1. Introduction
Welcome to Skyreel Breeding 101, where all your Skyreel breeding questions can find an answer. There are three types of breeding items in the land of Skyreels which will allow you to breed your Skyreels and produce the cuddly fluffy babies we all love: feathers, cheese, and gems. So you've amassed your collection of feathers, cheeses and gems, and you need to know what to do with them? Well, look no further, because your handy-dandy guide to breeding Skyreels is right here at your fingertips. Let's start with the basics. To breed a Skyreel, you need at least two things: - A pair of adult Skyreels (unless a God is being used, both Skyreels must be of the same breed) - The necessary item(s) (courting feather, courting cheese, gems, etc.) Of course, if that was all you could do with Skyreels, we wouldn't have nearly the variety we have today. Each breed also has a set of breeding items or conditions that allow you to vary what your fluffy cuddly Skyreel babies will look like, by manipulating colour, markings, gender, or even by producing twins! So, without any further ado, let's get on to the explanations. And what better place to start than at the first and most common of the Skyreel breeding items, the feathers. -------------------- Life is a drag unless you book time for fun :D

2. The Feather Breeds - Normals, Verins, and Phoenixes
Normals, Verins, and Phoenixes all require the use of a courting feather (a pure white feather) to breed. Regardless of what other feathers you decide to use, you MUST have a courting feather. Once you've obtained your courting feather, there are a number of other feathers you can use to influence the resulting egg. You may use as many special feathers on a breeding as you like, but you must indicate in your breeding form which feathers you are using. A feather cannot be applied to an egg after it has been laid. If you opt not to use any special feathers, your baby's appearance will be determined by his/her parents.

3. The Cheese Breeds - Lapharis, Katsus, Secans, and Skivers
Cheeses work in much the same manner as feathers. Lapharis, Katsus, Secans, and Skivers all require the use of a courting cheese (pure white cheese) to breed, regardless of what other cheese is used. Like feathers, cheese come in a number of special varieties that will influence your offspring. You may use as many as you wish, but those special cheeses used must be indicated on the breeding form, and cannot be applied to the offspring after it is born. If you opt not to use any special cheese, your offspring's appearance will be based solely on his/her parents.

4. The Gem Breeds - Dragons and Luvreels
The gems are a little more complicated to use than either the feathers or the cheese. To breed a dragon or luvreel, you must have at least three (3) gems. These can be of any colour combination (all different colours, all the same, two the same and one different, etc.), provided you have three of them. There are four colours of gems: blue, purple, red, and green. When you post your breeding request, you will be required to submit your three gems in order as well. Be careful!! Each colour order has a different outcome, depending on what colours are used and how they are arranged. Gem 1 Slot: Allows the breeding to happen and controls the gender Blue: Allows for a male/female breeding and guarantees the offspring will be male Purple: Allows for a male/female breeding and guarantees the offspring will be female Red: Allows for a same gender breeding (male/male or female/female) but assigns a random gender Green: Allows for a male/female breeding, but assigns a random gender Gem 2 Slot: Determines the colour of the scales and body Blue gem - The baby will show its father's colours Purple gem - The baby will show its mother's colours Red gem - The baby will be brighter than either parent Green gem - The baby will be darker than either parent Gem 3 Slot: Determines the baby's markings Blue gem - The baby will take its colours and markings from its father Purple gem - The baby will take its colours and markings from its mother Red gem - The baby's markings will be a combination of the parents Green gem - The baby's markings will be different from either parent ** In the event a red gem is used in the first slot, the first parent posted is determined to be the mother and the second posted is considered the father If you choose to use three gems of the same colour, you will unlock a random baby that is constrained only by the limits of Chem's imagination. 5. Bonded Pairs
Rarely, Skyreels come as a Bonded Pair (two Skyreels on the same cert). A Bonded Pair is a very special pair of Skyreels, and shows an absolute devotion to one other. A Bonded Pair can never be separated, nor can one of the two be breed with another Skyreel. A Bonded Pair never needs a courting item to be bred, but like all Skyreels they must wait one month after the egg is born before they may be breed again. Special items can still be applied to Bonded Pair breedings, and must be indicated when the request is made. -------------------- Life is a drag unless you book time for fun :D

