Edgewater University has a proud history. Founded by the reknowned John Shockley in 1898, the University has played a critical role in the shaping of the city within it sits.

The sprawling complex itself is dotted with dormitories, designed to house students far from home, lined with lecture rooms on a great many subjects, from economics to law to the sciences. The University also offers a sporting field, upon which its team plays. An auditorium sits near the University central plaza, and golf-buggy like carts facilitate travel around the complex.

"Uh..."

William looked around, concern etched on his little face. His arms were laden with packages- goods from the Global Warming bakery intended for the students which he would meet for the first time, today. Cupcakes, muffins and buns stood, ready for the 31 lucky (good or bad) students which would be under his tutelage.

Unfortunately, however, the sprawling, and rather confusing layout of the University meant that, at that very moment, William was lost.

One might think he was something of a comical figure. Standing at only three feet ten inches, he seemed woefully out of place when compared to the much older, taller users of the University. He stood in his impeccably kept business suit and tie, fedora hat upon his head, plastic bags filled with parcels hanging off his arms and nestled in his hat. His brown hair was kept neat and tidy, but if a person were to look directly into his face, the first thing they'd note were his large, adorably soft brown eyes, at the moment whirling to the left and right, filled with something between terror and curiosity.

"Can... Can someone h-help me, please?" He said, almost too himself- he seemed too short and too quiet to be heard.

It was early Saturday morning, but if you know about universities and experienced university life, you know there’s no such thing as weekends or day offs. For Latooni and Cattleya, it was because they were expecting someone. A new teacher, actually. The BCP had already faxed in all the required paperwork to the University and it has already been processed. William Redspring is now legally a teacher of the Edgewater University.

The trouble right now was, of course, to find him. It’s easy to get lost in the university if you’re not used to it, and still moderately easy to get lost in it even after being here for about a year. Just ask some of the students, they’ll confirm that.

“Just call him.” Cattleya kept mentioning to Latooni as they moved about, looking for the boy. “You do have his number, don’t you? I remember explicitly you hoarding the slip of paper all for yourself. You didn’t even share it with me.” She even feinted a hurt look on her face.

“But... but…” Latooni started, but it seems luck was on her side, for by the next corner, she spotted William. She quickly shuffled her feet towards the boy, escaping from Cattleya. She only spoke when she was next to him.

“Mr. Redspri… I mean, William. Welcome to Edgewater University.” She said with a smile, a rare show of emotion. Cattleya soon appeared besides her and just smiled at William.

When a person is genuinely lost, the appearance of someone who knows where everything is will send floods of relief through the lost person. Thus, when Latooni and Cattleya found William, the first thing he did was beam broadly in relief. "M-miss Latooni! Miss Cattleya!" He cried, his eyes dazzling. "I was so lost... W-were you looking for me? Oh, I'm so sorry for being such a nuisance..." William slumped for a few seconds before straightening up yet again. "Thank you, miss Latooni, for welcoming me..." He gave them a little bow, yet he overbalanced somewhat... Causing his fedora to slip off his head, bakery packages tumbling across the ground. "Oh, no..." Mumbled Will, who crouched down to pick up his hat, his face red with embarassment.

The sound, however, of the scattering bakery packages attracted the attention of a fairly tall, elegant man with short, brown hair. Glasses sat upon his handsome face, and his hazel eyes seemed to radiate a peaceful nature. His name was Frederick Granger.

"William?" He said to himself, and quickly power walked towards the gathering. "William! It is you!" Cried out Frederick. William looked over, and his eyes widened in surprise. "Frederick!" Shouted William in delight, waving madly at his long time friend.

"William, what're you doing here?" Asked Frederick after the two embraced like brothers. "I'm teaching here, Fred!" Replied William gleefully. "Teaching? At ten?" Responded Frederick, smirking.

