THE RULES
__&& REGISTRATION
1. Please sign up with either a first and last name or your mutant’s alias. The alias would be something like White Queen or Exodus or Storm.
2. no funny business with this. We’re old enough to know better by now. A good example of a name would be ‘Emma Frost’ or ‘Magneto’ but nothing like ‘oneinthree’ or ‘bennetduParis’
3. if you mistype something in the registration form, please contact an admin via accounts and I’ll gladly fix it for you. Do not hesitate to ask.
4. please make sure that you have checked the canon list to make certain of who you would like.
5. the only place you’re allowed to post if you’re not accepted is the out of character portion of the site and to reserve a character or a celebrity for your face claim.
6. XANE is remodeling, so some characters may be reserved already.
__&& CHARACTERS
1. you may have up to three (3) characters if you are a new member! Old members may keep the four (4); they have, which few do, and administrators may have up to five (5).
2. if you have a Canon Character (CC) meaning it is a character from the comic book or movie, you may not add powers. Pyro cannot create fire so that shouldn’t be a power in his profile or IC posts. The CCs don’t have to have the powers in the movies, they can have them from the comic books if you would like. If you have an OC, you may have a maximum of four (4) powers and a minimum of one (1) unless you are human and yet to figure out your power.
3. the celebrities that will be playing your people should have at least a little resemblance. I don’t want a character with an African American mother to be pasty white. Just use common sense please.
4. for the time being, I don’t mind if we have an imbalance of males and females or of houses. Sure, it’s not fun to have two guys and thirteen girls, but for now, I’m not enforcing a rule.
5. no Mary-Sue characters. This basically means that we all have flaws and weaknesses that need to be put into account here. Also, lets have a variety of people here. We don’t need an abundant amount of pimps and sluts about. I know, they’re oh so fun to play, but let’s get real here.
6. not all of your characters can belong to the same affiliation! At the most, two may be in one affiliation! If you have one already in one and your next character (if original) is supposedly going into it as well, we have the permission to say no to that affiliation if there are too many people in there.
7. just like having strengths, each mutant must have equal counterproductive weaknesses. Reading is a weakness, but if your character's blind, then don't put that. Example: if your character is Pyro, the weakness to fire is water. But you can also think up new things; like fog or fear of tight places. It’s all in your mind if you put in some effort.
__&& ROLE-PLAYING
1. all posts must be at least three hundred words!
2. no one-liners! Seriously, if I find any of this, I will be after you like Elmer Fudd for Bugs Bunny. Instead of a shotgun, it’ll be a metal spork and a nice long lecture. Nobody wants that!
3. THIRD PERSON! If none of you know what third person is, then I suggest you learn quickly.
4. grammar is something we learn at an early age, so it needs to be pulled out here as well. There’s spell check if you really need it. If you’re an exceptional speller, a few misspelled words aren’t too much of a bother because I know many times where my brain thinks one thing but my fingers type another. Just watch out for it. MICROSOFT WORD SPELL CHECK is your friend!
5. the site will probably have some violence dealing with magic, drinking, drugs, sex, swearing, and other things involving teenagers. If you’re not comfortable this, you’ve been warned and we’ll try to accommodate for you. If something kind of mature is going on, please put some sort of warning in your title, perhaps a [R] or a [X] or something.
6. no god-modding – enough said.
__&& ADMINS
1. your head admin is Grace. You can reach her at any of the accounts listed in the side menu. Then there’s me, Erin, I’m here for coding and other things when Grace is gone. I’m here too
2. both of us demand some for m of respect, no going around calling us hoes or anything.
3. please wait at least 48 hours before contacting an admin about a profile. It’s unlikely we won’t get there before then though.
4. to prove you read the rules, please put ‘gambit has red eyes’ in italics and in red.
__&& MEMBERS
1. do not flame, disrespect, or yell at other members for something serious. Making members feel bad is not what role-playing is about and it will not be allowed.
2. do not PM anybody inviting them to join a site! There are advertising boards for a reason! I get sick and tired of people passing along messages about a new site. This is a major oh-no-you-didn’t.
3. with new members, please help them out. I can’t afford getting a hundred messages a day asking me some of the simplest things. Members! If you do not know it, do not tell them anything. Have them go to the support area!
__&& ADVERTISING
1. feel free to post an advertisement of somebody else’s board, but make sure that they have a guest friendly advertising area so we can post back. WE ACCEPT ALL BOARDS!
2. XANE will affiliate with anybody, proboards or invisionfree, it doesn’t matter.
__&& ACTIVITY
1. there will be sporadic activity checks during the month. It isn’t that I want to try and just surprise you with it. I always try to do it at a certain time during the month, but I never seem to keep up with it. If I feel the board is getting inactive and cluttered, I will do it.
2. please note that if your character(s) are deleted, they are up for grabs by anybody, but you may also reclaim them. Don’t reclaim them though if you’re just going to be inactive again. I don’t want to have to remind everybody every other week.
3. also note that when your character is up for grabs, so is your celebrity that you use for your character. If you reclaim your profile, you just might not get your celebrity back. You have been warned.
__&& PICTURES
1. there is no real amount of space that you can use. If you want to use a 200x500 picture or several 100x100 icons or 300x200, that is fine, but I don’t want it all sloppy and resizes the board. This also means no pictures taken right off from Yahoo! or Google images. You will get a message from me if this happens.
2. be smart people! I don’t want nude pictures and suggestive statements! Honestly, if we wanted that, there would be a variety of porn sites we could go too.
3. the maximum size for an avatar is 100x100.
__&& OTHER
1. the site is a basic three-strike-your-out system. You first get a warning, it happens again, you get banned for two days [48 hours], and the third you get banned for good, old boy so lets not screw it up.
2. XANE does not discriminate against race, religion, ethnicity, gender, or orientation.
3. I, Erin, made this site, but have given it over to Grace. We both have the right to do anything we please with it. Suggestions are welcomed, but you don’t get to boss us around.
