Transport Group

We would like to see a reduction in the problems related to air pollution, carbon emissions, noise, and road traffic injuries by a shift in emphasis in transport policy away from private car use and towards the promotion of walking, cycling and public transport – sustainable transport that will benefit our environment, our health and our society.

Locally we are campaigning for:

· a 20mph speed restriction in Frome town centre
· 20mph zones outside all Frome schools and colleges
· the closure of Frome Market Place (town centre) to through traffic on Saturdays with a view to a permanent closure
· an ongoing programme of road closures to provide safer walking and cycling routes
· the completion of key walking and cycling routes across Frome
· improved pedestrian crossings in the town centre, at Frome Station, schools and colleges and other key locations
· better street design to encourage more walking and cycling
· wider pavements and greater enforcement of illegal pavement parking
· more secure cycle parking outside shops, retail stores, at Frome Station and at schools and colleges
· improved directional signage to encourage walking and cycling and public transport use
· big improvements to our bus and train services, in alliance with Frome Public Transport Users’ Association

We meet regularly and always welcome new members or those who just want to find out more – please contact us –