"Well, the BCP... They ah, wanted to make sure my talents were put to good use... Um..." Said William, obviously unsure that his talents were suitable for teaching. Fred chuckled. "Well, you may be skilled, but I'm better looking," He replied, and ruffled Will's hair. He also nodded to Cattleya and Latooni. "Miss Fee, Miss Fujiwara. Lovely day, is it not?" He asked, smiling, a graceful silkiness in his voice.

The bakery goods lay quite forgotten on the ground as William also turned to Lat and Cattleya. "Um, I'm teaching Group 10-B... I'm not sure where that is, though..."

Latooni nodded silently at William before she bent down and proceeded to pick up the bakery goods left forgotten on the ground. “You might want this back.” She noted as she mechanically handed the goods to William, trying her best to hold a calm demeanor and not blush as red as a tomato.

“Group 10-B, hmm. That would be the High School section of the university, you can get there by…” She stopped to do some mental calculations of their current location and the high school section before proceeding to ramble on a long set of direction that seemed to go on for about a minute. “There…” She finally stopped. “Did you get all that?”

“Lat, dear.” Cattleya spoke gently, which caused Latooni to turn all eyes at her. “I think since this is William’s first time here, it’s best if you show him the way and take him there instead of, you know…” Latooni blushed a deep red as she realized what Cattleya was trying to tell her and nodded meekly.

“S-s-sorry, William.” She quickly bowed down deeply in front of him, asking for forgiveness. “I’ll show you the way.” She added meekly as she offered William a hand.

"Oh, it's alright, Miss Latooni." Said Will, taking the baked goods gratefully. "Thank you. Oh, and don't apologise. I should be the sorry one... I'm such a nuisance..." When Latooni offered her hand, he took it happily, his little hand closing around her somewhat larger one. "Um, goodbye, Miss Cattleya! Bye, Fred!" Said Will, waving over his shoulder as he was led off by his guide.


"Heh. Bye, Will." Said Frederick, waving them off. "See you later, miss Fee." He added to Latooni, bowing in acknowledgement. The tall, handsome young nobleman then approached Cattleya, his long strides quickly closing the distance. "So... What do you think about those two, Cat?" He asked, stroking his chin. "Up for a wager?"

Cattleya smirked slyly before replying to Frederick. "I say they'll end up together... sooner rather than later."

Latooni blushed deep red as she held on to William's hand, leading him through the maze of various twist and turns that is the University to an area located just about the opposite end of the starting location before stopping. As she turned to face Will, she blushed even more, looking downwards trying to hide her face from view.

She would've been wearing her glasses by now if not for the fact that try as she may, she could not find it this morning in her room before leaving to come here to the University. She has a deep suspicion that Cattleya managed to somehow sneaked into her room at night like a cat and hid it somewhere else.

"T-t-this is the High School block, William." She spoke, her eyes still eyeing her feet. "Do you, err.... need me? I-I mean... to take you to you class and introduce you to the students."

"Ah, but Cat..." Frederick whipped off his glasses, wiped them with his shirt, and stuck them back on. "William is just a child. A compassionate one, but a child nonetheless. If it happens too quickly, William will - and I'm sure of it- be locked into thinking of her in a more sisterly or motherly light. And that might undo all the work which Elzam and you have done to bring her into the open." He said, his face concerned.

William spent much of the walk gazing around at his surroundings, especially at the people who studied here. He often waved unabashedly back at people who, delighted at his presence, waved at him. When Latooni posed her question, William nodded quickly.
"Um, well, I'm not entirely confident yet with the whole... Um... Thing, miss Latooni, so I would appreciate it if you would help me and introduce me to the students... They might not take me seriously, otherwise." replied Will seriously, gratitude in his eyes as he stared up at Latooni.

Cattleya just waved off Frederick’s near-sagely insights nonchalantly with a small laugh. “When did you become such a psychologist, Fred?” She asked, smiling. “It’s not my aim for them to have a relationship… yet. They’re still too young, even I know that, but Lat… Lat needs a friend near her own age. Will will hopefully help her open up more and be… you know, someone she can share secrets with?”

