Patty used the ends of her sleeve to wipe away the last of her tears off of her face. It would take her a little longer then just Catriona telling her she was pregnant to really believe it. Though, everything made sense. She had been sick more than she has in the past three years combined. She had never missed her period ever. She just needed some bizarre crave and for her breasts to kill her and it would even be more believable. She just needed to face it all. She was indeed pregnant. Pushing open the door of the hospital she stepped out onto the cold icy steps and escaladed down onto the cold side walk. Immediately wrapping her arms around herself to feel just a little bit warm as she walked down the cold street.
The street was mellow, not very busy. It was getting closer to Christmas time, and it seemed as if people were smart and planned ahead. She could feel her cheeks flush as the cold air moved swiftly passed her small body. She ducked her head down, it would have been smart if she didn’t decide to walk around, but she figured if what had just happened did, then she would have wanted to time to walk it out of her system before she went back home and had to face his family, and probably force a lie because she would be too nervous to tell them all the truth. Though, what would happen if she told them it was Garretts baby and he received word about it? What if Conall took that the wrong way?
Patty picked her head up as she passed people, it was a good thing she didn’t know anyone who was out at the moment. She had some sense of pride in herself that she never wanted to show that she was down and out, she felt as if she herself, needed to show an example of some sort. At the most it was just her being truly ridiculous, because even if she knew one of them, she would have to tell someone the truth. She sighed with relief before a very noticeable figure came into her sight. She trailed to stop squinting ever so slightly, as she to see if the figure standing before her could have really been someone she knew. If so, they might not be so lucky to just get a simple hello from her.
It hasn't been a particularly good week for Garrett. Though he's worked for The Council for merely two years, his efforts and dedication did not go unnoticed. He's gone from having a simple desk job to being a hunter. It isn't as exciting as one might think it is. As a child, he's always thought of hunters as spies or secret agents, like James Bond. Truth be told, being a hunter is nothing like that. The basics are quite the similar: the same name, a few lies, a few tricks and that's that. But his job is not as glamorous as 007's. To start it all of, eventhough he is a bachelor, he isn't seen taking ravishing women back to his hotel rooms and rare is it that he actually gets to stay in a hotel. He usually has to live out of his car or some other shit hole. To top that off, he can't stay in a place long enough to establish any real connection with others. He's made friends and stayed in touch with them but he can't maintain any relationships because he has to be constantly on the move. In fact, his last girlfriend broke up with him because of this. Pattricia Salines. A shiver ran down his spine, more out of the act of saying her name in his head than the biting cold of winter.
He still has the ring he bought for her in his pocket, one that never really got out of the box because he never got around to actually proposing to her. His work kept him busy and he thought that by throwing his efforts into his job, he'd make the world safe for Patty to live in. But, of course, the world is a hell lot more complicated than that. He has been gone for two weeks, chasing an assignment of his from Russia to India then Canada. He was closing in and he felt it, it only took another three days for him to actually catch the perpetrator. However, those three days had defined Patty's decision. Perhaps it has been brewing in her mind all those nights she spent without a clue as to where he was or how he is. Is he alive? Wounded? Bleeding to death against some tree in a forest no one knows about? It is difficult being with a hunter. He cannot contact anyone outside his team and his boss. If he did, he'd be putting her at risk and there is no way in hell that he'd do that. He was ready to give her everything but in the end, he wasn't there when she needed him, he couldn't fulfill his promise. Not to put too fine a point on it but it was game over.
Garrett scoffed bitterly at this fact. He rubbed his hands together before crossing his arms across his chest to prevent the cold from getting the best of him. He had his head down, a habit of his when he is deep in thought and wasn't exactly recognizable - he didn't exactly want to stand out, after all. It wasn't until he saw a pair of shoes causing him to stop and look up did he do so, only to be greeted by the face of none other than Patty. She was glowing! The harsh winds making a delicate blush creep up her cheeks and her nose. It was then that his eyes led him to hers and they looked slightly puffy - has she been crying? "Patty," he said in acknowledgement of her presence, like a love sick fool. Pathetic Kingsman. Just pathetic. "uhm, How are you?" He reached out and hugged her gingerly, giving her a pat in the back. It wasn't quite the hug he wanted to give but he was afraid that she'd think he was being inappropriate given their 'not dating', 'we're over' status.
