It was Kojima first day and it seemed like a dark maze she could never escape. The classes and students around her saw her as invisable fly on the wall. It was the same every day of going and coming to school. This day shocked her as Kojima found out she was moving to another school in Japan since her mom changed jobs again and followered her through.

The morning seemed different living in Japan then in Colorado. Kojima got out of bed and dressed quickly. Making sure she was dressed nice in her goth cloths and her side bangs was perfect then headed out of the door in the chill morning air while listening to her I-pod while walking to school. Sees the building and sighs, walks in looking around for her classes with took about ten minutes to find in such a large school. Finally found her English class and stepped in as the teacher called her name, just raised her hand as her name was called and didn't call out like the other kids did. Took a seat in the back by a window and laid her bag at her feet, awaiting another boring school day or was it?

For Shinku, life was but a burden. Every day was an extra load she had to carry on her back. Every chance she had, she’d dump off a load, take a day off, suffer one bit less. Kids at school hated her for no real reason. She was not a model student like she used to be. On her report cards, the longstanding A’s were replaced by B’s, then C’s, and so on. After nearly every person at some point had picked on her, she gave up. School became a torture, she couldn’t learn with people always trying to discourage her. Calling her a nerd or teacher’s pet at every possible chance. People excluding her, ignoring her, hating her.. it brought her down. She didn’t ever raise her hand anymore, because the fear of getting beat up after school was too powerful. She just wanted to get away from school for good, but she had a few years left. Sadly, Shinku didn’t have much to look forward to except heavier loads to carry, she felt like she would soon be squashed under it all. She needed someone to take half of it for her, but she knew nobody of such kindness.

Nao sat in the very back of the classroom because when he got there every day that was the only seat open. He had glasses and stood 5'4" with jet black hair. He wore the school uniform, but he always hated it. His freinds had argued that you could "personalize" it but he had said that even so it was still a uniform and no amount of personalization short of spraypainting it would make any difference. He was fairly intellegent, got A's and B's on his report card and answered the teacher's questions regularly. He liked to help people and had a tutoring business to fulfill that purpose. He got beat up fequently as well; stuffed in the locker and the rest. He knew Tai Chi and knew he could easily defeat his adversaries, but he didn't bother. Besides, he felt no pain anymore, so as far as he was concerned he was just losing some money to a bunch on neanderthals. He sat there looking out the window and contemplating the new girl and several other things as the theacher began class.

Shinku walked down the long main hall of the school, while dragging her feet and dreading every step closer she became to the first classroom on her schedule. She glanced over to the big bay window at the corner of the hallway, watching a few birds fly away, and wishing she could be right there with them. Then suddenly the bell rang! Shinku walked only a little bit closer the the class before turning back to the window. This sight took away all the heavy worries they weighed down on her. Shinku walked slowly down the stairs and then out the door, sitting behind the school. Where nobody could see her, she felt free to let her imagination wander. In her mind, she sprouted wings and became a bird. She soared right along side the sparrows in the sky. suddenly she heard some beeping noises that brought her back to reality. A construction site was nearby. The workers had started their daily shift of shoveling dirt with giant machines. Then one of the workers spotted shinku and stomped up to her.
"shouldn't you be in class little missy?"
"well um..you see.. t-this is my free block, I don't have class right now."
"We'll see about that!"
Shinku was then dragged to the main office where she was promptly sent to class, and given detention. With a sigh, she sat and took her notes, dodging glares by holding the notebook to hide her face while she wrote.

Kojima looked up as the teacher as Mrs. Bolton (teacher name) started talking to the class. Listened to the teacher carefully, taking in every word as it was her last. it did get boring after awhile and before she knew it, her head hit the desk falling asleep. She suddenly woke up with a big book slamming on her desk and the teacher glaring at her. "Kojima, it time to wake up!!" Mrs. Bolton said deeply as the other kids looked at her and snickered at her. Kojima just looked at the students and the teacher with half awake eyes. "I sorry Mrs. Bolton, but I didn't have any time getting any sleep since I was looking and remembering the campus maps over and over or I would of been an hour late to class. Just give me a break; this is my first day here in Japan." Kojima says slowly while yawning and sitting up and rests her chin on her hands and looks at the teacher like she does not care what the punishment will be.
Looked at Nao as to notice him the very first time with a light smile then back at the teacher. It can't be worse then in Colorado I bet , she thinks in her head. "Thats it young lady with giving that kind of attitude, you get a detention today after school and for the mean time, you are going to spend the day in the principals(sp?) office." Mrs. Bolton says deeply at kojima as to make her jump from her seat. Kojima just sighs and says "So what." and lays her head on the desk. This angered the teacher and went to the phone and called and sent her down. Kojima just got up and left the room without a care. The teacher goes back to teaching as soon as she leaves.

Nao looks in from the window and catches the new girl smiling at him. He was new to this as he had never had a girl friend much less befirended one. A new, fuzzy feeling stirred inside him. What was this feeling?Most of the girls he knew at this school were pretty much snobs. They all labled and there were only two that they could and, as far as he was concerned, ever would use one him: geek and weakling. He thought that it was probably just the glasses, or maybe they weren't as dumb as theirt grades made them out to be. But none of that mattered now, what mattered was that he had to know more about this new girl. Unfortunatley for him, he couldn't find out anything until lunch time, and that was a long way off.

Shinku went through each class with despair that day, only detention awaited her after school. With nothing to look forward to, Shinku lazily wrote, took notes, and listened to lectures. When the day was over, she went to the room designated for detention, where she had been many times before. She quietly sat and saw all the other unfortunate people who had also been put there. Detention is just something that reminds you of what you did wrong. Shinku didn't feel like enjoying herself earlier was so wrong, in fact, it felt very right. How could it be wrong to sit and watch the beautiful things in life. Shinku believed that her young and spirited years were the best times to enjoy her life at every moment possible, because those moments were rare. Spending time in school was just restricting her, blocking her from where she belonged. When the teacher told them to write what they did wrong 10 times, Shinku wrote 'nothing' 10 times. When the teacher asked them to write how they could improve their behavior in one paragraph, Shinku wrote a paragraph on why her behavior was fine.

Kojima walked down the hall and a couple of teachers stopped her. She just showed them the red slip and they pointed her in the right direction to the office. Walked on like she was and turned toward the restrooms and a teacher saw her. Calming down and taking big breaths from all the drama she had experienced so far and stepped out calmer then this morning. The teacher was waiting for her and asked why she was in there. "I had to go, what I can say." Aki says and walks on to the office or looks like it. Walks past the teacher and convinced her she was going to the office as she went back in her classroom. Finally stopped and looked behind her checking and making sure it was clear. Sighing of relief and walked outside for awhile to pass time enjoying the fresh air and cool breeze against her skin.
She was only out for half an hour and went to the office, slowly stepping through the office doors as the principle was waiting for her while sitting on the coach. He glared at her for a second and Aki says, “What? I got lost and had to find my way around. This is my first day, so don’t expect me to the school map by heart today.” He just sighs and leads her into his office and tells her to write a paper. He leaves the room and locks his door. She sighs and starts writing the paper. After awhile the bell rang and he unlocked the door, took the paper from her hands and lead her out of the office. Everyone was around as it was lunch time. She just sighs knowing her mom has not put any money in her lunch account and walks to a table by a window, starring out of it.

Nao moved slugishly through the lunch-line. He had always thought that the lunch lady was kind of pretty and very sexy, but underneath her generally appealing exterior lay the vissage of a monster. She was just about the biggest bitch on staff, next to the vice priciple. With a sneer on her face as usual, she let pour todays lunch special. Great, he thought, puréed meatloaf. After picking up some fruit so he wouldn't completely go hungry, he saw the new girl sitting alone. He noticed that everyone seemed to be avoiding her. He shrugged, walked over, and sat down. He stared at what he could loosely call food and said, "Hey there. Thought you could use some company. You don't seem to have a lunch. You can have anything i have if you want it." A small smile formed on his face after he said this.

She lost her train of thought as he sat down at her table. Looked away from the window and looked at him. In an instant she recognized him from her class. "Oh that is kind of you, but I don't know if you want to company a trouble maker goth. Thanks anyway." Kojima says turning to him and rested her hands in her lap. She even stood up straight from her slouching position. For a moment she gave a light smile and says, "You mean it? You help me out on my lunch problem? Sure I guess, but is there anything that is actually eatable?" She says with a small laugh. It was like he didn’t come over to her to hurt her like the other kids. Looked at his lunch tray as her stomach was desperate for food and took an apple he had on his tray. “Mind if I have this?” Kojima asks while reaching across the table and taking the apple, but does not take a bite out of it yet, but to make sure it was okay with him.

After detention Shinku had only a fraction if her lunch time left. She headed towards the lunch room and heard some girls giggle at her as she walked past. Shinku just grabbed a little cookie desert and sat at the corner of an empty table near a window. She saw a girl she had never seen before sitting with a guy she really didn't nkow. She found it interesting so she ended up staring. When she realized they saw her staring, she blushed and looked away. While nibbling her cookie, she couldn't help but strike an occasional glace at the two. The bell rang, and Shinku just had one last class before sweet freedom.

Nao adjusted his glasses and said, "Sure, you can have that. I'm partial to bananas myself." He looked at the clock and notices that it's nearly time to leave. He shrugs and begins to eat one of the bananas from his tray. She was truely beautiful. He hadn't seen anything like her before. When he took his fith bite, he looked out of the corner of his left eye and saw that one girl who used to be top of the class along side him, but then she began to decline. He didn't know why, but he felt like going over and talking to her. He said, "I'll see you later, ok?" and went over. He smiled and said, "You have plans after school?"

