Low water in the lakes and while Riley was exploring one with his kayak, he found a bird band on what used to be a sunken island. No corosion on the band so we had no way to tell how long it had been there. We called in the information and they sent Riley a certificate giving some details. Turned out the bird was banded in Michigan a very long time ago.

Now that's really cool. Kudos to Riley......
I found a bird band once back in Pennsylvania back in the 70's...They were kinda cool but they couldn't play worth a darn and when they did they were all out of tune..And Puleeeease, trying to deal with all those inflated egos was just too much.... You might have recognized a couple of them..They got a spot on TV making fun of the guy who keeps walking into his big glass door after his wife cleaned it with Windex.... If anyone was going to make it I knew it would be those two..They were always my favorites..Boy does that bring back memories..... Leep: -------------------- ![]() |

Wow! thats neat. I've never killed a duck with a leg band. But I did kill a deer with a metal ear tag on, Ft. Bragg. The wildlife center had the hardest time trying to figure out the number on the tag. They couldn't tell if it was, 68 or 89. That was about 15 years ago. I still keep the metal tag on my keychain.
