When my wife and I were married just 4 months we were tboned by a woman. I just had knee surgery because of the accident. Wife had shoulder surgery and trouble with her lower back. She has 2 bulging disc in lower back. She been getting shots which kept her pain free for about 6-9 months. Now we went back and she can't have any more shots. So seeing a surgeon next Thursday that does plastic disc. The one disc is leaking fluid and is torn plus is bulging. This doc is only one that does this procedure. So asking for prayers that this operation will be successful. Nancy had trouble with this for last 5 years now.Always in pain so hoping the pain will be gone once she is operated on. We read up and this procedure does help. Better to have this then a fusion like I have.
Thanks
Ray

Prayers from Montana Ray..I am certain that your wife will be in much better shape after this procedure..Most people that I know that have had lower back surgery have had good results...
I have been checking into a procedure in California that uses a white polypropylene disc with a stainless center...This allows the disc to move and the steel gives it strength..
Just recently they started offering this procedure to people with necks like mine...I have no disc at 5-6 and 7-8 cervical...Recently I ha d the new x-rays-least new for here-that uses a computer..The X-rays are taken with a new machine and the prints are sent right to the Drs. computer. I guess the resolutions are much better.. So, he can now see that I have discs in my lower back that are deteriorating too.. biggrin.gif

My Dr. set me up with a newer guy here that does pretty good operations..After examining me he said I can't have that disc replacement because there is "Too much other stuff wrong with my neck"
He said only a fusion will help me.. I didn't believe him and besides he has shore stubby fingers... biggrin.gif dunno.gif
Yeah, pretty dumb huh, but my idea of a great surgeon was always a tall smart guy with long fingers....I guess I didn't want some short, stubby fingered dude, who obviously didn't know that I do a heck of a lot of my own research, opening up the front of my throat and grinding down my spurs and fusing my neck..If I really have "Too much other stuff wrong with my neck" then sorry, a fusion isn't gonna be a cure all either... Mad.gif

So-I'll just keep on keeping on..But I believe your wife will get good results form this particular surgery and give her our best and tell her we are thinking and praying for her... thumbs_up.gif

I have 3,4,5 fused in upper back. Gives me a fit every day. Funny when I'm hunting seem to be pain free. Guess should be hunting more often. The problem with a fusion disc below the fusion the other disc weaken and also will need to be fused down the road. I was told 3-7 years may need more surgery. I can thank the drunk with no insurance. Never even showed for court for this. I 'm limited what I do but I still try. I had my guide load my hog on the atv for me.

I'm lucky to know very little about the subject. I've got one herniated disc in my neck but it's no big deal so I'm grateful. Nancy is in my prayers and I do hope the surgery goes well for her and helps a bunch.

Prayers are definitely coming out of Grand Rapids, MI. also Ray. I have a bad L4 disc but absolutely nothing compared to what your wife is going through. Please keep us up to date on how she is doing.

Prayers going out. I know back pain my friends. At east in some cases there is the option of surgery. Mine is caused by my syndrome so there is no way they can operate. Collapsed vertebra, collapsed disks, spiraling disks, boney protrusions, vertabra fused together by themselves, scoliosis so bad my spine is in a sharp s starting with L1 which goes completely sideways. Thats a small sample, there's more, but I mention it referring to knowing the pain involvbed with the spine. Crazy mother nature threw me a curve. sort of a good one in a way as if I didn't have my syndrome and my spinal cord not able to stretch where others don't, I'd be dead from the neck down. So I consider myself lucky.
I still read up on these things and the surgery that your wife will have done has some very good results. I think she will feel much better after the operation.
Leep, I remember my father having a lot of trouble similar to yours. He also had the spurs. Not a fun thing to have by any means.

We are still waiting approval from Nanacy's health insurance. She called them was told takes 15-30 days to see if they will approve her disc replacement. Mean while she still in pain.

Tell your wife to hang in there. I'm sure things will work out for the best.

I'm sorry you have to wait so long. Mine drags its feet as well but at least they finally say yes. Let's hope that's the case for your wife.
