Title: Animated Typewriter

[Sparks] - January 10, 2005 01:04 AM (GMT)
Ok, This is my first tut, so you are going to have to bear with me:

1. Get a premade signature that you made, Im going to use this one:

2. Then, your going to make a new layer for each letter that you are going to animate and ake a new layer with a spacer ( Shift + subtract button), like this:

Before you go into ImageReady, you need to make sure that you can't see any of the layers except the backround:

3. Now, your ready to use ImageReady

Once your in ImageReady, your sig should look like this ^^^ Your Spacer should be showing.

4. Now you need to make a bunch of new slides, try to keep up.

Slide 1: Sig with spacer (your spacer has to line up just under your first letter):

Slide 2: Your first letter, and take the spacer off:

Slide 3: Your first letter, and the spacer where your second letter will be:

Slide 4: Your first letter and second letter:

Slide 5: Your first and second letter, and a spacer where your third letter
will be.:

Slide 6: Your first, second and third letter:

Slide 7: Your first, second, and third letter, and a spacer where your forth letter will be.:

Do this until your word is done.

my suggestion is to keep the speed of the slides at 0.2 seconds

P.S. If you want the word to blink at the end, make a slide with your word, then make and empty slide, then make another slide with your word on it.

This is what I got, what about everyone else? Post 'em.

its too hard to understand how to make the frames, and animate the whole thing together.

[Sparks] - January 15, 2005 06:48 AM (GMT)
should i make pics for people who don't know how to make frames?

Smooth101 - January 15, 2005 04:42 PM (GMT)

Its a little too hard for me too, i cant get the spacer moving in Imageready and i dont get the animation bar thats on the bottom of your screenshots.

How Can I save those animated Pictures so If I load them that they appear liket that?

[Sparks] - January 18, 2005 10:26 PM (GMT)
To save the .psd file, just go to Save As. But if you want to save the animated file, you have to go to Save Optimized as. It automatically changes it to .gif. Don't try to change it.

It's an awesome tutorial.. the one problem I had trouble with which you didnt specify how to do quite clearly was on step 2. Creating the layers for each letter. How do you line them perfectly?? So for that reason I've skipped trying this one. Hope you can help us out. Nice job tho. and thanks.

why does he need to make his own thread?? I would think it should be fine to post a sig u made from someone tutorial in there thread.. don't you think so? Hel.. if i took the time to make a tutorial, I'd want ppl to post there creative sigs, or pictures.

It took me a while to get the letters to line up correctly, but a little problem-solving soon solved the issue. Also, it took some time getting the frames just right... Without further ado, here is what I came up with using your tutorial:
