is it still one? It doesn't sound like two to me, but I'm just curious. |

But I'm no good at coming up with titles.... Group: Members Posts: 191 Member No.: 57 Joined: 28-February 07 |
Sorry I'm a few days late with this, but yes, rhymed is two syllables.

I think it is only one? (I even did the clapping thing...) I dunno? It's a tricky one... |

...i thought that with poetry forms, sometimes the -ed can be included with the main word for 1 total syllable, but can also be emphasized, making 2 total syllables, and that it depends on the writer's needs.
then again, the last formal poetry (english) course i took was a while ago. |