“What comes after that is anyone’s guess but…” She smirked at Frederick with a mischievous look in her eyes. “I bet it’ll be love. So, are you man enough to take the bet?” She offered Fred a hand to shake on before proceeding to gaze towards the direction Latooni and William headed for when they left; a contemplative look on her face.

“Fred…” Her voice suddenly changed in that instant. It’s now soft and slow, in total seriousness. “Do you think it was a good idea of mine to keep Lat here with me instead of sending her to the BCP Academy?” She asked the teen wistfully.

Latooni nodded shyly in response to Will’s request. “Sure. I guess that’s the least I can do for you, Will. Errr…” She blushed a bit more. “Can you please call me Miss Fee while in class? I should call your Mr. Redspring too.”

She led William into the building, passing through a classroom labeled ’10-A’ before stopping in front of the one labeled ’10-B’. They can hear the noises coming from the inside. “This is the class. Are… are… are you ready, Will?” Although she was asking him, she was more or less, actually asking herself.

Frederick nodded. "Latooni definitely needs a friend her own age, and William would be perfect. He has a very gentle nature..." He trailed off, rubbing his chin. "Latooni has a far more complex nature than many would believe..." He added, his face grave.

Frederick smirked, however, when Cat offered him her hand. "Ah, ma soeur, you forget that I am French- and we always favour the long shot." He cheerfully took it, then pulled his beloved sister-figure into a tight hug. "Don't doubt yourself. You did the right thing- Latooni would have been overwhelmed without a friend there."

Will gulped. He gave the door a nervous sort of glance before looking back at Latooni, anxiety obvious in his face. "Okay, I can do this..." He mumbled, taking a deep breath. He readjusted his fedora, redoubled his grip on his baked goods, tapped his heels together three times, stood up straight, shoulders back, and nodded once. "Ready, Miss Lato- I mean, er, Miss Fee." Said Will, staring up at Lat.

I can do this, I can do this, Latooni kept chanting to herself in her mind before taking a deep breathe and opened the classroom door. The once noisy classroom suddenly turned quiet; the kinda quiet where you can hear a pin drop. All of the students were staring at the slowly opening door, wondering who their new teacher is going to be. Today would be the orientation day; the day the students in Class 10-B enter their 10th grade and meet their teachers for the very first time.

The students, there is 31 of them. Some are new faces to Edgewater University while some of them are older ones moving up from their 9th grade. The older ones were of course the first to speak the moment they saw Latooni stepped in, still holding William hand in hand without realizing.

“Hey, Miss Fee!” One of them shouted. It was Kusuha Luckfield. Also known as Kuz to her friends, all that knows her fears her almighty ‘energy drinks’ that is powerful enough to bring just about anyone drinking it to their knees, if not knocking them unconscious. She’s one of the ‘old faces’ that knows Latooni. “Are you showing the new student to his class? If so, you got the wrong classroom.”

“Yeah, mon, this is not the middle school section, or were you looking for the elementary school, mon?” Another student spoke up; a Jamaican named Damon Treshaun, also one of ‘old’ ones.

“N… no!” Latooni quickly spoke up. “He’s not a new student, he’s –“ Before she could finish her sentence, she was interrupted by the students. This time, it was a tall Chinese girl with long silky black hair, Ran Mei Lin.

“Aww, Miss Fee got herself a boyfriend? ~ <3”

“Awwwww, kaaaaaaaawaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaiiiiiiiiiiii~” Another girl nearly shrieked out loud. As one could easily guess, she’s a foreign student from Japan.

Latooni was blushing so hot and so red she could feel the steam rising from her head. “N-n-no… no, it’s not like that an all.” She desperately explained, but her voice was muffled and lost in the excited conversation the students was having with each other.

“N….. n…. NO!” Latooni finally shouted out loud is exasperation, although she still hadn’t realized she was still holding William’s hand. Well, that got the class’ attention alright. “I mean… Class. This is Mr. William Redspring, he will be your teacher from now on.”

