Title: Younger Brother gets it done in Alabama

The past couple of days I have had some kind of bug that was making me cough my head off. I decided it was pointless to buy the non-resident license.

So my younger brother went anyhow by himself. Yesterday morning. So of course, he scored.

9 1/2" beard, 3/4" spurs and 16lbs 12 oz.

Honestly, he hasn't needed any help from big brother in a long time. And he proved it again yesterday. It was a gobbleless morning but he struck this one at 8:45am, 15 minutes later he was calling me while the bird was still flopping. He hammered the bird at 25 yards with his BPS.

Actually for turkeys, he'll admit, usually I'm the lucky one. The way I look at it, God is just giving them to me. I'm not gonna take the credit. Yes, I know some stuff about hunting turkeys. But, none of that matters when it's not your day to get one. I accept that. I'm thankful when I get one. I treat them all as a gift.

Funny thing is, he killed that bird where I would have set up for the morning while he was running around. He has a hard time staying in one spot. I have a hard time moving around.

He told me. If you had been hunting this morning, you very likely would have got him.

I've already got a good bird this year. It's one of the better turkeys I've taken. I don't feel bad about him getting this bird at all.
