I should post my newest report~
___________________________ After a long day running around the hotel, I attended the front door through which the concert would be occurring. This was my first time attending a Con, as well as my first time with a pp (press pass). I arrived at the doors right when the doors were opening for press, and since I had both a pp and a mash pit ticket, I assured my spot right in front of the vocalist. Of course there was the usual smart a** who would steal people's spots. The concert started half an hour later, very punctual, not to mention organized. There was the occasional group that would annoyed everyone, even the band. Asides from then, this was a fantastic concert for me. The first band that came out was D&L, and from what I understand it, they are fairly new to the public. I'm not fully aware of their history, but as for their music, think Dir en Grey meets Sadie. They're you're typical Visual Kei band with a few unique touches here and there. The Vocalist reminded me a lot of Kyo, Diru's vocalist. He was so energetic and actually fun. He loved doing mash pits, even though e seem to be a novice at it and kept hitting and getting hit by people. He also seem to have a fascination to his crotch *lol* People kept rooting for D&L, but at one point the vocalist said, "no, it's Die-eru", no mention of the & for whatever reason. It was all good though. My favorite members were Kifumi, their bassist, and Tomo, on drums. I felt attracted to them the most for some reason. The seem to be putting all their energy on the event, asides from the vocalist of course. All in all, their performance was pretty great, and while one bruise came out from one of the members, I didn't complained. There was about a 20 minute break, playing aural vampire music in the background while the band and everyone were getting ready. Finally Roger came out, with his new hair do and a little make up. He wanted the crowd to welcome to stage the band is screams. And we sure did screamed. Finally each of the members were introduce. Peggy came out first, really excited. Next, their new member making his first appearance for US fans, Kiddy, all shy. Finally Jack. Just took his time while getting to the center, placed down Tsutomu, their puppet doll, and sat down for things to be ready. Peggy had all the basic instrumental song in his iPod, and connected it to the venue's sound system. After Peggy gave the signal, Jack got up, and walked slowly towards the microphone with wide eyes and a maddening look. He then said "I want brains". He really was going all out with the horror image. The song "This Is Halloween" from Tim Burton's movie, The Nightmare Before Christmas" started playing. The whole crowed started singing along, noticeably, everyone was excited. Finally Spook House started playing; Kiddy and Peggy started playing, and Jack simply clap his hands up and moved his waiste/crotch sideways to the music. It was unfortunate that during this show, something had to happen, of course. By then end of the song, Kiddy seem to have been playing so good that he broke a string. He then left the stage while Jack and Peggy stalled for time. Jack grabbed Tsutomu and started speak to the public through him. I love it when he does that, he's so talented and puppeteer. Kiddy was taking a while, so Jack left to see what had happened. Roger came out to apologize, and made a joke about the coincidence from the previous NY show. Unlike Peggy, Kiddy wasn't mad, just shy and nervous, but they soon came back on stage and Devilish Kidnapper started playing. This is one of my favorite songs from the band and I just had to sing along. It's so much fun! I was finally able to hear "Prince of Darkness" fully, not to mention live. Really fun song, that until then had no idea it was actually completely in english xD Jack and his deformed english. Later a new song was played. I heard it earlier in the day while waiting outside during sound check. Jack said the name of the song, but I couldn't quite understand it. Really good one too. It might be another Dororo remake. I was lucky enough to finally hear Bordeaux After Midnight live. The song featured on Kiwamu's Compilation album, also a remix from Dororo. It was just as I imagined it, all the energy, all the horrible english speaking so fast but not nearly enough interest on that to notice. All the emotion! I sang along through the whole song, even though Jack forgot the lyrics at one point *lol*. Nemureru mori no hanayome was next with a new style, somewhat adjusted to emphasize Kiddy's guitar. In fact many of the song had this strong guitar sound, which I am to guess, is to say "hey everyone, check out our new-ish stuff courtesy of Kiddy." Jack really just seems to love the whole Rock Star image. As time went by the annoying crowd seem to want to take Kiddy hostage. They kept pulling on his guitar and and one point by his hair! i felt so bad for him. When the band went inside for a little bit, the tried to steal Jack's hat that was laying in the stage. But after persuasion from random people, they stopped. Roger came out and demanded more screaming to bring the band back out. Finally Spook Hose encore. With my last bit of energy, I sang out loud. After this the band went signed their new single and new poster they seem to get from (Jack's, cover of orkus magazine, Peggy, hi blog, Kiddy, his new photos). Also new photo sets. Tainted Reality also had some merchandise from a few bands, such as Blood and Versailles. Versailles limited Revenant Choir DVD even. The line for signing was so disorganized that even though I was near the front, ended up near the back. At least we had a chance to take a picture with the band afterwards. We we're all so tired, including the band members; maybe except Peggy, the guy has a never ending supply of energy. The Candy Spooky Theater PMX concert was certainly an amazing experience, definitely the BEST concert I've been to so far. Tainted Reality did an amazing job managing the event, so kudos to them. I will remember this for a long time to come~ Set List, The Candy Spooky Theater -SE- This Is Halloween (Nightmare Before Christmas) -Set- Spook House Devilish Kidnapper Prince of Darkness Murder Toy In the Closet *New song* Strip TRICK or TREAT Merry Go Round Nejimaki Denki Isu Bordeaux After Midnight nemureru mori no hanayome (New arrangement) -Encore- Spook House |
