Name: Aquila Nostradamus
Age: 23 when sired.
Gender: Female.
Race: Vampire.
Sexuality: Straight.
Appearance: The assortment of colours is the first thing people notice about Aquila. Her hair a vivid cerise pink and clothes a jumble of bright satins and silks, she doesn’t often pass unnoticed in a crowd. This contrasts sharply with Pardus’ usually dark attire, comprising of kaftans and cloaks. Aquila’s skin is snowy, her lips usually painted a bold colour to match parts of her outfit. One of the most extraordinary things about Aquila is her eyes, which differ considerably in colour. A subtle difference in mortal life, heightened considerably by vampiric life, one eye is a bright yellowy green while the other is a more cyan blue.
Personality: Aquila has liked attention ever since her visions began. The nuns tried to prevent them by performing rituals and praying for her forgiveness, but the children were fascinated. She played to the crowd whenever Pardus needed her to as a child, to tempt unsuspecting victims into the apartment, and still she likes being the centre of attention. She’s playful and lively, prone to harmless flirting. Her personality causes her to get on very well with
Etta.History: To understand Aquila’s history, one much also delve into the history of her sire,
Pardus Erastus. Aquila was brought up in an Italian orphanage run by nuns, her mother having died in childbirth. When she was nine she begun having visions, at first only seeing things that would come to pass within the orphanage. Then she began to see horrible deaths featuring those she knew and cared about. On her tenth birthday she fled, and found out that 2 weeks later cholera had spread throughout the city, killing the weak and vulnerable. She blindly made her way north, towards Milan, scavenging and begging until she met Pardus.
Pardus was already a fully fledged vampire, with history he would never disclose. He wanted a servant to mould, one that would bring him things that he desired and run errands without question. He lived in an apartment in the centre of the bustling city and people so frequently came and went, that no one really noticed the eleven-year-old girl. He gave her a new name, new clothes, and told her what it was she would have to do in return. Pardus’ weakness for blood was almost as strong as his weakness for tobacco; before he knew it he was taking the ‘little drink’ from Aquila on a daily basis.
Aquila wasn't stupid, she understood partly what was happening. The little drink thrilled her, the sensation it gave made her heady with excitement. She wanted to be like him, return the favour and press her own fangs into buttery skin. For twelve years Pardus and Aquila played this torturous dance, not caring about the whispers about indecency that floated around them. Nothing meant more to Aquila than Pardus. Her adoration only just fell short of worship, and although Pardus pretended to humour her he was just as intoxicated by her presence.
The visions, however, were still coming. After Pardus took the little drink Aquila seemed to pass into the semi-consciousness needed to rouse her visions. She saw the townspeople coming with burning torches three days before they set fire to the apartment. By that time Pardus had taken Aquila to France. Unknown to Aquila she was slowly being turned into a vampire, the wine she drunk after Pardus took the little drink was mixed with Pardus’ blood. Subtle changes were surfacing, the visions becoming clearer and more accurate. Aquila began to notice and question, demanding to know precisely what would happen. Before the final, more brutal stage of her transformation, Aquila cut her hair short and dyed it a deep cerise pink.
The pair entered the Aristocracy days after, choosing a dusty disused tower for their new home. With her new strength and power, Aquila teased and play-fought with Pardus, drawing blood whenever she could. She had been the submissive player for too long, it was his turn. Quiet and yet fiercely protective of Aquila, he always let her have her own way, allowing her lively and playful nature wash over him like a balm. No front was needed with her.