6. Moonfoals
Ah, Moonfoals. The Skyreel breed designed to make breeding complicated. Moonfoals don't use feathers, eggs, or gems. They usually don't even lay eggs. Through a strange series of evolutionary phenomena, Moonfoal reproduction has taken on a bizarre, quasi-parasitic quality wherein Moonfoal babies must share the egg of another Skyreel. And yes, it gets a little cramped. Moonfoals are also much more demanding than other Skyreels when it comes to breeding items. To breed your Moonfoals, you must have Breeding scroll
Piece of wolfsbane
Piece of crude silver
One moonstone
In addition, just must also have a pair of "host" Skyreels, and the necessary item(s) needed to breed the host pair. If a twin feather or twin cheese is used on the host pair, two eggs will result, and each egg will contain both a host Skyreel baby and a moonfoal (and thus you will get four babies with one breeding!). At this time, it is not possible to do an opposite breeding with moonfoals, or to apply markings or tints to Moonfoal babies. All Moonfoal babies are based on their parents. Moonfoal Growing - Moonfoals are also stuck at their baby stage until two things happen. First, the host Skyreel must grow to maturity. Second, the baby Moonfoal must be fed EITHER three pieces of normal moonstone OR one of the very rare red moonstones. The moonstones provides the baby with the energy needed to break from the host Skyreel and grow to adulthood. * The Exception - As mentioned above, Moonfoals usually do not lay eggs, but occasionally, through some freak phenomena, a pair of Moonfoals do manage to lay a rock-type egg. These eggs are very rare, and are usually left in the care of the capable Skyreel team to find them a home. It should be noted that the Moonfoals hatched from these eggs do not require moonstones to grow, as they consume the rock crystals from their eggs instead, and grow on their own. There is a new special and rare red moonstone that if used during the breeding will grow the baby moonfoal on its own once its host reaches adulthood. Red Moonstone

7. Gods
Like the Gods of ancient Greece and Rome, Skyreel Gods will descend from their heights to mate with the mere mortal Skyreels. Breeding Gods can be somewhat complicated. To begin with, Gods have no gender. This means they can be bred to either gender Skyreel. They can also be bred to any BREED of Skyreel (including Moonfoals), which occasionally lends some strange results. However, two Gods cannot breed to each other. It has also been revealed that, by some strange coincidence, the offspring from Gods are not related in any way. As a result, in the event that a God breeding produces a bonded pair of Skyreels (which does occasionally happen), the two are not considered brother and sister and can be bred together using the normal bonded pair rules. No matter what breed you choose to mate to your God, you require only the use of a courting FEATHER. If you wish, you may apply special feathers to the eggs (following the same rules as for the feather breeds) although the opposite feather would have no use. However, twin, male and female, tint, and marking feathers could all be applied to the respective egg. And the random feather will definitely cause randomness. Be advised that when you breed a God, you only have a 5% chance of the offspring being a God. It has been shown that when Gods are mated to certain breeds, occasionally different breeds are born. Although the extent of this is not known, and experiments have not yet been conducted to show all the possible combinations, the following are the combinations we do know about. Others will be filled in as we discover them. God: x Normal: Normal x Verin: Katsu x Moonfoal: Secan x Laphari: Laphari x Dragon: Phoenix x Katsu: Verin x Secan: Moonfoal x Luvreel: Luvreel x Skiver: ?? x Phoenix: Dragon -------------------- Life is a drag unless you book time for fun :D

8. Other Rules and Regulations
- Skyreels cannot be bred until they have reached their adult stage and have been named(if the name is pending in the naming forum then he/she is ok to breed). - All breeding requests must be submitted via the breeding request board on the Skyreel forums, using the form provided in the stickied thread. - You are welcome to use another person's Skyreels in your breeding, but you must have permission, and the owner must post permission in the same thread in which you have posted your request, before the breeding can be processed. The same applies if you wish to use someone else's feathers, cheeses, or other items in your breedings. - Skyreels cannot be cross-bred (i.e. Verin to Katsu), with the exception of God breedings, and they cannot have ANY inbreeding. - You may have only one breeding request open at a time. This means that once you post a request, you cannot post another until that baby has reached adulthood. This rule still stands if someone else is breeding you a baby. For example, if you are getting one baby from a set of twins, that person cannot post their breeding if you have a breeding already in process. This goes for getting an egg in trade as well. - All Skyreels must wait at least thirty days after an egg is born before they can be bred again. -If you won an item and it is not yet in your Aerie you are still allowed to put in your breeding request. I know that the item is pending to go in and will just take it back off the list if the breed is processed before I get a chance to put it in. -Color and marking feathers cannot be used on an egg won from a contest or raffle. -------------------- Life is a drag unless you book time for fun :D