One word: Silence. It lasted about a minute before Damon spoke out. “Ya gotta be kidding, mon. Is this a joke?” All the other students remained silent, awaiting Latooni’s answer. Some of the newer students may not know her, but they know enough from the other students and from general knowledge in the University as a whole that Latooni acts like a messenger around the University and despite her age, whatever she did and say is the official action of the University.

“No, Mr. Treshaun.” Latooni spoke, all eyes on her. “Despite his… age, Mr. Redspring does indeed possess the qualifications necessary to be teaching this class. All his paperworks have been processed by the Edgewater University and starting today, he is going to be the teacher of Class 10-B.”

In an instant the silence became an uproar, with everybody talking at once, throwing question out at Latooni and in general by the dozens. It took Latooni a few minutes of waving her hands around to silence the students and get their attention again.

“Please, people… please…” She remembered what Cattleya taught her. If anything else fails to work, smile. So smile she did, cutely and innocently. “Please believe me.” She couldn’t believed it worked, but worked it did, for everybody was silently paying attention to her and Will now. “Now, let’s let Mr. Redspring here introduce himself and also brief you on what he’s going to teach.”

She stepped aside and let William take the floor.

William felt several emotions upon entering that room. First, he felt scared and intimidated. His stomach clenched in anxiety as he stared at those older faces... He swore his knees almost buckled beneath him. Will felt the basic instinct to flee before the challenge, and squeezed Lat's hand reflexively. He barely, however, got the chance to breathe before he progressed to his next emotion.

He could feel his cheeks burn redder than ever, and he looked down at his shoes, his resolve crumbling like an extremely weak wall. "B-boyfriend? I'm too young for that sort of thing..." Mumbled Will quietly, using his regular defense. All too quickly, Latooni was standing aside for him. He coughed several times, looked imploringly up at his new friend, then stepped forward, placing his fedora and baked goods upon his teacher's desk. Realising how short he was, he pulled out the teacher's chair and stood upon it to address the class.

"Good morning, 10-B. My name is William Redspring, the, ah... fourth..." He mumbled somewhat on the last word, but lifted his head high and continued to speak. "I was born in Kent, England, and graduated from the British CP Academy, London. I am primarily a History teacher, though I am also qualified to teach English and Physical Education. I have lived in Edgewater for one week. I hope I live up to your standards as a teacher and as a friend to all of you. I, um, brought some baked goods... Some muffins and... cupcakes and buns... One for all of you, so just... Um... Take one when you want..." Ended William, his eyes flicking across the class, trying to quickly memorise all the faces.

There was yet another silence in the classroom; some from sheer disbelieve while others from trying their best not to laugh when William stood up on the chair; before it was broken by a cheery voice. “He’s so cute! I give him… an 8!”

“Hey, that’s not fair, Chii!” A young boy spoke out. He looked rather small, about as tall as Latooni, with spiky brown hair and brown eyes and seem a bit out of place in the classroom, just like William. “You only gave me a 5!”

“No I didn’t!” The young girl known as Chiisato Kobayashi, or Chii to her friends, retorted with a smile. “You asked me to remove you from the list, Kaizo, so you’re no longer rated!”

“Aww, that’s just not fair.” Kaizo pouted playfully. “Oh well, at least our new teacher is not as short as you, eh, ‘Ras?” The face of the young teen who sat beside Kaizo, Erasmus Haplien, grew about as pink as his medium short purple-pink hair. “I’m not short. I’m definitely not shorter than our new teacher.” He countered, looking very cute as he did so, especially since he’s blushing pink.

The trio of Kaizo Kitamura, Chiisato Kobayashi and Erasmus Haplien had just transferred into this class early this month. There had been rumors that they are from some sort of ‘demon school’, although they seemed pretty normal to everybody here. Well, except for their wild side especially when they’re having fun.

While the other students looked on, Kaizo sprinted down towards William and gave him a nod before yoinking one of the cupcakes the young teacher offered. “Come on, it’s free food. It’s not everyday we’re given the chance to break the rules and eat in class.” He added, smiling cheekily. “Thank you, Mr. Redspring.”