She smiles and takes a bite out of the apple. Really didn’t have that much to say to him and satin silence eating the apple. Kojima was not much of a talker towards anyone and that makes the people around her uncomfortable so they avoid her for that. Just noticed the other girl from the corner of her with a cookie in her hand and sighs thinking, She probley saying what a looser I am like everyone else. Before Kojima could answer his question, he was off toward the other girl and whispers to herself, “Ok.” Seeing him walk over to Shinku, she stands up and walks out toward the football field alone and noticed it was windy today. Kojima kept walking till she was in middle of the field and started to practice her magic. Slowly a golden aurora began to glow around her body.

surprised and embarrassed that he noticed her, Shinku stuttered."w-who? m-me?", she said while focusing her eyes on the floor. There was nobody near her, he had to be talking to her. This was shocking to her since she hadn't had anyone talk to her kindly in a while.
Shinku slowly looked back up to Nao and replied, "W-well.. no.. not really." She heard a door close on the other side of the room, and she saw the new girl walking away. Then, she saw a strange thing happen... she saw some sort of glow around the girl. Trying not to freak out and scare Nao away, Skinku just pointed and let her jaw drop. "w-what is that? Do you see it too?" She wanted to make sure she wasn't going crazy.

Nao smiled when she said that she didn't have any plans. Then he turned part way to look where she was pointing. He saw the soft golden glow and adjusted his glasses, still smiling. He knew exactly what was going on, though he was surprised that it waqs her from which it came. He offered his hand to Shinku and said, "Care to join me?"

Seeing no one around or she thought so as her golden glow grew brighter and brighter. Soon it became so bright that if anyone saw it, they would have to shield their eyes with their hands. Slowly chanting and chanting till a pair of golden wings popped out of her back and her eyes turned a deep golden color. Her hair grew longer and one bold golden streak appeared on her right side. Her costume even changed from her normal cloths to a royalty robe. Now she stood close to six feet and looked thinner then her usual self. The bright golden glow slowly faded away revealing the hidden mysteries Kojima that was kept a secret for many years. Hearing a presence around, she slowly turns around looking like a goddess from a fairy tale and says, “Whose there?” in a smooth and gentle voice that sounded nothing like hers. Sighing she sat down on one of the bleachers and thought to herself. “No one can know who I am. Have to keep it a secret.” Kojima thinks in her head.

Shinku was still shocked. She looked at Nao and said, "oh.. really?sure!". This made Shinku feel really confident. She took his hand and stood up as the bell rang. School was over, she felt much better.

Shinku walked out the door and heard it clang behind her. The glow was much to bright to be natural. She squinted as she walked with Nao. The closer they got, the brighter it was.

Nao was happy that she decided to accept and clasped her hand loosely, but firmly. He lead her to that strange light that was coming from the direction of the football field. When he got there he saw her in her radiant beauty. She was so brilliant in her elegance that he almost fell to his knees and cried at the mere sight of her. He would have been frozen, but his legs kept moving him forward, out of his control. When he was right in front of her, all he could do was stare. He had thought he knew what was going on, but now he realized that he didn't have a clue.

He regained his composure by closing his eyes, taking in a deep breath, and moving his arms in a circle until they came level with his pecs and then pushed down as if there was something there to push, the tips of his fingers facing eachother as he did so. When his breathing ritual was complete, he opened his eyes, dawned a half smile and said, "So, what exactly is this that you've been hiding?"

Kojima was surprised and didn’t hear them coming whiles she was too deep in her thoughts. Looked at both of them with her beautiful golden eyes and saw Nao holding hands with Shinku. “Shinku your name right?” she says looking toward the girl. Turned her attention back to Nao and says, “Hiding what? My true self you mean?” Kojima stands up and steps up to the top of the bleachers and sits down again. “Schools out already huh? Too bad I have detection to go to right now. I had been hiding this form ever since a little girl, a queen in secret. That’s what you wanted to hear huh?” she says calmly looking down at them then out past the football field past them. She gives them both a certain glance as they are needed of something important and didn’t know how to say it. Kojima leaned back, enjoy the cool breeze on the top bleacher. She almost was offended to tell her secret to them, but kept her polite and kind voice to them.

Nao continued to gaze upon her and said, "I realize this must be hard for you to reveal to anyone, especially us. I have a secret myself and i wonder if i might share it with you, perhaps you'll feel better about it." With that he assumed one of his tai chi postitions and moved his hands towards him then away again. From beneath the bleachers came water. He positioned on hand under and one hand over and the water floated in midair between them. He looked up to see her reaction.
