Biography:
Saruman was sent to Middle-earth as Chief of the Istari, but fell into darkness after a time. Settling in Isengard in 2759, Saruman had full consent of the current Steward of Gondor, and was (at first) loyal to Rohan. Slowly, though, he began to lust for power, and so he used Isengard’s Palantír, as well as persuading the White Council to leave the Necromancer in Dol Guldur.
In 2953, Saruman proclaimed Isengard his own, brining in both Orcs and Dunlendings and sending them out to bother Gondor and Rohan. It wasn’t till around the year 3000, however, that he actually fell in league with Sauron upon using the palantír. In the year 3010, he called upon his servant, Gríma, and ordered him to poison Théoden of Rohan with a toxin that would speed up the King’s aging process.
When Saruman sent a band of orcs out to take the Ring from the fellowship, he brought about his own demise. The orcs only managed to capture Merry and Pippin, who escaped when Éomer of Rohan assaulted the camp. The hobbits ran into Fangorn Forest and there met Treebeard the Ent, who called an Entmoot which decided to attack Isengard and avenge the trees lost by the hand of Saruman. The Ents imprisoned Saruman in his own tower, but he was later released once Gandalf had cast him out of the order of the wizards. Saruman and Gríma travelled to the Shire and moved into Bag End. When Frodo returned home, he organized a group of hobbits to rebel and they cast Saruman out of Bag End. As he was leaving with Gríma, his servant turned on him, slaying him with a dagger.