That, more or less broke the ice. One by one, the students stepped forward to meet and greet the young teacher before picking one of the bakery products. Well, almost all of the students. One of them, one Kenneth Demorov, just sat idly in the back, looking distant and cold while carrying a smirk on his face.

Latooni, seeing all is going well, or as well as it could be, passed William an envelope before politely excused herself, leaving William to his class.

“Ooph, Mr. Redspring?” A seemingly familiar voice spoke out to the young teacher. It was Kaizo, this time his mouth full of cupcake, muffling his voice until he swallowed it in one big gulp. “Can I get permission to use the laboratory after my classes are finished?”

“I thought we were going to the arcade, Kai.”

“Oh, hush, Ryu. You know I beat you all the time. So, can I, Mr. Respring?” Kaizo asked earnestly. A bit too earnestly.

William smiled confidently at Latooni as she excused herself, now feeling far more confident about the entire situation. "Thanks," he mumbled to her before she left. Will then turned to the class, and began to greet the students as they came.

"Ah, yes. Erasmus Haplien, is it? Don't worry, there's nothing wrong with being short- I'm way shorter than you!" He said to the purply-pink haired boy, smiling warmly, giving him a cupcake before turning to the next student.

"Chiisato Kobayashi, right? Hello! So, an eight, huh? Out of what?" He said mischieviously, grinning as he gave her a bun. "What about yourself? You're very cute, too!"

"Use the lab?" He repeated whilst handing Kaizo his cupcake. "Kaizo Kitamura, hmm? Well, I don't see why not... Of course, it all depends on how well you behave this lesson, though I'm sure you'll all behave admirably."

"Mr. Demorov!" Cried out Will, espying the stoic student alone at the back of the class. "Would you like a chocolate chip muffin? They're very nice!"

Will continued to chatter to the students warmly whilst waiting for them to settle down a bit- it was only an orientation day, really.

“Out of ten, of course.” Chiisato answered Will’s question with a mischievous grin of her own. “Now that I look at you closer…” She moved her head within inches from Will’s, scrutinizing his face. “You might be a 9. Oh how I want to pinch those cute cheek of yours.” She added cheerily before removing her face from his and taking the cupcake. “Guess I’ll have to settle for this bun… for now.”

“Yours truly if of course a perfect ten!” She added mischievously as in a parting shot before she waved and moved back towards her seat. “Meh…” Kaizo grumbled silently. “She’s a 7 at most.” He said with a shrug, finishing his cupcake.

“I’ve heard that, Kai-chan! Do you want me to add you back to the list and tell everybody in the school of how cuuuute you are?”

“N… n… no! Please don’t! I have enough crazy girls chasing after me already even though I strictly said I wasn’t interested.” In fact, the only thing that interests Kaizo is video games. Video games and animes. He used to worship money and gold but since a month ago, he got hooked on those 2 things which for once in a lifetime made him forgot all about money and gold. Oh, and experimenting stuff in the labs, of course. He sighed, defeated. “Alright, alright. You win, Chii.” The girl merely giggled.

When his name was mentioned, Kenneth Demerov simply waved away Will’s offer with a neutral “Hrrmph” before remaining silent in the back.

“Yo, Mr. Redspring, mon? This stuff taste funny, mon, is it drugged?” Domon questioned. “Are you feeling sick, Domon? I can make you an energy drink later… in fact, I have one right now with me, if you want.” Kusuha offered the young Jamaican a cup of her ‘energy drink’, seemingly green in color. One could swear they can see it bubbling, as if it’s alive.

“No need, mon!” The unfortunate Domon quickly answered. “I feel fine now, mon,” He knows better than to drink one of Kusuha Luckfield’s energy drink. Kusuha, looking hurt, eyed William instead. “Mr. Redpsring, sir? Would you like some?” She asked, offering him the energy drink.

Kaizo just stared at them, in a look that one could swear is a look of horror. Sheer horror.
