Here is a daily blog from the young kid in Michigan's Upper Peninsula that I followOctober 29th, 2011. Tonight I went out to 'The Sanctuary'. I thought it might be a good night as a spikehorn passed by my stand within 20 minutes of getting set. After awhile, about 10 deer started to appear out in the hayfield not far from my stand. Soon, I saw a bunch of 'white flags' as all the deer ran off of the field. It didn't take long to find out why, as a large wolf was roaming around the field. I actually watched him sit down and howl. About 10 minutes later, two other wolves appeared, so now there were three sniffing around. Finally they actually lied down right in the field, right where I need to go to exit the property. I decided that if I had to chase off the wolves, I'd rather do it in the daylight while I could still see, rather than after dark. So, I climbed down about 30 minutes before dark, and chased them off. They didn't seem too scared of me, which was slightly disappointing. Blah. Also, when I checked one of my trail cameras at my 'Otter River' spot, I had a picture of four wolves on that camera. I'd never seen wolf sign at that property before. The wolf population continues to grow.
