Whenever I attack an enemy (either melee or ranged) I end up with about 4 windows of dice being rolled. As a result, this lags down and slows the game drastically, making it almost impossible to play.

Also, I brought knight to the edge of the game screen and attacked an enemy behind it. As I did, the melee animation ended up on the wall.

-A typo was found for the introduction of the England Campaign
(England was spelled Enland)

Also, for some reason the music doesn't work for me

I have maybe a slower computer than others, and this may be the cause of some of these errors. I have a win98(version 4.10) with a pentium II. My file system and virtual memory is both 32-bit.

I'm surpised it doesn't crash when that happens. To what I understand jon is going to put in some timers to slow it down.

Here are the responses for the previously mentioned bugs:

1. Whenever I attack an enemy (either melee or ranged) I end up with about 4 windows of dice being rolled. As a result, this lags down and slows the game drastically, making it almost impossible to play.

Turn off dice rolling in the options menu. This seems to be a common thread on slower machines, though, so I may write an algorithm that defaults dice rolling to off on crap machines (i.e. low-end P3 and below).

2. Also, I brought knight to the edge of the game screen and attacked an enemy behind it. As I did, the melee animation ended up on the wall.

This will be fixed (it's not really a bug; animations just play in front of their cooresponding units).

3. A typo was found for the introduction of the England Campaign (England was spelled Enland)

I'll fix that. I'm not making a big deal of typos now, though, as it is only in alpha stage.

4. Also, for some reason the music doesn't work for me

That's probably your sound card. Don't worry about it, as you're only missing the soundtrack. I have no plans on improving sound support for ancient machines; it works on every machine I've seen tested with better that Windows98, so I'm not worried there.

Expect fixes to #2 and #3 shortly; #1 and #4 are more machine specific and are not nearly as high of priorities as your machine is just very slow. I'll probably get around to a fix at some point though. Thanks for the help!

Cheers,
Jon

Scratch that previous response regarding no upcoming fixes for the dice bug... After reading my daily spam from people who don't want to post on the forum, as well as reading your posts, I will address the dice problem before the first beta release. That said, please vote in the poll that I put up regarding dice bugs. Thanks!

Cheers,
Jon

I have now fixed (to the best of my knowledge) the problems with dice rolling. The main problem had been that the AI can move a lot faster than a human, so all of its dice rolling was happening at once. To solve this, I just turned off AI dice rolling, as it was unnecessary anyway. I left the player dice rolling turned on, however, as it hasn't seemed to cause any problems that I have heard about. If you want, though, you can still turn it off from within the options menu. Thanks for the help!

Cheers,
Jon
